Solfrid Koanda at 83.9kg is better than all the supers by at least 19kg. Instead of dropping to 81kg if she goes up to 91kg she could competed with Li Wenwen
Do you sincerely believe that there is anyone in this world that could add 63 goddamn kilos to their total by gaining a few kgs? Sulfrid is amazing but there is no way in hell she could ever come close to li wenwen. You cant be competitive as a superheavyweight weighing 91kgs.
i love solfrid but it would not work. Li is so far ahead
Tatiana Kashirina at 106kg total 348kg and didn't take her last lift. That's 13 more than Li Wenwen. Maybe Solfrid would need to go up to 95 -100kg to get to 335.
@@charlesbryant8665 Back when tatiana was dominating the supers,even some female 75 kgs were totalling much more than solfrid ever did almost regularly. Yet none of them could dare to challenge tatiana. Tatiana could have totalled around 300 had she been an 87kg lifter at her peak. She was built different. Weightlifters were built different back when countries like russia and north korea werent banned.

From what I've gathered, it might be bc a) there wouldn't be enough competitors to fill the session, and b) they don't want to make any more weight classes. I could be wrong about a though.
It's the same for men with 109+, at the top you've got Lasha who's almost 70kg over the base and a lot of guys around 150kg so it's a really wide range. And 109 just seems a low starting point for the last weight category, looks similar for women but maybe there's good reason for it, maybe there wouldn't be enough competition, maybe it also has to do with Olympics having a smaller number of categories. Would be interesting to know the actual reasons for making the categories the way they are.
I don't understand the number of weight categories, in particular why do the Olympics want to reduce the categories ? I suggest its all politics; nothing to do with the sport or the athletes. Looks disgusting and corrupt to me. Usual big money BS ?
@@thrashwerk well sure the men´s 109+ is a 3 men show, it feels like a "and now the show begins with X Y and Z" snatching many kgs more
i think it just shows even more with the women, the hungary woman started at 80kg snatch with a 100+ bodyweight, not to hate on her but she didn´t look very happy or in shape (visibly out of breath) and some women in lighter classes lifted so much more then her

Man, they really need another weight class! As it stands 87kg seems like way too low of a cutoff for a heavyweight category.
Similarly with the men's 109. They're surprisingly low cutoffs for the unlimited categories.
my Teacher is second place in the Lifesaving World champion in two categories, and in school he just goes about his day it's crazy

i can't wrap my head around how the majority of those super heavy athletes lift way less then most of the womans in the lighter categoris. i don't know much about the competitive side of the sport and genuinely asking

Damn. Fischer extends very early in the snatch. She’s on her toes before contact and it looks very strange. I wonder what she would be able to do in the snatch if she could correct this and generate more power.
