I’m a smoker and don’t have any issue with the smoking policies & will continue to follow the rules set forth. I’m like that in regular life anyway…. I’m careful about exposing non smokers. If I couldn’t smoke at all, I’m sure I wouldn’t cruise because I cannot go that long.
Agreed, but that there is not one indoor smoking area is kinda bothering me. Airports have designated indoor smoking areas too. On a bad weather day you can't go outside to smoke. Atleast have these ventilated smoking stations.
I got off the MSC Seaside a couple of weeks ago in the Western Mediterranean. I'm a smoker and had no issues about the smoking policies. I was generally out on the starboard of deck7 where I could smoke. With the bar and the pool there, it was quite comfortable, albeit pretty crowded if you got there a little late, lol. There were also two other outside starboard decks where smoking was permitted. I did notice that the smoking side of the casino was significantly busier than the non-smoking side. One thing to note, this is an Italian cruise line that was cruising through Italy, France, and Spain. In Europe, smoking isn't frowned upon as much as in North America, so that probably had an impact on the number of smoker's on board. At least on my cruise, I didn't notice any dirty looks or scowls when a non-smoker came from the port side (non-smoking side) of deck 7 to the smoking side to get a drink from the bar, which was on the smoking side. Everyone just got along... what a concept! You are absolutely right Chris, the cruise line will go with whatever makes more money. That's what business does.
I have no problem with the smoking rules as long as they have a few places where I can, I will go where I can. I remember when you couldn't smoke at all on the ships so at least you can smoke on the ships now.
If people are banned from smoking than alcohol should be banned as well, I don’t smoke or drink and yet , I am sick to death at drunks throughout the entire cruise causing problems or possibly falling overboard
There are 4 small lines that still allows smoking on your balcony.....Costa, Fred Olsen and 2 more. "Emma Cruises" has those cruise lines listed on her Web site and TH-cam channel.
NCL has a cigar smoking room, no cigarettes allowed. I don't understand why there can't be one area, set aside inside a ship for cigarette smokers for embarkation or nasty weather, if cigar smokers can have an area. Oddly enough, the QM2 has only one, ONE outside smoking area, which isn't that large, but you can smoke cigarettes (not cigars) upstairs in the nightclub during operating hours or bad weather. Again QM2 has it's own cigar bar too, no cigarettes allowed. The most puzzling thing to me is why the adults only serenity areas don't have one corner with one table and a few chairs set aside for smokers...
I am a smoker and i always follow the rules and respect non smokers. I am like that in my daily life. However no one mentions alcohol and why being stupid drunk all over the 😮ship is permitted. I seen a couple fall over a baby stroller and it was laughed off but if a smoker is an inch beyond the smoking area they are considered a felon!
I spent 22 years in the Royal Navy, at the start of my carreer it was allowed to smoke throughout the ship, mess decks, passgeways etc. At the end of my carreer smoking was only allowed at designated locations on the upper deck. Obviously there were many times even that smoking on the upper deck was banned, action stations, flying stations, refuelling etc. The only reason I will not go on a cruise is because I refuse to get treated like a social outcast due to my smoking habit. I totally respect the wishes of non smokers, but refuse to give my money to a company that is not taking my wishes to heart. It would be easy to have indoor locations where smoking was allowed, with smoke filters installed but as time goes on, and less and less people smoke, smokers will be outcast. Not complaining, just stating the facts that the rules are not about promoting health, its just more expensive to accomodate smokers and if the majority are non smokers, the rules will get stricter.
Have you seen the effect of fires onboard ships? At sea, the wind velocity coupled with a fire source is like a blowtorch. Smoking in designated areas is the safest course. Anywhere else means you dont give a damn about yourself and others.
This is why I never took holidays with cruise lines, I'm smoker not heavy but still smoke especially while on holiday. I think same goes to all smokers, so cruise lines lose smoking customers 🤣
As a smoker I don't mind the rules as long as the outside smoking area has some cover. I would never consider an Alaska or Transatlantic cruise on a ship that had no overhead heating or cover. At that point I would feel like I was a third class guest.
Yeah, I think commonsense is more and more rare, ie... fights on cruise ships, passengers throwing things overboard, and parents not attending to their kids. We have stated cruising during the school year and booking the spa deck for a little more peace and quiet. We're not quite ready for the old people cruises!!
I don’t agree there needs to be a place to smoke no smoker can go several hours without a smoke. I was looking to go on a cruise and now don’t feel like wasting the money
I don't smoke and my husband does. I did though and quit because of the smell, so I get no cabins and balconies, and understand the people who don't like it in the casino, as the smell doesn't stay in there. But, I also get the money making aspect. We cruise Princess, and during fueling, on the Grand Class ships, you cannot smoke on deck 7 starboard , but you can still smoke on deck 16 port. I totally the understand both sides. But, as far as Princess, they really do.have the smoking sections cordoned off from other areas outside. Just please, for all that is right and following the rules, DO NOT take the ashtrays out beyond that section. UGH. Nothing irks me more than pushing the rules.
This is why I have my vape of choice packed. Also smokers should get a box of nicotine patches. They should already know they are hated by everyone and be respectful.
i am a smoker of Heets that has zero 2nd hand smoke. so i am sure that will suprise people who am sure i am "smoking" when i go on my cruise in the fall. ps no smell either.
@@kathryngrant582 No smell? Sorry, but all of the pre-heated tobacco things like IQOS, HEETS etc. smells like old socks mixed with used diapers. Hate it more than common cigarette smoke.
good to know you are filled with HATE. i hope i am never on a fun loving cruise with haters. i have never had anyone tell me my vape smelled like diapers. but whatever your nose tells you. i cant stand the smell of the buffet. so i just dont go there.@@peetee7327
I use tobacco too. To wipe my @ss as it grows in the ditch from coast to coast in Canada and I never remember toilet paper on the road. Only thing that nasty weed is good for, big, soft, velvety leaves! I hate all smoke, wood, charcol, incense, pot, tobacco, crack, etc.
I didn't start out as an anti-smoking Nazi. I quit pot 32 yrs ago. There should ba an exclusively smoking cruise ship call it Tropic of Cancer, tour the plantations. Vaping while said to be harmful, doesn't offend me, half the flavours are good. I don't mind it in an elevator. Anal log cigs make me instantly ballistically angry, as offensive as close proximity to fresh vomit¬! Can carry over 300 ft!

