    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I bought one without a warranty, hasn't cost me a thing. Something to be noted, there were only 3,500 MP4-12C's made from 2012-2014. They're making WAY more cars than that per year now. And, the repair costs mentioned include the McLaren tax, that isn't what it costs them. Example, if you pay McLaren to do an oil change they'll charge you $60ish per liter of oil. That same oil with a different label on it is $18/liter and can be purchased at Walmart. The annual service on that car is $1,800 and it includes things that don't really need to be replaced after a year, especially a year of low miles. Even if I did everything they say on the annual service myself, it's about $400 in parts. If you leave out the things that don't need replaced annually because they don't expire that gets cut down to about $130. They get their money back in service and not every car paying for a warranty uses the warranty.

    Congratulations on the Puppy!
    I used to drive these cars brand new in Southampton Docks in the UK for export, and I can confirm that they ride utterly beautifully with that trick suspension. There's something like a 1/25 chance that I drove your very car hoovie! We were briefed extensively and only certain members of staff were considered responsible enough to drive them at all for loading.
    They were my favourite super car that came through the docks, as the astons were always very underwhelming in the interior (volvo parts were obvious) and too harsh and crashy.
    Stick with the MP4-12C and you'll either fall hopelessly in love or hate it with a burning passion. After all my time with them I can say that I really loved these cars and I'm glad that you're mostly happy with it ;)

    The “add money” light may go away if you run a few tanks of Techron through it. Also make sure to use the BP Ultimate high octane fuel. It runs very well on that fuel. I had the same problem with my Mclaren 650s, which is very similar to yours. After two unsuccessful trips (Kansas City to Dallas) to the dealer to diagnose the check engine light, I just tried the Techron and the light went away. It seems that the fuel injectors either stick or leak when the car sits for a long time.

    I'm trying not to be jealous of that gorgeous car. I'm always apprehensive of these cards that have way more technology than necessary, but I really love that car. It's just beautiful. The check engine light could very well be water and ice related. Every Dodge I've ever owned. When you start getting water and ice in around the inner workings it sets off various monkey lights. Call my little charger a piece of rusty junk all you like but one of the things I like about that car despite it being beaten the crap is. It's as comfortable drive as the 87 luxury car that I used to have with just as much cargo room, if not more. And it's still technically a sports car. Don't have to worry about scratching it in a parking lot and the damn thing is fun to drive. I can't imagine spending $100,000 on a vehicle. I get apprehensive spending 1000. Then again, I'm the kind a guy that's been trying to get my hands on a really cheap vehicle. The same model as the one I'm driving something that I can take a majority of the vehicle apart and put it back together so that I know more of what I'm dealing with with out screwing up what I'm normally driving . Admittedly, I'm not capable of working on the engine and drivetrain anymore between it being highly complicated and my physical problems, but at least I can still do things like learn how to change the interior perks interior equipment. And things like the front header panel and headlights. Just haven't had any luck yet getting my hands on something for a couple hundred bucks that somebody clipped a rabbit or something. That's how I and part learn how to work on the minivans. Combination of helping other people out and then I bought a couple of scrap ones and completely tore the damn things down using the parts on one. I was driving. Learn how to do stuff like change the struts hatchback pistons steering column airbags and pretty much the entire interior as well as some of the goodies under the would like the computer battery box and other things. . I'd be scared to change a bloody fuse on a McLaren. One thing that made my skin crawl was seeing a dog sitting in the interior of $100,000 car. I don't know how I'd feel about going any distance with a dog in my thousand dollar car let alone $$100,000 dollar vehicle.

      @Steven Enno And I didn't say hire a shipper either. I was simply pointing out how expensive it is to move a car-sized door brick 300 miles. I also made no comment on Tyler's ability to afford it. But for someone so excited about an extended warranty on his new ride, it's apparent he didn't factor in the fact that it's going to be expensive to get any value out of that warranty.
