  • John Fischer is moving the Oakland A's to Sacramento for a few season before moving them to Las Vegas. Guest host Sully, from Locked On MLB, lays out the reasons Fischer is seemingly making things up as he goes for the A's future. This move to Sacramento is a huge disservice to A's fans but it also points to the lack of a plan. How does this news affect your interest in the Athletics for this season? Also, the A's actually had a good weekend on the field.

Thank you for saying all the things that you said about what it's like to be in A's fan and what it's like to go to an A's game. You are spot on. I've been an A's fan since 1968 and have been to many A's games in my lifetime including the World Series in 1972 A's fans go to games to cheer on the A's and because of the love of baseball . In 2018 I went to see the Atlanta Braves play the Orioles at SunTrust Park in Atlanta and the spirit - the love of baseball and the love of the team reminded me so much of being at a game at the Oakland Coliseum! It was fun❤ the crowd was raucous and noisy and it just reminded me of being at the Coliseum . The Athletics won't last in Sacramento and they will definitely fizzle out in Las Vegas. Wherever they go they will always be the Oakland A's

What happened in Oakland is disgusting, but I am not talking about the A’s. Oakland in general is disgusting. Every business is leaving, why should the A’s be different? Fix the city maybe another team will relocate there? There is no money to build any team anything? Good thing is the city found millions for the Howard Terminal project so maybe they can hire more essential services workers and bring that city back to respectability.

Born in the East Bay and grew up in the North and guess what, now reside in Vegas! We’d like to have a mlb team here but personally I don’t want this team moving here. Been to many many A’s games but it’s always home games against the Giants, Yankees, Red Sox, and others where you’d have a large contingent of the opposing teams fans, and it will be no different in Vegas except the attendance will be larger. The MLBPA will make sure Sutter Health is up to par by next year, there’s no backing out on that. It would be nice to have the A’s team name stay in Oakland while Vegas gets a new team name. People couldn’t believe how fast Allegiant came together and I’m assuming the new ballpark will come to fruition by 2028. I bought tickets to the Sept 26 game and I’m looking forward to that game. The city of Oakland can now finally move on with redevelopment of the area.

They won the game, we got to meet Dallas Braden, and we walked the bases afterwards and we got our picture with Stomper. I was hooked onto the A's. We went to some more games and Fan Fest before the world changed, and I even bought merchandise.
The events the past couple of years have been terrible and it's shown that the MLB owners have treated generations of A's fans throughout Northern California as expendable. We will not cheer for the Giants or even the A's if they still move to Vegas. We'll be done with MLB.

It was mentioned that the funding for the Las Vegas stadium is gaining momentum from people who are against it. That isn't good for someone who wants to move a ball club to Vegas. Oh well, Karma at it's finest! Not to mention, A's owe Oakland somewhere around $97M for breaching the Howard Terminal deal, if I heard that right. Like I said about Karma.

How quickly people forget. There was a 5 year stretch where the fans came out, and it coincides with their 3 year World Series run. That stat alone is very telling.

I'm a Phillies fan and this stinks for MLB the A's need a new Stadium bad . MLB and the team don't have a plan MLB is focusing on the expansion fee for tye 2 teams coming in down the road. The way MLB has handle the whole ordeal is crazy the season just started and you tell the fan base your team is leaving i think this maybe should have came out mid season it's seems they are just trying to get the fans not to come to the Stadium like in Major league 2 but this isn't a movie . What is even worst the A's didn't tell fans the team was leaving for Sutter Field or what ever it's call people did . I wanted MLB to expand for the longest time now i hope MLB chokes on the the Expansion Fee's. And as sloppy as this whole move seems like it's to me i don't see them going to Vegas who don't want the team watch them get stuck in Sacramento for 5 to 7 years pushing back MLB expansion

Family held season tickets for 50 years. 30 in the same seats. Loved those seats! So many memories. Passed from my father-in-law to his son and I a few years ago. This year we did not renew. Refuse to give one cent to this owner. Most of our long-time section-mates stopped renewing prior to last year. "Two-by-four to the face" is the truth. I've been very sad this past week. The Oakland bashing is really disgusting, especially the blaming of the fans. How much loyalty is demanded when the season ticket package prices doubled a few years ago, perks were slashed, the Coliseum allowed to erode visibly, including long walks to food, etc, and and EVERY GOOD PLAYER traded away year after year. The A's were great at finding the young future stars of the league. But they were always traded. I'd like to see a fan base who would continue to fill the seats given the actual facts of the way this team was allowed to fall to minor league levels. We had our last moment at the end of last season. Including the amazing protest game last season which was our communal moment with all the fans.

