Its a great job. I, unfortunately, no longer work there bc I have a disabled child that needs me home more (which I love more) but I was basically just a sales person with a notary there. It can seem like a lot at first but you will catch on to everything and do great! If you have the interview you prob have the job already. As long as you are kind and make sure you show up on time. :) @@deyyj1678

I don't think we give enough credit during this very strange time period we're living in to truck drivers, service people, postal workers, etc. There are countless things we would not be able to do if it weren't for their service. Bless them all in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ.

Ups entire business model is dealing with hundreds of Amazon drop off customers per day !! You have to store and pack them all for free and only get .70! Cents per item

Lemme shorten the entire video for ya bro.
You bought into anUPS store franchise because you wanted to be your own boss and the thought of having to throw down with the daily grind like the rest of us is far beneath you.
However you severely underestimated the company’s greed and god only knows why, you agreed to the ridiculous terms and figures (the company’s cut) that UPS corporate imposed onto its franchisees.
So now in addition to being an unnecessary middle man who’s survival depends on enough traffic coming through the front door but also selling unneeded (usually) packing supplies at an extreme markup. Often times employing deceptive tactics like scaring customers into thinking their packages are in danger of being mishandled because they used their own boxes instead of your overpriced cardboard and threatening them that the shipment won’t be insured unless they fork over the cash for the above mentioned.
SO now you’re struggling to hit that $350k/yr income for your store just so you can walk away with a measly $35k or so for your own pocket.
This is why I use the U.S. post office and find the UPS store to be a fucking lulfest of a business (if you can call it that).
No games, no bullshit at the post office. Just a simple “here’s my package”, receipt and g’day.

Yo hit the nail on the head. Been working at the UPS store for a little less than a month and am pretty disgusted how they upsell everything. At my store all package's dimensions are rounded up by TWO inches and we constantly have to lie to customers saying their boxes are unsafe (which most of them aren't) just to try and charge them for a box and the packaging. UPS is a greedy company and am unsure how long I will last there knowing I'm just taking advantage of people.

    • @ianm1864
      @ianm1864 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

yes, it is a small business designed to generate income which is why things are more expensive than an actual corporation. shipping through ups is simply a preference, the post office offers cheaper services but there’s a way larger chance for something to go wrong so it’s your call. Finally if items are actually packaged properly, I haven’t seen anybody in my store try to rip someone off, apart from the 4.95 printing service

@@DixieNormous06 hello. I just started at the ups store where I live, today was day 2. What should I expect? So far, I have yet to train on the computer and I have already processed some amazon returns yesterday. Today I started off by assembling the att modems or wifi boxes, which I totally missed a lot of steps. I am beginning to become frustrated because I keep missing steps.

    • @DixieNormous06
      @DixieNormous06 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@mariahsisneros7572 Things are a lot smoother at my store ever since new management took over and actually trained me properly. You should expect a lot of Amazon returns, packing, and printing jobs during the workday. We do quite a bit of packing at my store but ever since my new manager showed me how to do it quick and effectively it's actually quite easy. At first I hated it but as soon as my manager left for my current one things have been on the up.

@Jay Cole21 @Jay Cole21 I know how you feel. On my first day I was kind of thrown to the wolves and had to learn everything as I went along. The POS was the hardest for me to get used to because I had never used one before at my previous jobs so it took me about a month to get comfortable with it. It really does get easier though the longer you stick with it and you'll slowly get used to everything. I think a lot depends on the management as well.

  • @chenzenzo

All due respect, but if the first thing you do as an owner is sit down, you aren't doing your job correctly. Hire good management and focus on strong relationships with your team and who you're deal with.
I've worked for the UPS Store for over a year and a half.
I come to work with a solid gold attitude, a open heart and an open mind for whatever today brings. I can assure you that I will give my absolute best at all times, and try to make your experience in our store as enjoyable as possible.
While it is currently Christmas season, which is our busiest time of year, what gets my through every day is the interactions I have with people everyday. I can help people save money, time and send whatever they need to wherever they want in less than five minutes, but it's the interactions I have with people that give my work purpose.
As you may already know from reading previous reviews of our store, I go out of my way to make sure that everyone is recognized, understood and taken care of like I would my own best friend or grandmother.
It drives me crazy when I go somewhere to shop or ask questions about services and either nobody is available or all of the the available people are congregating together away from patrons and people who just want help.
I also work with some fine people and can actually say that my boss is my friend.
    Listen, retail is hard.
    Shipping and Receiving is hard.
Combine the two with customer service and
you got a job most people wouldn't want to do.
We have almost a thousand mailboxes and have to deal with each and every mailbox holder.
We deal with entitled jerks on a daily basis and quite often we deal with people who don't understand how much goes into our work and the business behind it:
I deal with every single shipping company in America or available to America and handle shipments on a regular basis. The basis being that I need to understand my job of understanding shipping labels and doing my absolute best to make sure every parcel and package is delivered or shipped to the correct person.
This job requires rapid understanding of multiple applications, addresses, geography, customer service, sub windows systems, detective work, interpersonal skills, sales, measurements and many other factors which may be experienced.
We deal with every shipping company under the sun and we all bust our butts to make sure that what needs to go some place gets there when it's supposed to be there.
    And you know what?
    That's that...
    That's the job...
    That's what it is....
    Thank you for your listening...
