Those lifts were awesome! Been following Meng Suping awhile and happy for her to finally get gold. I don't know why Robles didn't try for more. It seemed like she had alot left in her.

Congratulations to all of these women for doing something incredible!! It was so refreshing to see an athlete from the DPRK but I feel as though those were tears of sadness. I hope she does well if she competes in Tokyo 2020 and I really hope she was welcomed home with respect

Usually being 2nd place is the worse because you were just shy of winning the Olympic Gold. While 3rd place you've made it on the podium and go home with an Olympic medal, something a lot of their opponents don't get.

Noticed this too. Came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed. Totally inappropriate and entirely brushed over by all. Not ok especially with what came out about the American gymnasts soon hereafter
Perhaps it's because I am unfamiliar with the rules or technicalities of this sport, but I found the commentary to be most annoying. Obviously, it's a competition, and there are a set of expectations in order for these incredibly strong women to win, and I was celebrating all of them even when it seemed like they did not accomplish their goal. The commentary seemed a bit negative and picky and every little thing, especially the female voice (I am assuming it is a female). I have heard good commentary and this was not it. It's strange because I know the women are in their zone, but wouldn't crowd enthusiasm be welcomed? Idk, it just didn't sound good to me.

Crazy but a woman at 86kg bodyweight snatched 113kg whereas those at 130kg+ bodyweights either barely lifted or couldn't lift their bodyweight.
Can these spectators stop judging them , they are under enough pressure 🤦🏻
They are commentators. They need to talk about the technicalities and the athletes’ performance. It’s their job.

metal rod is 20 kg.
One red disk is 25kg Three red bars are 75kg:)
In women the metal rod is 20kg, in the men it is 25kg.
Okay I just search it, it actually the barbell and the collar on the right and left. Barbell for men is 20 kg for women it's 15 kg. And the collar is 2.5 kg for one collar respectively. I used to watch men weightlifting though, that's why. 😅

I hope the North Korean was appreciated when she went back home. From all the horrors I've heard about North Korea, I really they were just a bit exaggerated. She did well.
trust me, the biggest horror in NK is the US sanction, without that it's just a normal country, people would be just fine.

I like all Olympic lifting but this is my least favorite category. There are women snatching nearly 1.5x there bodyweight in the lower categories and it's insanely impressive.

Yes it's anyone over 75kg. For example, the North Korean weighed in at 100.34kg while the American weighed in at 143.3.

now i know why everybody is angry about transgender woman in sport..... i am a carpenter i dont do any sport but i lift up to 150-300 kilo wood every day without beeing a trained weight lifter so.....i guess they should think about transgender woman in sport again because the womans world record is half the weight of my daily work !