Right on, I’m a cigarette smoker and feel the same way

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Just have a smoking room in the Casino, NCL has a few ship like that.
So do HOLLAN on some Ships ....
I am a nicotine addict. I used to cruise every year until they cancelled smoking on my balcony. I wish there was a line or just a ship for us addicts.

My wife and I both smoke and have no problems with the policies.

I'm a smoker and I would fully support a total smoking ban in all indoor areas including the casino and have a covered outdoor smoking arera
Could I bring a vaporizer nicotine stick on board
You can smoke on a cruise as long as you're at a casino paying money...if you want to smoke on a cruise or a jet...have a private one.
I don’t agree there needs to be a place to smoke no smoker can go several hours without a smoke. I was looking to go on a cruise and now don’t feel like wasting the money
My husband and I are both heavy smokers, NCL have so many places you can smoke on their ships. Bit the bullet and book one, you won’t be sorry.
Aboard ship the Captain IS law under international sea laws. It's funny how people forget.
I'm going on a carnival cruise at the end of this month. I vape and I was wondering if the rules are the same for vaping
Yes they are
No fire alarm is going to go off, and vape 'smoke' does not linger. Vape in your room and on your balcony, that is what i do. Zero issues.

Incidentally, vapes and e-cigarettes are considered the same as regular cigarettes on a cruise. You have to go to the smoking areas to use them.
Vape’s are even worse for you than cigarettes lol
