Yuki handled his emotions better than naoki. He admits his fault and he tells his feelings straight to the person he loves. While naoki before , tend to just randomly agree to any girl's invitation on a date just because he's jealous of their senior who apparently head over heels to another girl.
I guess it comes down to the fact that he watched his brother unconsciously fall in love with Kotoko. More than anyone, he learned from his brother's mistakes in the past. Also, compare to Naoki who only have his pushy mom and persistent Kotoko, he had no one to help him figure out or process his feelings for kotoko. Meanwhile Yuki, aside from learning from his brother's experiences he also consults his brother for advice everytime he feels like he is at his wit's ends.
If Yuki's story is made into a drama, it will be fun too
That's because Yuki saw Naoki's love for Kotoko and had someone to ask whilst Naoki didn't. There's this girl who forced her feelings on him, stalked him, his mom encouraging him and him wanting to mind his own business. But she kept repeating I love you everyday like a spell and slowly he fell back for her. He didn't understand any of the emotions, feelings neither could he handle nor identify them. That's honestly pitiful but once he did, during that episode he confessed that he liked her. Sadly Kotoko jumped right at marriage and flustered him.
Not to forget that during that date Naoki literally confessed to Kotoko

Somehow, I wish someone would walk into the scenes where Kotoko and Naoki are being lovey dovey coz they were all initiated by Naoki. Haven't y'all noticed that the only time Kotoko initiated an intimate physical touch was when she kissed Naoki in the altar and hugged him from behind when he felt so down when he realized his dream and his father got sick in season one? Almost all the intimate physical touch was initiated by Naoki. Most people around them in the drama miss out on that that's why they think Kotoko was the one who loves Naoki more when in truth it was also Naoki who can't resist clinging to Kotoko.

Yuki grew up seeing naoki and kotoko's relationship, he also saw kotoko suffering bc of his brother. After he hurt the girl he likes, he had someone to aks for advice... that's how being the younger sibling works, you learn from the older's mistakes. I think that's why Yuki was able to handle his feelings better that Naoki.
Also, till' Naoki was married and Kinnosuke talked to him he didn't know he was jealous, he just felt uneasy and irritated.
Yuki grows watch his brother and sister. And he asked Naoki the night before he says sorry. And in these case, Yuki has experience from his brother, and sister in law.
Naoki has a soft spot for Konomi, i remember him teaching her when Kotoko fell asleep during their study🤣. I love that he care for his brother's girl/future sis in law

Can I just say to everyone who’s been like, “Yuki is the better brother! He apologized!” That Yuki also had the benefit of not only watching HIS older brother grow up and have issues and learn from them, but he had the added benefit of growing up with Kotoko as an older sister? That would have drastically changed his emotional trajectory, even if he had been heading in the same direction as Naoki. I’m not letting Naoki off the hook for everything he puts Kotoko through, but really, Yuki got a lot more guidance here than Naoki did.

This is my first time watching the series. :) I love it!
They're all redflags, Kotoko, Kinchan, the mom but Naoki and Kotko grew together and individually through all the obstacles they faced. At the end their relationship is healthy. We really need to stop using that word as a go to and let them grow.

You can say what you like about Naoki but he really pushes Kotoko forward. He always helps her to excel, even if he is harsh in the way he says it. He knows how to react to her blunders, how to help her realize that her weaknesses are also her strength.
While Kotoko supports him in everything he does. She admires him from all angles and supports him in any of his choices. Even then, she defended him at the risk of sounding rude.

He has many faults as a husband and so does Kotoko, but despite all that, they complement each other in a wonderful way.

Did you notice that similar to your description of naoki and kotoko being the moon and the sun respectively, they both have matching cups? Naoki's cup has a moon design and kotoko's cup has a sun design. I think it was first shown in the episode where naoki went to kobe and kotoko looked at his cup which was in his apartment, with a crescent on it, and it can be seen again in this episode at 37:06 :)

Irie Naoki is a genius in math, physics, chemistry, science, medical studies, language, etc. But Kotoko is a genius in, love, hugs, comfort, support, emotions and she is most genius in the bedroom... Match made in heaven.

@@vybl08 Do u have an spouse? That's enough motivation to at least practice cooking. I don't think 3 years is not enough to have a decent skill on that. Plus, it's an instinct to take care for your partner. One way to do that is through cooking.
She doesn't get as much character development as she should. Most of her skills are set stagnant.

Apparently they we're married in the era where they must build both of their careers. Irie is going to med school and Kotoko is preparing for nursing entrance exams. Basically, both are still in dating phase, a lot of aspects of them needs to be improved.
Kotoko and naoki deserve each other, only they can deal with each other’s extremities. If the weren’t together they probably would have still been the same people from season 1. Naoki would still be closed off cold hearted person and kotoko wouldn’t be pushing herself to do difficult tasks.

It's because Yuki has more EQ than Naoki if you haven't noticed. Despite both being smart, Naoki is the one people put pressure on and hold on a pedestal for being the first genius son. He's always been told how perfect he is, that he can do no wrong, he succeeds at everything he does even if he tries it for the first time. There was nothing in his life that challenge him, nothing he ever struggled with or excited him. He just repeated his dull repeating life .. until Kotoko came in his life, forced her obsessive love on him and frequently stalked him. For the first time he felt emotions and feelings but couldn't identify them, handle nor understand what he's experiencing. There's no logic behind love, neither a reason, you just love someone and it always took someone else for him (It's actually signs of autism) and once he did he confessed 2 but Kotoko being Kotoko missed her chance.

It's only because the drama spans so many years. Those high school days were like 10 years ago right now. In other words, Kin-chan loved Kotoko as a 17 year old teen, realised it was never going to happen, moved on, met someone else, and now he loves Chris as a 26 year old man. Or some similar age anyway. But for the viewers, it's just a few episodes ago
