Good to see Mathaus high on the list. He was great at all parts of the game, energetic and a leader. Funny that he started his international career man marking big players like Maradona and Zico. Surprised that no South American players made it to the list. Other worthy to mention Germans: Paul Breitner and Toni Kroos

Who of the above managed to take his national team to the top 4 in the world 2 times in a row - once second, once third?!? Take into account how many inhabitants Croatia has and that only Croats play in its national team, not half of Africa, and that its footballers are paid far less than those who win! Name one of them who succeeded. Next, if you really want to, read what Zidane said about him (as Real's coach in the Ronaldo era, he said that Modrić was Real's most important link) or Mourinho? As far as I know, a scientific paper is being written that proves that Modrić is the greatest ever. I hope it will be published soon. The statistics don't even say where all those you listed were at the age of 38 and how they played. And he is still playing excellently in Real. And this is proof of his physical superiority.

@@onengkustiawan616 What statistics are you talking about bro..... Iniesta was done and dusted at the age of 33 whilst Modric is growing from strength to strength even at the age of 37. Just be honest that most count for something. I am a fan of Spanish football and Iniesta has no doubt written his name as one of the GOATS but Modric is just something else carrying at team like Croatia to double world cup semi finals, second and third place respectively. Contrary to the Spanish golden era which was a super star packed team.
