New Scenery at Echo Canyon on My N-Scale Layout

  • A year ago, I changed the trackplan at the west end of Echo Canyon on my N-scale layout. Now, I'm working on new scenery in this same area of my model railroad. In doing this, will I be able to capture the feel of the real Echo Canyon in Utah? That's what I'm going to show you in this and upcoming videos.

    Great to see you back again Roy. You are not the slowest modeller....I own that title. It has taken me 5 years to re-wire my layout so far and I hope to finish it by my 75th birthday in 4 years time. And my layout is only 15ft x 8ft. But I have used over 3 miles of wire!!! Interested in your use of masking tape, one I had not thought of before. Will be interesting to see the finished result.
    Take care. Cheers, Bob

    Masking tape it's what I use ...the best, the fastest and easiest way to ballast the woodland scenics Ramps.
    Great upgrade.

    Thanks for sharing Roy, glad you're back. Looks like the modifications are coming together well. I think half the fun of having a large-sized layout is the look of exasperation on wifey-poo's face when she sees that I've ripped out a previously "finished" section in order to make it "better". Lol 👍😹

    Hi Roy, great to see you and hope you and yours is doing well.
    It’s really looking good and I too used those bridges, I like the way they look, too.
    When Mike did his video on using masking tape I thought that was genius and did the same thing, it truly is is quicker, besides, I’m impatient. 😂
    I forgot to paint the tape but the ballast cover it just fine. On those bridges, I had to remove the top to lower the sides because I used a 9.25 curve and my passenger cars kept rubbing and derailing 😱😢 but they still look good.
    Keep up the great work. Ron

    The track plan change is great Roy and the scenery will be great. I’m saving up ice creams & hot dog on a stick sticks which will be for my planned pedestrian foot bridges that I will scratch build for my layout. The earliest railroad took years to build up and like you Roy, I’m not a fast builder on my model railroad.

    Nice video, Roy. I'm just getting back to the hobby after a break earlier this year... heart failure😮. I'm getting back to everything now, and as autumn, becons an indoor pass time is best. I had taken all my boards down in January and then had to stop. There is no layout at the moment, but rolling stock keeps arriving😂. Regards, Stephen

      @n-scaleunionpacificevansto6569 Roy, I was very fortunate as my problem, so far, is solved with medication. The fact that I'm taking 14 prescribed drugs is no burden, financially, in the UK. This and monthly monitoring is coming to me for nothing. Or, the massive amount of tax I paid when I had a real job. Your layout is looking really well. I like the track modifications, as they mean more fun. I've yet to decide what to do here, as we will be moving from here in the next 18 months. Take care and "keep on rolling down the railroad." Regards Stephen.

    • @WhatAboutTheBee
      @WhatAboutTheBee ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not so sure about the masking tape. I've left masking tape in place for long enough for the paper to become brittle and the glue layer to lose adhesion. Short term, its a good solution. It is the medium to long term robustness that I am concerned about.

    But last we saw you, weren't you working on the Green River yard arrangement???
