The major issue I have with megachurches simply boils down to: Do they preach the Word? Often enough, concerns other than the primary purpose for a Christian church, acting as a place for teaching the Word. In my experience, often even big churches have the idea of tempting God by using the "if you build it, they will come" theology from Field of Dreams. Massive debt, massive employment bills, often glorification of leadership, etc.
Yes, there’s always the risk of landing in a church that doesn’t preach the word. The church we went to did, but some don’t. I got closer to God and more in love with my bible during the time of our mega church experience🥰 I do not believe in the “if you build it” stuff. I think the “if you need more space b/c more and more people are coming already and we don’t have room” should be the reason for building bigger.
@@LisaDeBose Not saying all are that way, in fact my first "megachurch" was before megachurches became a thing. The pastor was one of the most Bible centric ones I've ever met. However, I've seen several that are disturbing. Otherwise they share many of the same features that you pointed out.
