  • Today I replaced the "Ford" emblem on the tailgate of my '95 Ford Ranger. This process should be similar on any vehicle's emblem. In this video, I show you how I replaced it and what tools I used.

That chisel looks like it was the perfect tool to use for this.

It worked great, although I thought it was a bit savage for use on the paint hahaha. I did try to use a plastic scraper on the truck, but it just wasn't doing the job. Use extreme caution, I suppose xD

Tbh tho I think some 3m tape would of been a little easier to use. That's how I put my emblem on my 240.

That would work, too. It just depends how detailed you get with it, I think. If you use tape, you have to cut it around the emblem for it to seal. If you cut it into strips and place them in random areas of the emblem, you'll end up with empty space between the emblem and the car. Then you can pick at the emblem and it'll move... if you know what I mean. The glue is much harder to set correctly (if your car doesn't have the pins), but it dries solid and covers the entire area of the emblem.
I also used contact cement on the Geo I used to have xD it worked, too. It eventually yellowed on the adhesive that squeezed through the letters, but it didn't come off in the 4y that I owned it. There's also this sticky pad thing from 3M that you press the emblem against it and it applies the glue. It's kind of like an in-between thing... works well... but expensive.
