In today's upload rather than go out for a drive like planned due to the weather, I decided to tell the story of my second car. A 1973 Ford Galaxie 500! It looked, sounded and ran GREAT! It was the perfect car to have to be able to participate in local cruise nights and car shows.
Stay tuned for more daily videos while here in the state if NJ dealership sales departments are on lock down.
    Thanks for subscribing ;)

I see you have an MRE on the shelf. Back in the 80s they had dehydrated fruit in them. It looked like a hard sponge. We also had another name for the meal. Using the MRE letters.

@@DaveBsellsChevyWhile we are out in the field. We only got one a day for lunch that we had to pack with us where ever we went. We got a hot breakfast and a hot dinner.

Great story Dave. You were smart for taking and keeping the pictures you did!! I wish I had pix from different eras in my life, and of all the cars I had.

Nice Ford. My dad had a 74 Galaxie 500 He bought right before the 75s came out. It was a demo. 15,000 miles. I learned to drive in the Galaxie.

Dave, loved the old 1973 Ford. Nice copper color.
That "poor boy theft deterrent" that used the cigar lighter was ingenious. When you pushed in the cigar lighter, the circuit was closed and caused the lighter element to heat. After about 10 seconds the metal expanded and forced the lighter to pop out and break the circuit. A previous owner just disconnected the power wire and the ground wire at the lighter assembly base and spliced the start circuit wire between the ignition key switch in series, through the lighter and onto the starter relay / solenoid.
Seems to be an easy, fool proof way to disable the starter. Unfortunately the hoods were not locked on most cars in the 1970s. Open the hood and if you had a screwdriver you could bypass and activate the starter at the relay. This link shows a guy using a screwdriver to bypass and activate the starter on an old Ford or Lincoln. Note you have to know what your doing or you most certainly will "light up your life"!
    th-cam.com/video/ZRlRinL-N-8/w-d-xo.html
Since the starter relay / solenoid was mounted high on the passenger side inner fender, it was easy to bypass. So these cars were relatively easy to steal.
Pulling an engine and doing a minor overhaul with new bearings and lower seals at age 20. I do not even think I would want to tackle that today at an advanced age. Kudoos to you!
So you want a rear engine Chevy Corvair rampside truck. Not many of those left today. Chevy only made those from 1961 - 1964 and it was a small production run. Something like 20,000 produced over 4 years. Engine located under the raised load floor in the rear is certainly unique.
All these hidden talents. No wonder you are successful at car sales. Great video!

Thanks for watching! It sounds like you know you stuff when it comes to electrical. I like the rampside.. I think it is so unique.. Put a modern style to it and I think it'll look pretty cool.

Got back to finish watching the video. My dads car had a voltage drain. Remember it was almost new. We finally figured out the truck light switch was defective. Stayed on all the time. Replaced switch solved problem
I like the color of your Galaxie. I was pushing him toward a brand new leftover loaded up 74 LTD. the color of yours with a cream colored top Nd interior. Uh. NO. sticker on it was about $5200. H got the demo Galaxie for $3995

Dave B sells Chevy Thanks. Nope, too many issues to try them again although I do like the styling of some of their current vehicles.
The biggest issue that my F150 had was coolant in the oil (5.4L Triton). And one time when leaving the dealer the driveshaft fell out doing 55 mph on the way home. And that wasn’t even an issue I had, they gave me that one lol.

Love the Galaxie. I agree, though, that a Corvair would be a great addition, although I’d prefer a two door Monza over the rampside

Dave I just purchased a brand new sporty model of the equinox 2020. Not really sure if I am sold with after driving it for about a month. I am thinking of going back to test drive the traverse. What is the big difference between the 2020 equinox and the 2020 traverse

    • @DaveBsellsChevy
      @DaveBsellsChevy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Mainly the size. The Traverse is much larger, has the 3rd row, has the 3.6L V6... They can be optioned out pretty much the same as the Equinox. The Traverse is more expensive.
