Thank you very much. Wealth of information. Helped me date my knives.

You must first take out The scales before Wash the Victorinox and Never glue the new scales

Good stuff! Notice how the old scales are different than new ones? Not "skeletonized".

Yes! I expected it because I watched your video a month ago :)

I have an older Victorinox Explorer ( pre-1991, no utility hook). The main blade tip was broken, I ground it out to look normal. The corkscrew stands off from the body, and flexes a little bit. Is that damage from abuse? How can I fix that, if at all?

Hi @Nomadic Can you try customising the main large knife into a saw, and teach us how to cut the metal into teeth?

Don't throw away old scales! They can be easily brought back with sandpaper ( I use 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit). Finish off with polishing paste or even toothpaste.

Thanks, if I understand you correctly (I am using google translate.), you want to change the scales. If you chose to use glue you must be careful not to block the slots for toothpick, pen and tweezers.
      Cheers

Is it really necessary to use glue?

    • @Nomadics

No... most of the time. Sometimes if you put new scales on old knife there is hollow sound if you knock with your fingernail. Few drops of glue will fix it... :)

Please, tell me you didn't replaced those perfectly good original SOLID cellidor scales with the crappy and more fragile new model HOLLOW ones..... #facepalm!
And also, tell me you didn't just glue the new ones in, and with that insane amount of glue... #doublefacepalm!!

Why use glue? New scales should just snap on. I personally try to keep correct era scales when possible.
