Your classic small ball team. With all these homers these days, the art of simply putting the ball in play and moving runners has gotten lost. That's what truly made baseball a strategic game, and the 2014-15 Royals were the kings of that
Diehard A's fan here, but you've gotta respect the Royals fight in this game. One of the best games I've ever seen. Comes close to game 20 of the A's streak, also against the Royals, who came back from down 11-0. This wild card game really helped catapult the Royals that postseason. Two tremendous, unforgettable years you guys got to see. What a team!
As a royals fan this year was so special, we we're so close to winning the world series this season, just think if we would have won this year we would have won back to back, oh well 2015 was still one of the best days of my life.
I wasn’t even a baseball fan but lived with a roommate in college who was a huge Royals fan. Watching this live, was legit one of the craziest sports games of my lifetime. I can’t even describe how good and intense this game was live.
I was there. When we were down I went to use the restroom and it was packed but you could hear a pin drop. And the ppl in front of us left. Then we came back and the atmosphere was electric. Best sporting event I've ever witnessed.
One of my enduring memories from the game was going to the restrooms after Ventura gave up that bomb and immediately hearing some dude scream "We got Yosted!" The rest feels like an incredible dream
Ten years later and this still puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. This team brought life back into this city, and they're doing it again ❤ Let's go out and own Baltimore!!!
@@ShadowOfTheBand Yeah we have baltimores number in postseasons lol. Baltimore has lost 10 straight postseason games, starting and ending with the Royals.
Man what a game you gotta give those 2014-2015 royals some credit they could make a come back. Anyone else see the guy who tied it in the 12th was Christian colon, same guy who hit the go ahead hit in the 12th in the 2015 World Series?
Still the greatest sporting event I’ve been to. The Thomas Robison mizzou win was pretty close, but nothing compares to that night. My hand still hurts from all the high fives I gave
Going into 2015 , you knew the Royals were going to be the Wolrd Series Champs. Having the three headed monster in HDH as closers, what a thing of beauty. The addition of Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist made them unstoppable. Watching Moose break back than the HR record, Hosmer finally being the pro he could be, Lorenzo Cain catching anything in the Outfield, Escobars speed stealing bases, Perez in his prime. Gosh how I miss watching good baseball and hope the Royals can one day again play competitive. But nothing will ever be as magical as that 2015 season
It was a meaningful game to my KC fan son who watched it until that fateful 8th inning. Then he disgustedly left the house for a walk to burn off his disappointment that his Royals blew it. When he finally came back during the 10th inning he could hardly believe what he had missed.
Those 2 years of Royals baseball was a beautiful thing. So many comeback wins, high energy. If you followed them every game, you saw something miraculous almost every night. This comeback did not surprise me.
One of the best 2 days in KC sports history. The day before, the Chiefs destroyed the Patriots and Arrowhead broke the record for crowd noise, and the next day, the Royals comeback from 4 runs down from a prime Jon Lester to win their first playoff game in 29 years
My personal favorite was game 6 of the 2011 world series. I remember sitting in my bed watching the game when I should be asleep. I'm not a big fan of Joe Buck but that night he made one of the best calls of the 21st century. David Freese, a guy that before and after was nothing more than a side character in a tv show, showed up huge. There was no way the Cardinals had a chance in this game. Texas seemed to have the momentum. The bottom of the 9th inning came up. Down 2 runs, Lance Berkman who was the Cardinals best hitter singled to right center to bring the game to 1 run. David Freese, up next delivers hit number 1 of his 2 most clutch hits. A triple to left field that scores Berkman easily. Game tied. Then came the 11th inning. The Cardinals had just escaped trouble in the top of that inning. David Freese up to bat, a 3-2 count, expecting fastball all the way hit a pretty well located fastball hard. He knew, Joe Buck knew it, everyone knew. He had clutch number 2, a walk off homerun to straight away center. I still remember those words emanating in my ears. -"We will see you..... Tomorrow night"
@Devon Reaws yep just treat her again. Such a crazy nailbiter of a game. I remember that night so well! Still gives goosebumps. We were running fools that night.
The Royals games back in the 80's were some of the best times of my life...$3.50 for right field bleachers... on a summer Saturday, .. the sun, the girls the dogs & dollar beers....so much fun and to see the Royals again go on and win the WS, the way they won, amazing time... again!
