There is an Egyptian god named "Heh", the god of eternity or infinity. There is also a female version, "Hauhet". They existed before the creation of the world, when all was chaos. The ancient Egyptians consider the time before creation as chaos. oh, also, "heh" is the ancient Egyptian word for that chaos, normally translated as "flood"...

I think the static squiggles on a digital clock mean it's CGI and they know exactly what time is displayed. It is pretty amazing how many companion outfits Mrs. Flood has.

    • @philstraintravels9281

Exactly, the break up of the radio display is clearly CGI. Now fair enough the audio would break up in to digital mush as anybody who has listened to DAB is almost certainly familiar with, they knew exactly what was in that shot. Out of interest, what song was playing on Radio 1? Was it just a favourite of the effects department or could it have greater meaning? I now listen to Greatest Hits Radio and have no idea what is in the hit parade or 1FM playlist.

There have been a few references to music & water together ever since Melody Pond - ie River Song, the Harmony Shoal, and now Mrs Flood with all of the musical numbers/references to singing/music in this season. Not sure if intentional or suggesting something? Also, on another note -I don’t think Mrs Flood dropped her shopping because she was shocked at a disappearing box. Rather that she was shocked she hadn’t realized the box was a TARDIS until it disappeared in front of her.

I feel like the mystery surrounding Ruby's mother was a misdirect created by Mrs Flood. We have all the things happening, yet Louise turns out to be an ordinary person. The Doctor's eyes have been looking at the wrong person. Mrs Flood plots, never even being suspected. A genius move.

I don't mind Ruby's mother being an ordinary human. I *do* mind the ridiculous explanation of the pointing, especially since the Doctor himself states that he didn't see her point when he was there -- the memory changed afterwards. I would much prefer *that* to have been the explanation: Louise Miller didn't point at anything, but some entity tampered with her after-image (in the Doctor's memory, in the videotape, in the Time Window, etc.) to make it look as if she did. If this is Mrs Flood's doing, it could actually tie in nicely with her "clever boy" comment: she planted that misdirect to mislead both the Doctor and Sutekh -- since the best way to fool Sutekh into believing that Ruby's mother was super-important was to fool the Doctor into thinking so as well; but at least the Doctor was clever enough to make good use of the misdirect

The counter argument is "Even stories end." I don't like this series going against gods because the Doctor, for all his intelligence and wit, is still mortal and the ways he's beaten these gods has been rather cheesy thus far. I hate Mrs. Flood breaking the 4th Wall - I hope it turns out that she's actually addressing someone we can't see, perhaps some of her other brethern. If she is the God of Stories then I hope it does tie into The Mind Robber. That was an underrated classic.

Flood = River = Pond - brings in companion references, and 'clever boy' is very River.
Stories - libraries (a land of fiction, and where River is living digitally) - books - spoilers (if she knows how the stories ends).

The "snow" that appeared throughout the series but which was never explained might be linked to Mrs Flood up on the roof, in white, in the snow, with a white umbrella.... and a Christmas Episode on the horizon? Mrs. Flood being the god of stories makes sense. It also makes sense that in regard to Sutekh as she might not be able to interfere with Sutekh because she cannot oppose him. Mrs. Floods' statement made it sound more like she was going to storm the gates of heaven and overthrow the god of the universe.
I do not think that she is the god of time. If she was then I think that she would have been able to defeat Sutekh or keep herself from being affected by Sutekh's death wave. When it comes to a matter of power then I do not think that even Death can stand against Time. Death needs time to function.

My theory is that Mrs Flood herself was an ordinary person before being taken over by one of the Pantheon. Before her final scene on Church on Ruby Road, she behaves like an ordinary person threw out her appearances in the Special. Then when the Doctor fixed the goblins time alteration and returned to the true time line, Mrs Flood seemed to have changed in personality. Perhaps a member of the Pantheon became aware of the time alliteration and escaped it's realm by possessing Mrs Flood.

I'd say she's River Song. The "Flood" -> "River" name connection, the fact that she's married, her calling the Doctor "Clever Boy", the Darillium sticker on her suitcase, the way she says she's "hiding herself away" like the Doctor says Time Lords do, the lingering question of what happened to her post-Forest of the Dead now that we know genetically pure Time Lords don't have a regeneration limit... too much evidence to ignore!!!

This is interesting. If, as Ellie suggests, Mrs. Flood knows how stories end, that could mean that she is living time in a different way - in the other direction, from end to beginning. River Song also experiences time backward, in the opposite direction from the experience of the Doctor.
Another person in a comment below spoke about Heh, the Egyptian god/dess of chaos. Heh, they said, translates as “flood.” This flood marks the beginning of the human story. River Song caused some chaos, herself.

Love all this aside from the end. It’s nothing to do with purity. In the timeless children, it’s explained that the limit on regenerations was manually bestowed through the gene splicing. To me, the answer to the question of who Mrs. Flood is was obvious right from the start. There is one other person with such intimate knowledge about the Doctor and his Tardis, and Mrs. Flood's name pretty much is a dead ringer, although admittedly, it would be a case of "Mr. Davies, you've got some 'splainin' to do".
Let's call her the Lady of Time.
Let's not forget that Russel T. Davies is a master in writing plot devices that seem like misdirects at first but turn out to be red herrings all along afterwards.

