What a beautiful car. It's a shame that our current "disposable K-cup society" cares more about SUV's and Crossovers and these cars go by and large unnoticed this day & age. Them fools don't know what they're missing. Anyone who thinks that a crossover has more style than this is a person who, "the only taste they have is in their mouth"!
The issue is not new; in my youth 30 years ago I asked ppl what car they would love to have, they asked me and clear as day I recall their laugh and mockery when I said mid '70s Gran Torino or LTD ... They told me they would love to have a '86 isuzu (whatever that ugly little square joke of a car was, didn't last at all), or honda civic or '88 5 speed mustang ... I'd like to bump into them now !!
Wow I could not have said that any better that I've got to give you a double high-five for that one and yeah this is back when a time when cars were cars and people were real people that drove them and now it's all days about fancy coffee shops sitting out in tea rooms and things like that these cars were great I used to have one of these and I sure miss it I also had a 1975 Mercury Grand Marquis that had a 460 in it and I love that car I also miss the seat belt systems that they had on these cars where as soon as you took it out of park it made the buzzer stay on but I always wore my seatbelt but it was always fun to mess with the passenger if they didn't have theirs on when they would sit down on the weight sensor :-)
Mine was a 2 door Brougham Dark Red metallic. It had a 400M, that I bored to a 425 Cleveland forged all race. Total sleeper in all power luxury. Still have the drive train including the ATI race C-6 and 9 inch 4:11 rear. Sure miss that beauty. She rusted out on the main frame back in 1990.
@Skip R you are correct, the 400M had a 4.00 stroke. I had the block sleeved and bored to a 4.30. With TRW oversized forged pistons, Voila, you have a 425. If you would like to see the engine, it's on a stand in my garage right now. Bring your ruler....... Glad you caught that. I have corrected the post.
Memories!!!! I love the LTD’s!! 1st car - 78 LTD 4D, 351C. 2nd - 77 LTD II Sport 2D, 351M. That was in the late ‘80’s... Super Reliable, Rode Like a Dream! Back Seat was Like a Motel Room😂
That is a very beautiful car and it sounds so good I love these cars they were one of the best cars ever made and they rode like an easy chair going down the road and had the best air conditioning systems
@Skip R or maybe I'm just saying there are better options for these cars like 302 or the super famous and highly recognised 351... If it's just a quest for humongous engine sizes, why not a ford V10 ? Or the old Cadillac V16 ? How far can you go ?
Actually it grew ... In 1973 federal law demanded a larger gap between bumper and body all cars had to comply The 1971-1972 models are a few inches shorter than the 1973-1978 models The Gran Torino makes it more evident to appreciate 1974-1976
My, how far we have fallen when it comes originality, style and class, agree with you there 83 burner, SUV'S and crossovers look pretty much the same. Not much styling difference between them, think at least a couple of Toyota models in the Front look like Star Wars Storm Troopers
@Skip R My family left Russia escaping stalin. No need to mention communism I know from my folks it's dangerous garbage it's not communism but common sense 460 is a ridiculously big engine for a car 302 and 351 have proven excellent for large vehicles You may want to practice some spelling "Not Allowed" instead of "not aloud" hahahaha

Amen
which is exactly why now is the time to buy before they get back in fashion again and prices skyrocket

Gas Crisis continuing to kill the Classic Car Industry has a Huge part to do with that.

460 yeah baby
That is a beautiful ride
I had one with a 460 too - torque monster.
And a daily trip to the petrol pump :/
This may be the best 1973 LTD in existence. I would love to own this car.
Those 460s are awesome 👌, like Burt Renyolds stood in front of that Custom 500 and said DOG GONE WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT MOTOR 😀 😄.
Dats dat Gator!
Beautiful car! Best of the best.
I had a '73 Mercury like this with a 460...
That sounds so sweet
Is there a ride video? My first car was a 1973 LTD.
Vor DREI Jahren und TH-cams Algorythmus zeigt es mir jetzt an 🙈
That's a beauty! 😍🤯
Beautiful... is it For sale?
Been sold already
@@USCARBUDDIES how much did you sell it for
Also want to know the price.
Rare with a 460!
Wasting petrol...
@Skip R or maybe I'm just saying there are better options for these cars like 302 or the super famous and highly recognised 351...
If it's just a quest for humongous engine sizes, why not a ford V10 ? Or the old Cadillac V16 ?
How far can you go ?
Looks Sharp!
Beautiful machine!
Sweet ride
My Grandmother had one except it was a 4dr. same color.
Wow.....thats all i can say...wow
I bet even that boat scoots with a 460 in it.
Beautiful!
Nivel car
very powerful
Nise LTD
And to think this is down sized from the previous year!
Actually it grew ... In 1973 federal law demanded a larger gap between bumper and body all cars had to comply

with that size motor, the ltd didn't put out more than 225 h.p
Don't know what size motor 🤔
Putting the " full in full-size" is it forsale?
tire size please???
Would love to help you, but the car has been sold and I don't have any records of the tire size. Sorry.
@@USCARBUDDIES darn it ok thanks
@@busterlouie6176 most likely 225/70/15 or 235/60/15. If that's any help to you! A real nice LTD!
@@codyluka8355 thanks
I have the same one with 4 doors
I don’t care for the yellow fog lights. They seem out of place

BIG & NASTY CAR
Barnaby Jones
Drive it or hit the road.
1973 ? Lol
The time of the oil crisis and this car could not accept a 302 that they "had" to put a 460 ... makes no sense
@Skip R