In honor of the Royals vs A's series today (6/20/24) i went back and watched this epic wildcard game from 10 years ago. Hard to believe its been that long, but 10 years later, Salvy is still with the Royals playing high quality ball and Bob Melvin since this tough loss has went to the playoffs several other times and still couldnt win a game
An ex Chiefs player--was it Danan Hughes?--was there, seats out near where Hosmer's triple hit high off the wall, said it was the most exciting sporting event he'd seen in person.
Epic, just as we all began to think, its over and was a pleasant surprise the Royals turned things around, oh boy did it turn round. This momentum change took them to the World Seriesnot just once but twice having the second be their winning triumph. #ForeverRoyal
How is it that two years of knowing exactly how this ends, it still makes me uncomfortable and elated to watch?! Pristine editing, Brad. An absolute Home Run!
I was in Kansas City the night before for the Pats and Chiefs game. I left that night and I remember being in the Toronto airport and seen it was 7-3 Oakland, I land in Saint John New Brunswick and seen they came back and was blown away! Awesome game
I was so happy with this win. Not a Royals fan but I remember the 1985 team, and having been as long as it had for The Royals, I would hate for it to be a one and done. Watching them win it all a year later was even better.
Brad Henson I still consider this a master piece you did with this and almost 5 years now you made this.My life has changed since this game because of you I can always relive it.Great work. Again I thank you with all my heart.
I was there and will forever believe this to be the greatest sporting event I will ever witness in my life! No idea how it took me two years to find this video... Very well done! Tears currently forming in my eyes as this brought back the roller coaster of emotions this game brought. Unbelievable!
Had to come back to this after seeing last nights Dodgers and Taylor's walk off against the Cardinals...2014 was unbelievable especially this wild card game which gave birth to keep.the line moving and what speed do Forever Royal!!
Every now and again I come back to this vid to remind myself where the magical two year run really began. What a game this was. The royals were truly a fantastic team in 14 and 15. We may never see a royals team that good again.

I wasn't there, but I was at Kauffman that year to catch a Royals game. The Stadium shimmered, the field was a lush green and it was a throwback uniform day. A perfect day, as the Royals won. Glad I caught this amazing team playing that year.
Really great game 👍👌 I'm so mad that they have gotten rid of all these great players and RIP 🙏 to the great VENTURA ALWAYS A TRUE FAN ROYALS AND THE OAKLAND A'S
I wasn't at this game, but I was at the next playoff game at the K, where KC swept the Angels in the 3rd game of the ALDS. The electricity was still off the charts. This team really was special, and I got to watch Moose, Hoz, Salvy, Dyson, Ventura, and all those guys come up through Northwest Arkansas AA and do alot of winning! This game was the day that the world got to see how special this team was.
How inspiring. After watching this, I've noticed how Akoi was smart enough to hit on a 3-1 pitch and also tried his best to pop it up to deep. Some hitters would just try to single there.
After the Game 7 heart breaker in the 14 World Series, especially after the Divisonal and ALCS sweeps, subconsciously I think the whole world knew KC was coming back to win it all in 15.
I'm a Red Sox fan and I knew Kansas City would come back to finish the job. Just like Captain America in Avengers: Endgame (after suffering so much loss in Infinity War).
Wow this is my first time revisiting this since it happened. After all the postseason disappointments, the game 5 losses, Giambi not sliding, jeters flip and catch in the stands, verlander shutting us down. This was the last straw. All the stolen bases, the horrible defensive plays, the incredibly lucky placement of fly balls and grounders for the royals and just the overall collective choke. We had traded cespedes who brought this team back to life a few years prior for Lester and Gomes who's fingerprints are all over this loss. Not to mention we had been the best team in baseball for the first 2/3 of the season and barely made the second wild card spot on the last day of the season. This was just so heartbreaking. After this game that whole team that I had fallen in love with (Donaldson, moss, reddick, etc.) all evaporated the years after which left us with three seasons of absolutely dismal baseball that I could barely watch knowing what could have, no, should have been. If you ever feel discouraged rooting for a certain team, don't, at least your not an a's fan. We can't even get out of a stadium like the coliseum and it's fucking 2017 man. Ugh just don't even get me started.