I’ve taken the train from downtown Sacramento to the Coliseum. Oakland/East Bay fans can do the same.

The Plan: Now that the move is final, A's fans may start going to games knowing 2024 is the last time they'll see the A's play in Oakland. Play in Sac rent free for 3 or 4 years, only paying for needed upgrades to the ballpark. If Vegas works out, move there. If it doesn't, work with Vivek to build a new MLB ballpark in Sac and stay there.

What stadium? Where is it going to be built? What plan has been approved? How will it be paid for? And when will it be opened? And how can these all be done in time for the 2028 season seeing that it is basically vague plans and nothing specific.

The A's plan. Move to Las Vegas. Have a lot more people in the stands. Make more money.
Its time "Locked on" started to stop being a troll and started actually broadcasting the future of the A's, which is finally bright. The Coliseum sucks. You need a telescope to see the players.

    • @LockedOnMLB
      @LockedOnMLB หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I have been to many games in Oakland. I am aware of its problems. The move to Vegas isn't much of a plan right now. They have no approved stadium, the funding is questionable, the city support is marginal at best and markets like Vegas, which has a giant transplanted population, do not support new teams. See the attendance issues of Florida and issues in Arizona.
Not 100% sure where I acted like a Troll here but I am always open to suggestions. But it is a fact, not an opinion, that the leaving of Oakland has been dreadfully unprepared and the future of where they will play in the future is up in the air. Whether or not Vegas will support an MLB team, let alone a subpar one, is far from certain.
      Thanks for watching

@@LockedOnMLB So you listen to much to "the internet" and not actual facts. And like "the internet" does, it listens to who it wants and ignores those they don't.
Its amazing to me that people have zero understanding how large scale and complicated projects are made and financed. Its takes time. Even at times years. Like the site selection was. It took time and a nudge to get Ballys to agree. That nudge was Red Rock. Why not Red Rock? Because they are non -Union. Ballys is union. Therefore the Unions put pressure on the NV legislature IN FAVOR of the bill.
Outsiders say "Look at how unprepared!", In reality its an adaptable plan. Its got Ballys to accept the deal the A's wanted and said for a long time their prime location --- the corner of Tropicana and The Strip.
Same for funding for this. Many partners are deciding their piece right now.
Same for the move to Sacramento. It was leaked weeks ago Sacramento was the location. Then, not. Why? To try to get Oakland to come to the table. Did they? No. They had their chance and blew it Guess what-- VOILA' --the next day a deal in Sacramento is announced. I'm shocked, shocked that they did this "overnight".
What you see as DISORGANIZED is simply negotiating the best deal. But the bottom line is this. 1) the A's are moving to Las Vegas full stop. 2) they will draw more people there than Oakland (duh) 3) as this "small TV market" stuff, its the size of Milwaukee or Pittsburgh and they seem OK-- but those cities don't draw 43 Million visitors and have 60,000 hotel rooms a 10 minute walk away, 4) the stadium will be built because very powerful / very wealthy / very connected organizations (including Labor Unions) want it. And they always get what they want. So the A's will have a new future. Its time to report what the future is and stop worrying about the past you can do NOTHING to reverse. Once the 30-0 Vote from MLB happened, there was never a chance to go back. That's just fact.
The future is MLB in Sin City. At some point that will start to sink in. For the people of Las Vegas, they knew this 2 years ago. It was inevitable. Only the details needed to be sorted out.

I have been to an A’s game at the Oakland Coliseum. It’s an absolute dump. Bad food, bad seats, terrible sight lines, and the biggest reason nobody shows up. The fans, all 1500 of them, are great. Sorry they are losing the team. The new location, Sacramento for 3 or 4 years, will have more attendance than Oakland for the last 5 years.
