Awesome thank you so much for this video. The holding sleeves ive already been doing a wear a shawl with long sleeves lol so I'm already use to holding my sleeves back when picking things up. Thanks again much love from Colorado 🙂❤️✌🏻
I can assure you - as someone who wears kimono as part of my usual wardrobe in Japan - nobody will knock you if you laugh loudly, cross your legs, dance, kick your kimono front out of the way when you walk fast or rest your back on the train seat. Kimono wearers are humans with human behaviors and human needs. Let’s not make wearing kimono some kind of fine-dining-with-the-Emperor occasion. I wore mine to hair salons where I sat with my legs crossed reading manga for an hour while getting a haircut. It can be that normal.
I’ve got a great idea. Go make your own video instead of criticizing someone who works so hard on their own. 😂😂😂😂 seems like you don’t value kimono in ways real Japanese people do. Cultural appropriation much??
YES! I can't agree more! I am a Japanese and I know lots of Japanese girls who enjoy kimono as their fashion choices. They laugh, they run, they have a good time as like any other girls who are in their favorite outfits. Making those kimono roles weirdly harder has made the beautiful clothes fade away from our culture. We must stop it.
@@sensen2299 I have seen so many ladies in their semi-formal kimono run at subway stations to catch the next train 🤣 These are people who actually live in kimono. And they treat it with the respect and integrity as one would for a piece of clothing. If clothing is not worn in life, they become ceremonial, rigid, and eventually fade away. And in life, you just gotta be you
I loved this video! I study Japanese (which I actually learned hiragana from one of your videos!😂❤) And I love learning about Japanese culture the most! Kimono is so pretty and I'd love to learn more about it's history ❤️ Also I am extremely clumsy and slightly afraid of stairs so I typically walk up and down stairs like that all of the time, no matter what I'm wearing 🤣❤️
こんにちはサイバーバニー I was wondering whether you could make a video on Mora? Also do Japanese houses (including apartments) have stairs? I'm asking because I want to move to Japan when I'm older, but I'm disabled 😢
@@TuberoseKisser thanks! I’m happy to know that. I have a few invisible disabilities… sometimes people assume I’m being lazy or rude because I don’t “look disabled” . I’ve ALWAYS wanted to wear a kimono so hopefully I don’t come off as rude when I achieve that some day.
Do men have the same social standards when wearing kimonos? (Sorry I'm not educated on the topic, this is my first time looking into kimono behaviours.)
I love your videos! I'm doing a Japanese exchange program so it's great to learn more! I was wondering though, can i wear the Kimono as a hijabi? or is that considered rude? What do you think? :D
Do you mean you want to wear kimono while also wearing hijab? I don’t see any problem with that (I wear kimono a lot). There is also no dressing difficulty when you wear a hijab. So have fun with it the way you feel most comfortable 👌🏻
A lot of this just makes since for anyone in a dress with long sleeves. Don't stick your sleeve in your food, don't let your bum hang out. USA and England agree these are good rules.
Hi ! I would like to tell you about an error I saw before going to watch your video. I don't remember if it was in the title of the video or in the miniature of the video but there was written "hoari" (and I even thought it was something else) instead of "haori". So if it was in the title, it is ok, you already changed it. I just hope it wasn't in the miniature because it is more difficult to change that ! PS : thank you for your work and this video you made. I think it will be useful to many strangers to Japan.
I know this is a super long shot, but you wouldn't by any chance happen to play Mario Kart 8, would you? There was someone with a mii in an online worldwide lobby that looked super like you, and I was just curious, as they were also from Japan 😅
note: most of these rule only apply in formal situations

Quick question… what if you have a physical disability that prevents you from say sitting on your knees, or bending without rounding?
These are for formal situations, even then if you have a medical reason then you're automatically excluded from these rules

Fun fact - I will die in japan

God, I thought my OCD was bad.
American/English Etiquette 🙅♂️💩🥱
Japanese Etiquette 🧐👂✍️
third I love your videos.
All of these rules beg the question: how prevalent is OCD in Japan? 😅
