not me acting like these are groundbreaking 😂 these are mostly for sims 3 ig but overall ideas can be used for 2 and 4 xoxo sims 2 video comingg tmrw 😊
i have a good one to add! i usually play a “wants based” play style. i do what my sims want to do n let them tell their own stories rather than trying to make one for them. this can be really fun especially if you have sims with those quirky traits 😭!
I salute you for this style of gameplay it sometimes can be too much for me as my sims wants are always: 1.Buy something worth XYZ 2. Kiss/woohoo with XYZ sim 3. Become a partner 4. Harvest/grow perfect ingredients for XYZ recipe 5. Have a net worth of XYZ simoleons 6. Enroll in university 7. Pet/feed/give treat to current animal on lot 8. Get promoted or switch to another job always criminal or hair salon career
I have a sim making sculpture due to their wishes, and a plumbot making nectar cuz my human sims wanted to do nectar, but they had no time cuz plumbots really need time to make
I recently went back to Sims 3 after playing Sims 4 for years and I underestimated how much I would appreciate the wide range of traits. My sims are like actual people now instead of just a bundle of moodlets and skill boosts.
I tend to play large multi generational households with a lot of sims and I’ve found like sending them out on the town to go on trips and dates etc really helps me stay invested in everyone in the family. Like maybe the grandparents are going on a cute date to the park. Meanwhile the kids are at the arcade after school ignoring their homework. Helps me get out of the rut of my sims never leaving the house and only doing things that make money cause I’m bad at that lol
yes obi-wan 🥺 im so bad at sending my sims out of the house tbh i feel like i micromanage them to the extreme, but thats so true one awesome thing about sims 3 open world is that everywhere is easy to go to. Arcade seems so fun 😄thank you for the tips!
Also! On the same thought on traits. Having traits that kinda conflict eachother or get in the way if your goals is really fun. Ive had a socially awkward hopeless romantic, maybe you could have an adventurous sim who hates the outdoors, an ambitious couch potato. That extra layer of nuance forces your sims out of their comfort zone and I CANNOT recommend it enough
One thing I do is whenever I start a new world, I always fill it with old sims I've played with that I have saved. It's so fun watching my old sims meet my new ones and nraas story progression makes it even funner seeing there alternative lives.
Played as a homeless sim and did legacy challenged and earned enough money to build a multiple floor mansion and still had money leftover. Kept it going for many generations and moved towns a few times to combat the lag created by large families. After so many generations i had to snip the family tree down because i had so many long dead generations who all had completed wishes, skills all being tracked by the game which caused lag.
When I came back to ts3 from playing ts4 for 5 years I started interacting more with my sims. They have those wishes poppig up for a reason. May it be their traits or current Events or mood swings. I used to Plan everything ahead for my sims but now I am spontaneous. According to their wishes and it sometimes really spices up the gameplay. Exspecially the mid life crisis or teenage mood swings wishes.
I love randomly rolling traits and choosing the first lifetime aspiration that pops up with legacy gameplay. My current sim is inappropriate with the popularity aspiration, which makes it a lot more challenging and fun
I would say make multiple households and constantly switch between them to keep things fresh. Making each household really unique and different from each other really helps as well, especially if they are neighbors. Also keeping the game unpredictable makes it a lot more interesting. It's fun to work towards goals, but letting sims do their own thing once in a while allows unexpected things to happen just like real life. Lastly, leave aging turned on. That way, if you're playing a family, things will constantly be changing and it will be more challenging to complete wishes/goals.
@@LauraBeeDannon I have the opposite problem, I set my sims life to epic and it seems I can achieve the high ranking jobs too fast. My sims live for about 1000 sim days and my sim wanted to be the world's best athlete, I finished it maybe after 100 days when he was still a young adult. I also don't want to make the life of the sims shorter, because I want to do a multigenerations challenge and not rush through it at the same time.
Something I usually do on my sims game is, when I am tired of a main sims and want to do something else, I usually just pick up in their kids live to do that instead of making a new file. Its almost like starting over, but with the responsibilities of keeping friends with the family
The part about the traits is a good shout, another way you can do it is to randomise the founders traits a few times with your eyes closed and whatever the traits are when you open your eyes you go with it. I find myself picking the traits that I like, but after awhile I did get bored because the life was too perfect lol. I play this game like a tamagotchi or digimon lol.
Integrated hoods are the thing for me and rotational play with TS2 style ageing and no SP. You don't get bored when you are playing different kind of families. And being poor. The struggle is the fun part.
Hey, do you know how to get the rotational play like TS2 without turning aging off? I may be one of the fews that prefer playing without SP in order to control every aspect of the game 😅
I also play more of a wants based style. Though, not always. I have one teenage Sim who is neurotic, rebellious, and I forget the rest. Basically he sneaks out and tags all over sunset valley, has a horrible relationship with his business tycoon dad, and a decent relationship with his lush/party animal of a mom. Playing "perfect" isnt very fun to me. Also, having a mod that cuts the pay scale of the rabbit hole jobs helps with sims not getting rich too quickly. I got it from MTS if anyone is interested.
