FIXED (Memory Crash Error) How to play MWR on PC

- ( IDK IF YOU NEED IT BUT I HAVE MULTI DOWNLOADED ON THE SAME DRIVE )
1. Uninstall and reinstall MWR on Steam.
2. Once redownloaded right click on MWR in your steam library bringing up properties, go to local, then browse.
3. Select the Players2 file and DELETE it!!!!
4. Hit your windows key, or type in the windows search bar "msconfig" then hit enter
5. Once System Configuration is open, select the boot tab. Under boot options checkmark "Safe Boot" then select Network.
6. After that hit apply and restart your pc (this will restart it in safe boot mode) , from there on open steam, then MWR BUT HIT NO WHEN STARTING IN SAFE MODE!!
7. Open the game and go to options, then graphics/video and select the game to be in windowed mode.
8. From there you can close the game and re type in "msconfig" into the windows search bar
9. Go back to boot, then boot options. Unselect safe mode, hit apply and ok then restart your PC ( RESTARTING IT INTO NORMAL MODE) .
10. Open steam, then MWR and enjoy :)

Dude you're LEGENDARY. I was SO MAD when I bought this 30min. Ago for MW2 remaster mod. Unbelievable they never fixxed this . Literally unplayable for how many years unless ur a computer whiz. Which i definitely am not.

Not only did it not work, it totally crashed my pc and my windows wouldn’t let me back in. Don’t follow this nerds tutorial he genuinely has no clue what he’s talking about.

@@Ethanator What's crazy dude this is it actually did. I had to manually reset my pc out of safe mode by using command prompt. I ended up having to troubleshoot my pc instead of following price through the mist. Im all good now and it didnt work, but im over it now. I didnt like you for a few days but I got over it. Sometimes the cod 4 itch is mad dude and the fact this shit didnt work for me when i followed your every little move for 10 minutes just to see my pc keep crashing.
Why couldnt you just have rewritten the source code dude? Wild how you couldnt do that for a fix.

i've tried everything, every time i try to luanch the game it prompts me with the safe mode box and when i click no it just crashes and closes, don't even get to a loading screen or anything. im about 6 videos deep and nothing works :(

Hey Ethan my game shows the logo asks for safe mode and no matter what I press it just crashes
This is very strange, I'm sorry you're having this issue! I'm honestly not too sure what to do other than what I've done, have you done any other digging?! Also make sure it's a fresh install of MWR
i have the same issue too, currently trying to find a fix. The only solution i've found that worked for one person with the same issue was downloading someones else's "players2" folder from someone who's game works
After I restart my pc in safe mode， I don't know why I can not open steam in safe mode.
That’s quite strange. I would try looking further into that. It may be as simple as closing steam in task manager and then launch it
But my gpu is disabled in safe mode, i cant open the game
NVM it worked, it wasnt bec gpu is disabled, it just took way too long to load the game from the poster popup(around 5 min). Seems my drive is slow in safe mode
That's strange, I've never heard of a GPU not running in safe mode. Sorry dude :(

i’m downloading the game just to try this i’ve been dying to play this game for a year now and it’s just sitting in my library cuz i couldn’t ever open the game
my error must be different it just insta crashes it doesn’t allow me to open the game even in safe boot
had the same issue with infinite warfare but i had to get a players2 file to put into the game and it worked fine
That’s strange. I hope you find a fix my dude, it’s very annoying we have to go to these lengths just to play a game we paid for

Add -safe to the steam line under properties input area

@Ethanator I did. I even got to the point where MWR asks me to boot the game in safe mode. I hit no and the game still hit me with the memory error

Running windows 11 - when I go to click on MWR in Steam in safe mode - it ask to run the game in safe mode and it crashes.

I did it and restarted my computer… now there’s nothing when I turn my computer on and off, it’s on and my mouse has its RGB going but there’s nothing for the monitor, no video being displayed regardless
I’m really sorry to hear that, out of all the methods I know of this is the only one that worked. If you can’t login to your pc turn safe mode off and refund your game
Did everything step by step and it didn’t work for SP or MP. I’m just gonna refund it. Fuck Activision.

@@Ethanator I got it to work finally, had to upgrade to Win 11 then do the safe mode with networking and copy the config file and make it config_mp also.

No problem homie, look up on TH-cam how to boot windows in safe mode. It’s in your BIOS settings which you access before you boot into windows itself

When I restart in Safe Mode with networking enabled, there isn't an internet connection even though my Ethernet is enabled so I'm, unable to open Steam. Any fixes?
The only thing I could think of is to go to the hard drive and folder you have the game installed to and try to launch it through there rather than steam.