I appreciate that Davies and Moffett enjoy the fans guesses, and can still surprise us.
As always, thank you all so very much for the video.
Could Mrs. Flood be Carla Oswald? Might she be Ashildr? (Probably not, but it's fun to speculate.) (I've previously guessed Susan, and Melody Pond.)

Rani also seems to love makeup and being sneaky with her plots. If she wanted to get close to the Doctor, he would never suspect her till she finally revealed herself.

There have been a few moments in this series where I think it is hinted that continuity is breaking down - like you touched on with the clock, and wow I did not notice that in my watching at the time. And I don't read it as being by accident. Like how in the second episode I think there was a fairly throw away line when Doctor says to Ruby something like "This has been what? Six months for you". That's not a line that makes the cut by mistake. And it can be edited out if there's a reshuffles of episodes after filming

Fun fact about The Time Monster. One of the characters was supposed to have a cat but every time Delgado was in a scene with the cat it would hiss at him. So they had to fire the cat for not being friendly. If you watch the story on DVD/Blu-ray with the Info Text turned on you can find all sorts of stuff about the show.

To me, my first thought was that Mrs Flood is the Master because she has this behavior similar to Sacha Dawan's Master and in the 60th special, the toymaker said that the master was trapped inside the golden ring he wore. At the end of the special, we see this same ring being left on the edge of the UNIT building and Mrs Flood appears after that event.
But I have to admit that with all the details you displayed in the video, that doesn't fit quite well, especially for the 4th wall breaking.

Land of Fiction/ Mind Robber is my theory. The Tardis was flung into another universe at the beginning of Mind Robber. This fits in nicely with the fact that when 14th went to the edge of the universe at Wild Blue Yonder. The salt superstition is what allowed The Toymaker to break through into “our” universe.
Mrs Floor is the human puppet used by the unseen aliens in Mind Robber (they weren’t named or seen so this gives RTD full power to design a new alien/god). Also the puppet was named the Master (no relation to the timeLord but we know how much RTD likes to mess with the fans).

Red Dwarf did the Meta thing brilliantly in the mini series Back to Earth and RTD has already admitted he is not averse to ripping off ideas from other franchises (Ruby's mother mystery). Could we see the Doctor meet RTD and Ncuti at a comicon? Also given the focus on Orphans and searching for your mother, could Mrs Flood be the Doctor's Mother and for that matter if Susan is the Doctor's Granddaughter, who are her parents and her Grandmother. Too many questions.

  • @ugolomb
    @ugolomb 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

two points occur to me. First, the notion of Mrs Flood's "Maker" being RTD ties in with a notion I've had for a while, for a Doctor Who spoof (a-la "Curse of Fatal Death") in which the main villain is called The Showrunner.
Second is a continuity question which the clock issue reminded me of: from the point of view of everybody who was revived after Sutetkh's defeat, how much time has passed from their deaths to their resurrections? From the Doctor's point of view, it took him anything from many hours to many days or more to defeat Sutekh; yet it seems that, once he did defeat him in each and every time frame he visited, time re-set itself so that, from (say) Kate's point of view, mere seconds have passed between her demise and her return. This is strongly suggested but (as far as I could tell) never made explicit

Interesting. The plot point at the end of Pyramids of Mars was that the signal took time to travel from Mars to Earth. So in both the original Sutekh story and in this one (barring continuity errors) the key is that the Doctor acts after the time the problem happened but still solved the problem in time.
And, in 73 Yards, Ruby had some memory of having lived the life before, showing time was manipulated.
Still, given the latter episode and its link to the range of the Tardis's perception filter, that makes it more likely that Mrs Flood is the/a Tardis than a god of time. Maybe split the difference and call Mrs Flood an avatar of the time vortex.

Ok, but why didn't she know at first? Misses Flood had no clue what the Tardis was until The Doctor went back to save baby Ruby, then suddenly she was like this, knowing things, breaking the 4th wall, etc, ya know? So what changed? I'm super down for her being a Clara, she lept into his timestream, as he said, "even the days I (he) hasn't lived yet", so hypothetically there should be just as many Clara's as there were Susan Triad's, if not significantly more, since A, timeless child, and B, Sutekh was only from Baker to Ncuti, Clara's the whole timeline, right? But something definitely changed between the beginning of Church on Ruby Road and The Doctor going back to save baby Ruby, so how could it be a Clara, if it was a Clara, she wouldn't know The Doctor, would've met him, got caught up in some bs, and probably die saving 15, it just doesn't add up to Misses Flood, so my bet is, as cool and possible as it would be, she's not a Clara.

I think the direct fourth-wall-breaking is a shared trait of the Pantheon gods, at least as depicted in this era. Maestro in particular addresses the camera and plays the theme song on the piano. Toymaker also hams it up for the camera, with several shots of actions performed for nobody's benefit but the audience. Sutekh much less so, but his obsession with the season's mystery does place him a little outside the story. Toymaker and Sutekh also share a quirky control over screens and displays. So I do take Mrs. Flood's narration as indication she's one of the Gods, and not necessarily one related to storytelling specifically.