@@NotMalcolm The mod is called "Minimum Wage Remastered and Realistic" on MTS by EvelynnMama. Another good one is "Job Overhaul" by gamefreak130- MTS as well. It's a complete overhaul to the rabbit hole jobs. Adds job interviews and applications for ALL jobs. It limits how many jobs show up via the computer/newspaper. Your sims may not get the job they applied for due to trait scoring or just a bad interview. I have them both in my game and have had now issues. Just figured I'd share these great mods. :)
Shout out to the Sims for randomizing my legacy house sim to be an eco friendly vehicle enthusiast, loves having vehicles, hates driving 'em. Definitely can make the game more interesting.
This is silly, but something I like to do is have a good/friendly sim raise an evil child. Especially if you get far enough and that evil child is, say, a criminal mastermind. Keeping the relationships up is a challenge. Or reverse it, have a family of evil sims try to raise someone rebelling against the family business.
Lol I'm currently playing my first play through of NO CHEATS (I used to always command myself money lol) and at first it was a struggle but now it's pretty fun
After the 1st month of my gameplay making prefect sims, I have always since make the oddest possible and omg, (doesn’t work for me in TS4, even with growing together). My sims universe is very much chaotic. 😂😂😂
i also love to make big families with many generations because they can have opposite traits and personalities so the dynamics are fun, then you can explore multiple jobs and lifetime wishes and the best thing is the family drama and when crazy stuff happens lmao
Weird how a lot of good sims advice can also be interpreted as just good life advice bc of the gameplay loop. Like dont try to be perfect. Invest in property and real estate. Set goals to work towards. Get a hobby so youre not burnt out on work. Dont die. Its kinda funny to me but cool in a weird way.
I admit that i might be a little too control freak when it comes to Sims gameplay, micro managing every need & every move of my sim is a chore and not so rewarding nor fun. After realizing this myself that this type of gameplay is boring af, I highly agree with Not Malcom now, pls stop trying to create the perfect sim or the perfect life for them, let their autonomy take the wheel and mischief, it’s super fun to watch
My biggest problem in playing the sims is I only play as myself and my boyfriend. I usually find random people to befriend and move in after some time but most of the time I just make us. Which is linear and a little boring cuz it’s realistic lol. 😅
Honestly the only cheat I like to use is teleport because I have mermaids in the cursed islands and IT TAKES WAY TO LONG for them to swim to somewhere lol
I usually start a new world. Add houses, make households, put them in the houses. Start playing with one of my faves and make mutliple generations. Switch between the households i make. Make use of the expansions to travel and go to uni etc. And use quirky traits haha
I like to give my Sims 3 Sims at least one "quirk" trait and one "negative" one, it makes them a lot more interesting. I almost never give them more than one "skill" trait like Natural Cook, Handy, etc. My favorite Sim I've ever made had Good, Loves the Outdoors, Technophobe, Proper and Bookworm, though I had to get a mod to let him write books without the computer
Nrass story progression is a groundbreaking mod! My sims have child support, Court dates. Based on their personality non house hold members could be hitmen. They form gangs and groups on their own. You go to a park and you'll see some random stranger just post up and start protesting. Or your sim might run out and do that. Each sim will individually choose to be homosexual, bi, or heterosexual on their own. Once they chose that doesn't change. Sims have higher standers so you can't just match with anyone. You have to be compatible or you can try to fake it but in the long run, you will never make it. Sims won't always be the same . Some days based on the mood they can do things out of character. When they get drunk they'll be a whole other character. A loner can act like a party animal when she gets tipsy, and a buzzed high school student might be more likely to talk to "talk to friends" than "work hard" when he normally is the valedictorian. Your sims will wright and publish books and sell products. You will see everyone else in the world doing their crafts and using them to make money. The town Robin will steal money from the wealthiest household and give it to the poorest. And he will recruit from that household to form a gang of Robins. You will have competition because the Town Casanova will steal your wife. If you like a man, you better move quick because some pretty young woman is coming to take him. Next day, he already moved in with her, they were married, and having a baby. Sims will play by the rules of the player and they will be better at it than you doing what you didn't even think to.
I made the cast of Seinfeld once. Each one had the neurotic trait lol Jerry was a perfectionist, neat freak with a good sense of humor though, while Kramer was eccentric, charismatic, and inappropriate. So George was the overemotional, inappropriate, and dramatic Sim. Elaine was also dramatic, but I don't remember the rest. It's a good challenge though to do tv show cast characters.😅
Hey nice tips, I have a question. So I never played with aging on, I know it's horrible but to be honest Im scared that I could be bothered with a premature death or elder dying, I think about the memories I have with that Sim, the skill build ect., it's like this or it's just my imagination?
😂used your advice... and yeah big difference! I used the cheats on needs since they piss me off😅 never the money. I am having fun doing a legacy. Poor to rich and making a whole legacy. Still working on getting mods. 😆 but I suck at putting them in my game. Thats on me not the game. My goal is to complete thier lifetime wishes. Super fun.
this helped so much. im still a sims 3 player have been for years, big fan of the sims, i get bored and i realized its cause i keep creating perfect people LOL
It's not the gameplay that bores me; it's the horrible loading and saving times, and the general stutteriness and bugginess. And this is on a system that can run Final Fantasy XV with very little issue.
You need to learn how to optimize it. The sims 3 is not a very optimized game on default. The nraas mods are LIFESAVERS. I barely have any lag anymore on my ten year old pc
