Hi, I have moderate scoliosis and many days back pain. Some days are worse than others. Are there ways to work around doing massage therapy to avoid getting body aches and especially back pain? Any advice is appreciated.

Great insights, thanks for sharing! Next time I’m in Ottawa I’ll pay a visit💆🏻‍♀️. I have 2 questions....
    1) how can I determine what are the best schools for RMTs?
    2) Any recommended literature/books that tells more of the history of massage therapy?

I recommend talking to both the schools that interest you and various RMTs for insights on what schools are best for you. Different education styles (and schools) work better for different people.
Sadly, I have no recommendations for books, but again. Talk to RMTs in your area. I'm sure they would have some great ideas and may even consider lending you a copy of their favourite books!

Checking with current RMT's is your best bet for schools as for history not sure about literature, The Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy was the first school in Canada and started by a group of nurses after the 1st world war up in Sutton Ontario, to help injured Veterans with chronic conditions, the history of Massage Therapy goes back to the dawn of man all over the world, Hippocrates wrote that: “The physician must be skilled in many things, and particularly friction [massage].”BCE 100-44: Roman emperor Julius Caesar was known to suffer from sudden bouts of weakness, convulsions and fainting. In his time this was chalked up to epilepsy - seen by the Romans as a sign of divine possession. Modern scholars now believe his symptoms are more likely attributable to a series of mini strokes.2 After such episodes occurred, Julius Caesar would receive massage treatments to support his recovery, CE c. 1510-1590: French military surgeon Ambroise Paré favoured the use of massage to enhance the recovery of orthopedic surgery patients. just to name a few :)

Hopefully u can answer this question but how much does a massage therapist make a year works at independent spas and chain spas like massage envy? I ask cuz I don’t want to have my business at this time in it and I’m wondering if I make enough money without getting a second job. Even general estimates would be helpful. I live in md so I know it varies.

I don't have this information, however, the Glassdoor website allows you to see average salaries by location. Here is what I found when looking at Massage Therapists in Baltimore: www.glassdoor.ca/Salaries/baltimore-massage-therapist-salary-SRCH_IL.0,9_IM63_KO10,27.htm
You may need to log in with an account (or Facebook/Google) to view more than one page of salary information on their site.
From my understanding, so long as there are enough clients to keep you busy all day, there probably is not a need for a second job. Building a client base is key, even if you are not the business owner.

generally in Ontario I would say the average full time Massage Therapist working in a clinic makes between $50-$70,000/year depending on the amount of clients they see
