- Director of Mentoris School of Management speaks about difference between MBA and PGBM or PGDM or any other Management Degree are almost the same. Some of the schools offer somethng different which makes them distinct.
I believe PGDM should get same recognition as MBA because PGDM offers much more to a student than MBA. It makes student coorporate ready and enhance their abilities to face the realistic challenges while MBA is a therortical approach.

There are a number of colleges providing top quality management education in India. Management education is going through a rapid change. One is a Masters degree and other is Diploma. Try telling this to an employer outside India that your PGDM is a Masters. Bcos you have graduated from IIM and it offers PGDM is a different matter. The more you educate an Indian the more we become confused. No wonder we are ruled by people who donot have any degrees. The education system with its UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NBA, DEB etc etc is a total chaos.
Not many are aware of PGDM. When we talk about management education in India, people are only aware of MBA. Very rightly explained. MBA and PGDM may be broadly the same; however there are certain differences between the two.
No one ask mba or pgdbm they check skill

For those who dont know this much....PGDM...is a Pg " diploma "..it has much more rigorous training like course structure and environment compared to MBA. MBA is more research and theory oriented. Unless the B schools with MBA conducts GDs, case study competetions, business exposure and all other Activities that are conducted like in PGDM, the MBA will be nothing but just a name sake degree.
