Theory: This game was meant for the Wii U, with how it looks fitting in with other games on that console. However, it was clear that the Wii U was a sinking ship, and this game was moved to early Switch lifetimes instead and Forgotten Land was the franchise shake-up like what Oddysey and Breath of the Wild did.
Sad fact:
Maybe they wanted Rainbow Curse have a game friend... That is cannon... Like Epic Yarn with Return to Dreamland with the Wii...
I was thinking about it only now... But the Kirby games were always more than one in every console... Maybe to focus on the friends mechanics.... That makes me feel more sad.
Pokemon Sword and Shield were also meant to be on Wii U due to the success of Breath of the Wild being at the console also, but since it had many issues and it was ported anyway they changed to Switch

You know, I didn’t realize this till now but I feel like this game treats the game like the last one in the series
I think in a way it kind of was. Not for the series as a whole, but for the classic style of Kirby. Forgotten Land was the evolution of the Kirby series, while this game was like a walk down memory lane before entering the next era of Kirby.
"I'm just going to call Ribbon from Kirby 64..." wow, you are, while half right with ribbon, you are still right, but adeline is with her, alongside dark meta knight with mirror abilities, and Daroach
If you think hyness does not have much character development, you just have to look deeper ( or should I say slower) into what he says when you meant him
As someone whose Kirby experience goes as far as playing a tiny bit of Triple Deluxe, watching a lets play of Planet Robobot and watching some of AntDudes' Kirby videos, I loved Star Allies. Sure, it is easy, but it gives you the Kirby charm and fun, which I had a blast with, and I even played through the game on my own. The music was good, and the copy and friend abilities were cool as well (particularly the Friend Train... I loved it so much). The final boss was good as well, so overall, a solid game for me, though I feel it being £50 in price, is a tad on the expensive side for some people.

I personally think that the next main Kirby will be the one where Kirby is finally in 3d. They’ve been testing the formula with blowout blast and Battle Royale, so I think they’ll go all out next time.
If we got another Kirby game with level design similar to Kirby and the Crystal Shards, I will be happy. ( Even though that Kirby game was mainly 2D. )

It's not really an issue because it's *bad*. In fact quite the opposite. At the time of this video people were ravenous for him to review the anime, up until he finally reviews it for his 100th episode special.

I've always found this gimmick's concept pretty weird, you literally hypnotize your enemies to become your friends. Unless they were just hypnotized to be evil, and since you just freed them, they are so grateful they decide to join you... I really don't think that's how friendship works.

Can't really blame them for going with this style. The only classic kirby game that came before RtDL and after Sakurai's last involvement, Amazing Mirror, was Squeak Squad which didn't really do anything new, and Super Star Ultra, a remake.
Not to mention it took quite a while for them to nail down a style for Kirby that they could stick to.

I knew the painter ability reminded me of someone...
I was actually left feeling a little underwhelmed... until I started doing Guest Star Allies (sorry, I mean *Guest Star ???? Star Allies Go!* of course) runs with my brother, aiming to complete all 27 (now 30, and hopefully more) playthroughs.
These are REALLY fun and all those complaints about the game being easy or the presentation and story being underwhelming kind of go out the window when you and a friend are trying as hard as possible to just optimize your playthroughs. I got SUPER addicted to Dedede Tour and Meta Knightmare Returns in TD/PR, so if those were up your alley, maybe see if you can do Guest Star with a friend.
Every single ability has a special route that's been designed for it (for example, Burning Leo is never going to enter a room that requires the use of an electric power) and since every character has a different kind of movement but most of the same stages, even the parts you repeat are going to feel different and require different skillsets. It's really something that can have you coming back over and over.
...My only complaint HERE, though, is with the Friend Circle/Train/Bridge segments... What a smack in the face to a co-op-centric game to include these "everyone put down the controller so you don't mess up Player 1" segments. And since they're all just identical autoscrollers, the REALLY kill the replay value that I think is otherwise extremely high.
The Friend Star was great, though. Especially the switching-players aspect. Honestly, they should've thrown out the other friend transformations and had a whole lotta Friend Star throughout the game, and more bosses that make use of it.
I agree! AND you can swap over to other players and gather up a whole bunch of different abilities for different segments...
Of course, given that you're forced to give up copy abilities to get through these segments, they don't work in Guest Star Allies, which means that you're stuck with the sucky ones...
Linneus Damn don't get me wrong I have 2 brothers but they're older than me, and I dont see em that often..I have a sister whos really rude to me. So sadly, I'm always playing games by myself, unless its with friends.
I completely agree with you, minus the multiplayer part, as I usually play alone.
Still, Guest Star mode makes Kirby Star Allies a _much_ more replayable game then it would be otherwise in my opinion.
The character variety is real; I am so happy that I can use characters like Bonkers, Marx, even enemies like Rocky. And each romp is specially designed to take advantage of each Friend's specialties (i.e. Vividria has a room with many paint signs).
I actually like Friend Train over any other Friend Action, so it's nice to see it used in Guest Star.
Even after nearly four months, I still _love_ the Guest Star mode. It's fun to challenge my records or simply revisit a romp with a beloved Friend.
I am hyped for more Dream Friends coming later this month.
Luckily, we are getting something new with Kirby, just had to wait until 2022!

