      like I said earlier, not really, anyone who knows motorsport sees the death part as cliche.
      Dieing at high speeds either happens in one of two ways, blunt force trauma, or fire. Go research Groupe B and the "deadly years" of formula 1. Dom's story is so common the "creepy factor" of the coincidence is none, considering Paul Walkers love of cars and speed.

    "He's uh.. a janitor at a high school.. has to take the bus to work everyday."
    That lesson in realism is what I dearly miss about this franchise - it's become a parody of itself. Back then every moment of violence had direct consequences. Nowadays, Dom has went from a kid who watched his own father die from a racing accident that can happen to anybody, to directly smashing into the villain's car head on with his without a scratch.

      Huni Macska He says that here because he means it. Then he realized that this motto of his, the obsession with racing, gave him a rep. He made a lot of friends and admirers but also a lot of enemies, which is why you see at the end of this film he's fleeing to Mexico. Now when he finds out that Letty died (even though she didn't really, but at the time it did seem like it) he realizes that his past life, his passion for racing and winning races at whatever cost ended up costing him a part of his family, a pain that was too hard for him to bear. So that's why from then on he puts family over everything, to make sure that doesn't happen again. It would be nice to see a bit more street racing in the movies but they have a story line to keep up with, and in all honestly I like how the movies have turned out.

      Also in the later movies the characters don't give a fuck if their car gets destroyed, not to mention that the cars used in the later movies have no background story or charm to them. The earlier movies had tuners cars which had endless hours and passion put into them, now they are just generic supercars that last around 10 minutes before getting wrecked.

    I kind of still can't believe this scene is in the same franchise we have now. Having watched this a number of times it is still shocking to hear Dom describe seeing his Dad burn to death as a young man. You can also hear the regret and pain in his voice/expressions when he talks about basically making another man a barely functioning human by beating him so badly. Vin's acting in this scene is honestly superb.

I've never experienced another film that gave me the chills quite like this movie. Just so many different emotions that I feel all at once EVERY TIME I watch this scene.

    This scene is bittersweet to me; like, seeing this back then and having this tranquil, serenity feeling towards it, and now somewhat haunting because the way Dom explains how his father died, is eerily similar to how Paul Walker died. It give me the chills just thinking about it...

    Growing up, you think the movie is all about Brian's story. Being older you realize it's actually 2 fast 2 furious, and this movie is more about Dom's story.
    This also shows through the sympathetic act by brian at the very end by letting him go in the supra, after he had crashed his dad's car and survived.
    "I owe you a ten second car" was the simplest and nicest way of telling him "get the hell out of here. I didnt see you."

    I have a question. Was fast and furious originally meant be a series? Because i can find there was some changes about Dom's character. In latter series, dom emphasizes that the family is everything and the most important. Here he is kinda being for himself by saying nothing else matters more for him than racing. To me it sounds like the fast and furious was meant to be one-off movie in the beginning.

    • @99annanic
      @99annanic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      You're exactly right. This was meant to be the only film. However people demanded a sequel and we got 2 Fast 2 Furious.
      Then the franchise was 'rebooted' and then from Tokyo Drift and so on and we have a 7 (soon to be 8 or more) film series.
      I honestly love all the films, but the first two are the best cause they're are original stories. Now the focus is on more action and more Hollywood stars.
      Vin and Paul were the real stars on the franchise.

      Nic R Thank you for the information. I like the first one the most as well.
      To me, Fast and Furious is all about people's passion about car and racing. However, as the series continues, the characters have been changed. In fact, they act as if they are governmental agents in the Seven. Dom's line "This time it's just not about being fast" may sound cool and awesome, but it kinda let me down because I felt it shows how far Dom's character has departed from that in the first movie.

    • @99annanic
      @99annanic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Sun Moon also I believe Tokyo Drift was just meant to be a spin off, nothing else. Good that the producers went outside the box to continued the series with the original cast.
