I watched on another video where they lashed two sticks together and held it over a fire. The plastic tightened up like heat-shrink tubbing for a rock solid hold. I suppose you have to be careful not to actually melt the cordage. That could be useful for lashing a knife onto a stick to make a spear or making arrows.
