- At the13th Annual Critics' Choice Awards, Daniel Day Lewis received the Best Actress Award for his performance in "There Will Be Blood". The 13th Critics' Choice Awards were given on 7 January 2008 to honor the finest achievements in 2007 filmmaking.

No one beats DDL...he is in a completly different league from any of today's actors...thank god for him!!!
Anyone else think he should have won for Bill the Butcher character; what a terrifying performance made even more amazing because he's such a gentle man?
Loosing to that dude from the pianist is pretty belivable since it was a superior film but yes, DDL as butcher was amazing.

I love the admiration that EVERYONE is showing this man. Each time there's a cutaway to the audience, you can see a glimmer of childlike wonder in each of their eyes. It's wonderful, the appreciation is just beautiful.

I was introduced to him about 20 years ago when a friend of mine recognised him after doing an audition for My Left Foot. He was exactly how you see him in interviews, obviously less loquacious as we made a fairly big group. Modest.
I would never, ever, approach him otherwise. I'm sure that's part of why he lived in Ireland for so long, we just don't do that.

You know if it weren't for the credit in the movies,I wouldn't know that was Daniel Day Lewis, I didn't know DDL before, I just watch the movie without knowing anything, and I thought it was ok and never thought about it much cause I thought the character maybe the actor's actual self you know, but then I saw the Oscar award for There will be blood, I was like, THAT WAS HIM? THE LEAN THIN BRITISH GUY??? My mind blew up!
It's just crazy. He becomes almost entirely unrecognizable, with a mustache and a hat being his only tools.

He lived in Wicklow for many many years, but has relocated to New York very recently with his family. Don't know if it's permanent.
The description on this video has a slight error. Lewis isn't an ""actress" as far as I'm able to tell so I doubt the award he won was labeled as such.

@RustyFishBones Ha, well said. He is half Irish. Father's the poet Cecil Day-Lewis, if you didn't know. DDL lives in Ireland, where nobody bothers him. I see him, his wife Rebecca Miller (in case you didn't know!) and his kids out and about.

Crazy to see don cheadle in this and how he’s been around for 2 decades but now coming into prominence just because mcu. Goes to show the mcu is low key destroying what it means to be a quality film. And the media maturing and coming to age with technology compared back to the day does not help with all the young kids not knowing greats. Or true great films other than mcu.
