    Nice to see this getting uploaded so soon, interested in the outcome here, sounds really promising. I have a concern about those stickers on the lights as I'm pretty sure a sharp copper would pull you over for that affecting the light output, certainly couldn't see it being passed in an MoT. Admitedly my run-in about something similar was years ago.

      @@Riothamus Thanks, should be a good one...and I want it done fairly quickly! There's a couple of other BL cars running round with these stickers on, but I don't think they'll stay on mine forever.

    I've often wondered if the Jaguar AJ6/16 engine would fit or, perhaps better still, the AJ26/27 V8.

      @BiTurbo228 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question! I've got an SD1 and an AJ6. Done lots of measurements of the AJ6 engine as I've wedged it into a Triumph 2000. Not got any of the Rover bay yet. All measurements are approximate, but erring on the side of caution.
      AJ6 is 33.5" from gearbox face to pulley, and an extra inch to the front of the accessories. Sump is at the rear, and ends 15" from the gearbox face. It's 25" tall at the front, and 27" at the deep end of the sump (the middle of the sump has more clearance). It's 10.5" from centreline to the LH head (exhaust side), and 15" to ancillaries. 9.5" to the RH side of engine (intake side). Ancillaries don't change that, but you need to sneak the intake out that side, which was a bit tricky with the strut tower on my 2000.
      Critical bits will be total length as they're really long, and height above the steering rack.

      If there's any car it'll fit in though it's the SD1. The engine bay's cavernous!

      Cool !
      I owned a 2.5 PI many years ago.
      Unfortunately it rusted itself to bits years before I had the time, energy or money to get it fixed up.
      So your Triumph 2000 will now be a Triumph 3600 ?

      A Jag V12 in an SD1 would have been good.
      Imagine if BL had sold Rover 5300 EFi.
      Would have been epic against BMWs and Mercs, possible Jags too although the SD1's suspension was never as sophisticated as the Jag's.

    Cars were OK but wait till the camshaft siezes .and they do.very expensive and a pain in the arse to replace as you have to shim the tappets .

    • @peakclassiccars
      @peakclassiccars  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@roycampbell5605 Yeah, regular oil changes help so it doesnt block the non return valve in the head. I've done a couple of cam carrier/sized cam changes in the past and shimming can be a pain. Not too bad though. Luckily won't have that issue with the new engine.

      @Classic_and_Retro that will be interesting to see what you do as I have a 2.6 . Sometimes I think it's a shame when the 2.6 get taken out but at the same time they don't really cut the mustard especially when you've had a v8

    • @peakclassiccars
      @peakclassiccars  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @lesleyc5952 I love the 2.6. Always have...and the sound of a 6 cylinder is amazing. It just wasn't cutting it for the everyday daily running that I need from it. I want to do some long distance road trips in it so it needs to be future proofed.

    • @brenglover72
      @brenglover72 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The engine is not really the issue - it's the fifty year of age designed ancillaries it needs to run.

    2.6 a peace of crap. 3.5 much better engine.

    • @peakclassiccars
      @peakclassiccars  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @stevemull1673 Wasn't the 2.6 that let it down it was the wiring to the fuel pump. Same thing would have happened to a V8. Either way, it's not having a V8 or 2.6 back in it. :)