This was my first launch day Kirby game! Like you said, I definitely expected more of a change-up considering the design philosophy of the Switch, but it was still pretty fun after the slow start! Those loading screens between rooms, though, yeesh...
The Golden Bolt's Game Reviews I'll probably take a personal look at the game after a price drop, it doesn't look quite as fun to me as Robobot and at twice the price, I can't quite justify the purchase.

I think it'd be perfect as a $40 game, personally. Stuff like the loading screens and the general "safeness," for lack of a better word, hold it back from justifying a $60 price, especially if you don't have a couple friends nearby to play with.
I mean me and my friends couldn't enjoy it because of the loading times alone! We would've been better of playing return to Dreamland as it didn't suffer from it! I loved the game for what it is though! Probably one of top3 favourites due to the content it has! But it definitely doesn't fun and more just tedious after a few loading screens
Totally fair, yeah! I felt when playing with a buddy that just chatting and joking around helped us forget the load screens were even there, at the very least.
I played Kirby Star Allies solo with minimum CPU friends and immediately had twice as much fun as I was having with a maxed out set of CPU friends. Then I started playing Guest Star Allies with minimum CPU friends as Meta Knight and solo running The Ultimate Choice with Bandana Waddle Dee. Man, I miss the Spear ability from Return to Dream Land, but I’m glad they brought it back somewhat with mah boi Bandana Dee.
If you play solo, it is way harder, which just show how much work your friends do.

I'm a big lifelong Kirby fan, but when this first came out, I bounced off it so hard. I'm glad I rewatched this video though, because all that fanservice (especially the controller rumble at the end!!) is AMAZING. Maybe what my problem was is that I was playing it solo. And while I don't actually really have any friends who like Kirby, maybe I can pressure my brother into playing it with me. He's not much of a Kirby fan, but he is a big Nintendo nerd in general, so I'm sure he can be convinced. Anyway, thanks for the video :D

If I had to put in my best -wish- -hope- bet for an upcoming Dream Friend, I'd like to see Adeleine make a comeback. Especially with the new Artist ability, she'd fit right in. But yeah, I'm with you, AntDude. Kirby Dream Land 2 was the first game I ever beat so Rick, Koo, and Kine will always hold such a special place in my heart.

Nintendo actually included 3 episodes in the Kirby Anniversary Collection on Wii, so I don't see why they'd have a problem with acknowledging it in other games.
Adeleine has a pretty high chance too thanks to the artist ability.
I first beat the story in multiplayer, and i had a great time, almost as much as when I played Kirby for the first time

I think Star Allies will have, at least, a character from each game as Dream Friend.
We got the Animal Trio from Dream Land 2, Marx from Super Star and Gooey from Dream Land 3.
From 64, I expect to see Adeleine and not Ribbon. From Return to Dream Land we will probably see Magolor,
Taranza from Triple Deluxe, and Susie from Planet Robobot. I can easily see Susie in a mini mech suit (making her at the same height of Dedede), because Susie don't show any moves when she is not in her mech suit.
Maybe we can see Daroach or Spinni from Squeak Squad too.
One I'd personally like to see would be Prince Fluff from Epic Yarn with all of the different yarn transformations as his abilities.

Hm... I don't know about Landia. I still believe DLC Levels are a possibility for the game, and Landia can be a boss added in this way.
You forgot one super important Kirby character: Escargoon.

Planet Robobot is the better game imo
But I had a blast with this too
Robobot did a much better job of fleshing out its unique mechanics and had a better sense of difficulty progression. This game presented a bunch of interesting ideas, but really didn’t do much with them.
I think we can all agree that Planet Robobot was the pinnacle of modern Kirby games, heck, of KIRBY GAMES OVERALL.
If they add bosses with the dream friends, I'll tie this with robobot.
They did implement the allies gimmick a lot better with the final boss than they did with Planet Robobot. Planet Robobot at the end became a psuedo star fox shooter when taking down Star Dream.

I can’t figure out why I love Anthony so much. I don’t even play games yet I binge watch these videos every time I get a chance. Also seeing him fanboy over games he likes is adorable and it makes my heart so happy I love him he’s so great djskkdso ok bye.

Ribbon, Taranza and Susie are indeed in the game now.
as well as Dark Meta Knight, Magalor, Daroach and Adenine joins Ribbon similarly to how Rick Kine and Coo are a joint dream friend.
[SPOILER WARNING]
I have 2 main issues with this game:
1. Insanely easy difficulty (yes, even for Kirby) with friends. The bosses really should have scaled up or...Something. The "EX Mode" equivalent is also laughably easy. Heck, I'd argue that it's even easier than the base game with it's stat upgrades!
That being said...The Arena lets you go without friends, like with only one character. I highly recommend trying this to those who find the game easy; makes it actually difficult!
2. Friend abilities were eh, not as teamwork heavy as they should have been. I liked Star though.
But regardless, I still had a blast with the game, working on clearing with all characters by themselves in The Arena at max difficulty. (And holy crap, the lore revealed in this one...The rambling from Hyness, the final boss's Kirby face, the master crowns he makes...)
@I Lish! yea, I would say he is the hardest boss in this game. And the second hardest is Morpho knight.
