I started reading Reach for the Stars and spotted my manager’s name in the acknowledgements like what 😂 tbf I should’ve seen it coming… he’s legit a 90s pop super fan and friends with the author 😂
So I was born Nov 99 but my sister was born 95 so I grew up on so much if this pop and you have gotten me so nostalgic just talking about reach for the stars. I even got to see sclub 3 when rhey came to the club im leeds in my first year of uni in 2018. Matt was my busted husband and I had the sticker book amd everything. And I got to watch the s club 7 tv show because my mum recorded it on video. I'm running to go buy it
I'm from the UK and was born in 1990, so I really need to read Reach for the Stars!! I went to the S Club reunion tour last year and Girls Aloud this year!
You looked so much brighter after your time away ☺ nothing like a lil getaway to boost the mood! I'm so glad these were all successes to some degree, I've watched so many anticipated reads vlogs recently where most of the books flopped! I guess only one of these books was a 2024 release though.
Firekeeper’s Daughter is one of my all time favourite books. Warrior Girl Unearthed (by the same author) also might be the best book I’ve read so far this year. They’re just such important topics and so well written.
S Club 7 was a huge part of my 90’s girl heart even in the US and I came home from school every day to watch their show in the late 90’s! Nostalgic just thinking about them ❤
as an american who's always been obsessed with british pop culture, reach for the stars sounds like my new fav book! girls aloud is just banger after banger
I accidentally read the sequel to Firekeeper's Daughter, Warrior Girl Unearthed, first, and I liked it a lot more. I think Firekeeper's Daughter feels like a debut, and a lot of Bouley's issues with writing are ironed out in the follow up. Plus, I just found the protagonist more relatable, and that helped!
I can relate to you totally getting into that music book about the bands you grew up with. So cool and fun. When I was watching those singing competitions that Andrew Lloyd Webber put on to find new leads for West End shows, one week I was introduced to the Girls Aloud song "See the Day" and it has stuck with me -- it's a beautiful melody and was sung very well by them.
I’m a ‘95 baby and I can’t wait to read and finish this! ❤ (I started it but then paused it when I was unwell). Omg Seeing Double is such a good film!!!
Love it 😂. I would kill (or you know - something equally dramatic) to see you read India Holton’s The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels! It’s just so camp and fun! And about *women* !
I was born 8 years before you and yeah I remember a few of those bands, some didn't go international so I don’t know about thrm but some did obviously the spice girls but i remember that show about S Club 7 lmao
Can I just say as an avid fan on your channel and the housewives I was SHOCKED that you didn’t use that clip from RHOC Shannon vs Kelly ‘*points* IT WAS YOUUUU’ when talking about the Jane Austen murder mystery 🤣
Eee I’ll have to give that a read god your taking me back to my fave childhood songs lol. Omg busted I loved them so much I would love going to my corner shop when the new magazines would come out and I’d buy any with busted on 😂
You should ask an A.I. for recommendations one month! I asked ChatGPT once... just told it some of my favourite books and it recommended other books I might like... it was spot on hahaha
You've probably already seen it but if not you should definitely watch Becoming Jane, idk how accurate it is to Austen's actual life but its such a fun great movie, Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy are so good in it
I defo need to pick up that non-fiction. I was obsessed with all these groups just like you but I know nothing about them and the industry outside of their songs.
I've been wanting to read Miss Austen Investigates but I want to finish Emma first, Emma is too long though like Miss Jannifer Austen how did you wrote 8000 pages of fun?!?
I wonder if Miss Austen Investigates relies on the name recognition. Does it have to be Jane Austen? Is it just a historical mystery with a character backstory that they made similar to Jane’s? Did her brother actually have learning difficulties or is that just in there as part of the conflict? I just wonder if it’s relying on her name while doing the bare minimum by aligning some of the backstory and making the whole story just another historical mystery.
no it actually is quite accurate to her life! her brother Georgy did have learning difficulties, the man she has a romance with in this book she had a brief romance with and wrote to her sister about it, and also her cousin Eliza features who inspired a lot of her characters! so i think the author did a good job of researching her life and using that to build the story
I’m so sorry but this annoys me every time: Britpop isn’t just British Pop, it’s like specifically early 90s guitar bands like Blur, Oasis and Pulp. LOVE how half the S Club Juniors reinvented themselves as the Saturdays!
You should definitely do a month where you get Mara from bookslikewhoa to pick your tbr again, she'll get a perfect score easy lol
I’m 29 and I just phased out YA and I didn’t even notice until I looked at my Goodreads. I’m just not drawn to them anymore. It’s such a big shift!

I was obsessed with the S Club 7 tv show! The way I squealed when you started talking about S Club 7...
I’m an American a few years older than you I can confirm that we had the S Club TV show. I watched it everyday after school on Fox Family lol
I was born 8 years before you and yeah I remember a few of those bands, some didn't go international so I don’t know about thrm but some did obviously the spice girls but i remember that show about S Club 7 lmao

If you like that kind of pop, you should listen to the ATeens. They're a Scandinavian band and they are the sugariest of sugar pop
I loved ATeens and they turned me on to ABBA music and I’ve been in love ever since!
Love your channel❤
Eee I’ll have to give that a read god your taking me back to my fave childhood songs lol. Omg busted I loved them so much I would love going to my corner shop when the new magazines would come out and I’d buy any with busted on 😂

I am so glad you liked Jane Austen Investigates as I have been waiting to see what you thought of it before I bought it 😊
Hope you had a great time on the Isle of Wight, lived here all my life and was lovely see where you’d been
Go with your gut Meg!!
if Michael Cragg writes a spin-off book about the One Direction era…I will lose it
One Direction, The Wanted, Little Mix; JUST IMAGINE
JLS too !!
Love that this was an entry in this series. 😂
You've probably already seen it but if not you should definitely watch Becoming Jane, idk how accurate it is to Austen's actual life but its such a fun great movie, Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy are so good in it
I still have t read the first Finlay 😩
Atomic Kitten = best dance party
Borrowing reach for the stars from the library immediately! 🎉
I defo need to pick up that non-fiction. I was obsessed with all these groups just like you but I know nothing about them and the industry outside of their songs.
I really want to read the Jane Austen mystery now! I love a historical fiction mystery, especially based on a real person 💙
I've been wanting to read Miss Austen Investigates but I want to finish Emma first, Emma is too long though like Miss Jannifer Austen how did you wrote 8000 pages of fun?!?

You should do reading books a famous person recommended or said they were their favourites. Like Greta Gerwig's fave books, for example
I’m so sorry but this annoys me every time: Britpop isn’t just British Pop, it’s like specifically early 90s guitar bands like Blur, Oasis and Pulp.
LOVE how half the S Club Juniors reinvented themselves as the Saturdays!
I think Mara can beat your score!
