    This is actually very useful. Not necessarily good for foods as pet bottles release chemicals when heated. But big heat-shrink is always welcome, especially if it is free!
    Good video as always :)

    This is a superb idea, if only to avoid the sharp corners of the transformer. Thank you for sharing your idea.

    Kudos. Very cool idea. I can already think of a couple places to use this.

    It's odd, but I was thinking about this the other day and then completely forgot I'd been thinking about it. Thanks.

    If anybodies interested. LDPE Low Density Poly Ethylene bags bottles or sheet will shrink at low heat & have softer stretcher feel. thin HDPE High Density Poly Ethylene will need slightly more heat & have more shrink & be strongest. Peace Out!

    Did you know that you can expose the bottles to a radioactivity source to make them shrink even more?
    That's a treatment they do to those shrinking plastics we are using to isolate wires.

    Great way to wrap small 18650 battery packs. no need to buy the commercial shrinkwrap really.. and this should act as a stronger & more resilient shell for them as well

  • @JessEngineer
    @JessEngineer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As soon as I saw the large electrolytic capacitors I thought that has to be very dangerous if you get polarity wrong the safety vales are covered by the shrink wrap and wont function making the whole thing explode instead of just shooting steam out of the top. Otherwise great life hack.

      you could put a spacer that doesn't cover the breaking points between the caps and the plastic

    Great ideas in these videos. Since you obviously know what you are doing do you think the block of capacitors could be used to replace a lead acid batter in a scooter?

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it won´t replace it. Maybe if you use ultracapacitors

    • @felixcat4346
      @felixcat4346 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i have. This video is probably a hoax. Ultracaps or super caps are rediculously expensive and aren't cost effective. I can imagine using large value 200 volt electrolytic capacitors will do the job just fine and probably last alot longer.

    • @troyadams19
      @troyadams19 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe if you only want your scooter to travel about 5 meters before it runs out of power.

    if the transformer heats, will the PET melt or change its shape or stay the same?

    • @thebeststooge
      @thebeststooge 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the transformer gets hot enough it will melt it and eventually could catch it on fire if the transformer can get hot enough to boil water minimum. Safe to say if it gets that hot you will have far worse things to think about.

      Here is the glass transition temp of Polycarbonate - 147 °C so before that temp it stays hard.

    heating certain plastics could release cancer causing toxic gases .. not an ideal solution for encapsulating food.. anything is fine 👍👍
