    We cooked this dish today following the recipe from our recently aquired book. This is my wife's favourite dish to order from the take away. The problem we have now is she says she never wants the take away again and wants me to cook this instead, so thanks for that Chin and Choo. Lol. Joking aside though this blew my socks off, I can only begin to imagine what your high end cooking is like if this is you in fast food mode. Peace.

      can you please do sweet and sour chicken in the breadcrumbs i always had this as a little girl but later on alot of chinese takeaways stoped doing this and just had the sweet and sour chicken in balls/ batter i think it was never the same for me.

    Made this for the 2nd time this evening. Used a packet of Eastmans pre-cooked chicken from Tesco, and a pouch of Tilda Jasmine rice, which makes it possible on a busy evening (though I did deep fry my raw cashews). Came out absolutely superb again....I love your cookbook, everything always turns out incredibly good. Love you guys 😊

    Made this yesterday..... But I ran out of MSG 😧. It wasn't quite the same but still amazing. Only change I made was I added yellow peppers for another bit of sweetness. As always thank you Chin and Choo. Legends. 👌

    This is totally different to the c&p I grew up with, that just had chicken, pineapple, onions and I guess light and dark soy, maybe it's a regional thing. I am totally down for throwing bamboo shoots in anything though as I love them, cashews and water chestnuts not so much. Great video, thanks! :)

    Just cooked the chicken, pineapple & cashew nuts. Fanbloodytastic is all I can say. Substituted the water chestnuts for green pepper as I don’t like them. I now have a very happy wife and teenage daughter - thank you x

    I added crispy aromatic duck instead of chicken, it tasted like my wife’s favourite dish from our Chinese restaurant of choice which closed a few years ago. I took her there on our first date 12 years ago. I am well in her good books now!

    This looks really delicious! Thank you for sharing these wonderful recipes...I;ve been binge watching your channel since it popped up in my feed a few days ago and have just ordered some of the ingredients you recommend from an Asian supermarket here, can;t wait to try and cook some for myself!
    Please please please if you know how to make it, can you do a video for the type of gravy you get with chips in Chinese takeaways in the North of Scotland...the gravy is really thick, dark and smokey and tastes a little like BBQ. I used to love chips and gravy from the local takeaway when I was growing up but have never been able to get it since moving further and further away! It would be amazing to taste it again. (Have even tried to make it but haven;t managed to replicate it!)

    I think I think you'll find that Amazon probably include every new book with a UK ISBN automatically in their listings. Otherwise, how would 3rd party sellers select a product if they had a new or second hand copy to sell via Amazon?

      we sell direct, no 3rd party sellers and didn't know that second hand book sells was a thing

      But it's also about their business model of having 3rd party sellers. They can't know which books will sell only by this or that channel... only that the platform sells books from other sellers (from which they take a commission, of course.)

    Another amazing video. POssible silly question Would chicken bamboo shoots with water chestnut dish have the exact same ingredients just less the pineapple? Seen some people adding oyster sauce.

    Oh I'm sure I user to eat chicken and pineapple years ago.. might try this but leave out the bamboo shoots and water chestnuts as I'm not a lover of those. What could you sub it for? Also does it matter if I don't have msg? Have everything else

    I've never seen this on a takeaway menu. But my favourite dishes are Ma La Beef or Beef and Cashew nuts in hot pepper sauce, also Baked chicken in Portuguese sauce.

    I have to say this is easily one of the best channels on TH-cam for me even though the son got pissed off at me for saying he talked too much on the first video I saw this lol I didn't realise that lots of people had said the same thing, he was also pissed that I didn't remember his name lol I do that with everyone I'm not great at that... I will buy the book and some of the stuff they suggested

      yeah some people do but a brandy and whisky mix is better in our opinion, but what ever really, you don't even really need it

    I've been waiting for this since I discovered your channel! I've never had chicken and pineapple with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts in it though, it's usually a couple of manky bits of carrot if anything. This looks way better. 😄

    I have some leftover roast chicken from the weekend which needs using up so I think this one ticks all the boxes for me. I know the texture won't be the same but hey ho. I know what you mean about the tinned water chestnut being a powdery crunch. I am thinking of trying red radish as an alternative. Any thoughts on that? I do like to experiment especially if I don't have all the exact ingredients. 😋 Where have I heard "1/3rd of a teaspoon" before? 😂

      As promised I made this dish today using radish instead of water chestnuts and I can report that radish works really well in this dish, quite possibly better than the tinned water chestnuts. I started following the book version and, (you probably know this already), the 200ml of water is missing from the ingredients list but water is mentioned in the method. Great dish and one I ave never had before but will again. 😋

    Hiya both of you.
    Thank you for these recipes and video's, they are helping me immensely with my Chinese cooking.
    I know you cook yours on your kitchen cooker, mine is a gas cooker but not the best
    (😂 more of a candle than a cooker 😂 ).
    I have been trying to get hold of a high pressure wok cooker here in the UK, (I'm Manchester) and I have seen these on eBay (Cast Iron Propane Wok Burner LP Stove 100,000 BTU or similar) but the ones that I have seen on eBay are in America and Australia for around £119.00 but then £100.00 postage to UK.
    Do you know where I can get a good high pressure wok cooker from in the UK for around the same price? (I'll be using it outside by the way, not indoors).
    Any help or links would be very much appreciated.

      I've never used on of those before, but induction cookers are very good, in fact we use them in our restaurants. I'll look into the burner and may be review it :)

    Just watched and I'm thinking of giving it a go, (but there had to be a BUT) in this crazy times, myself and my partner are in self isolation and have been for 7 long, long weeks already where can I get the rice wine? I looked on your web site but couldn't see it there. As my partner has COPD we got a fortnightly food delivery slot from our Asda, so I'll need to take a look on their site though I'm not holding my breath, as they have been out of stock of what I call every day food items, which you only find out after you add said item to your basket, very annoying, they haven't had something I class as an every day snack food item in store for 6 weeks, and that's 6 bag pack of Walkers crisp no Ready Salted, no Roast Chicken, no Smoky Bacon, no Salt and Vinegar and no Cheese and onion, so what ar the chances of Rice Wine?? Also if I haven't got potato starch can you use white corn flour in place of it?
    Anyway another great video, has left me wanting to eat that chicken and pineapple, unfortunately that's not going to happen.☹☹ any advice you have on where to order on line Chinese ingredients that's if you don't have them would be much appreciated.
