Good Review. One thing I'd like to point out is that you mentioned 1ms input lag on monitors.. that's actually Response Time, which the amount of time it takes to change the color of a pixel per frame. It's easily confused with Input Lag. The Response Time on most projectors is actually near instant because it's just projecting light instead of displaying pixels like an LCD.
'X500i' having being teased for a long time now with all ur projector reviews , i recently used ur projector playlist & watched them all again for reference in helping me choose , i selected the benQ tk-850i , only had it for a couple weeks , its been pretty decent so far , just using it for 99.9% films in my theater . thanks

Under the right conditions and, this projector performs strongly. I trust BenQ brand so this is an awesome product. It has some limitations and can't be compared to LED monitors or TVs, but if you're into projection gaming then it's great. It's better color and brightness than the competition at similar price like you outline here. like 53

Would you recommend upgrading from BenQ TH690ST?
What Projector screen did you use for this and any recommendation? As it is a tweener between LT and UST, it's been really hard looking for a projector screen. I was looking at reviews for this and glad I found one. Great insight!

great review, if compared to the Xgimi horizon pro. what would you rate as the better projecter?
I'd say the BenQ as it a good around projector for both Movies and Gaming whereas the XGIMI has a large input lag, but size wise and sound quality the XGIMI was better.
I have the 585 and i have 90 picture, my screen is 110 inch. Ops. But the picture doesnt seem detailed as a 10 yr old 1080 p tv. Maybe im to close for a 1080 p image
What type of lights are you using behind the projector?
There's 1 govee neon light covering 2 sides and a govee lamp on the other remaining side

I'd say this one has more to offer the the android tv stick included and the short throw makes it perfect for sim racing
x500i is mostly same performance as x2-4k . I would said a little bit better . U can’t go wrong either x1-4k if u found it cheaper

This looks like the upgrade to the benq ht2150st, but I wonder if the x500i is brighter even though they both have 2200 ANSI lumens.
As someone who made this exact upgrade, I can confirm it is brighter, specially when the room is lighted. I assume LED vs Lamp also improves brightness quality when in lighted rooms?

In a dark room I found the white screen to be the best for this projector.
For a medium short throw projector preferably white one 1.2 gain .

Shame about the rainbow effect (just learned about as I was wondering why all the gaming projectors seem to have it). It's just unwatchable, are there any gaming projectors without this effect? I can seem to find one that's been reviewed on TH-cam.
The RBE actually isn't noticeable at all in most movies. But you definitely do notice it with bright white objects on dark backgrounds. It doesn't make me feel ill like some people but it is annoying scrolling through white text on dark backgrounds in Windows.
Rainbow effect is almost eliminated completely on this projector, it's 4LED, does not use a color wheel. Triple laser projectors have minimal effect as well. But If you need absolutely none, the Epson projectors with 3LCF or LCD projectors have no rainbow effect.
@@justinbeamon6624 That's not true because I'm using it right now and Rainbow Effect is present with dark backgrounds. That being said it does not bother me enough to be a deal breaker. Literally everything else about the projecter is great. But the fan is a bit loud and I use Eco Mode most of the time to keep the noise levels down.

The biggest issue with projectors is that they are a lot harder to setup compared to a TV. A TV, you just plop it somewhere, and it works perfectly. A projector, you need to plan out where you want to place it, how to mount it and how you are going to plug everything in
Actually if you don't care about getting maximum image quality, one of the best parts about projectors is you can literally have an image projected anywhere without needing an actual physical screen or complicated setup. You can't easily move around and plop down a big screen TV due to the sheer size and weight but you can easily move around a compact projector like this.
Yeah a TV is more practical in most cases where ambient light can wash out a projection. But everything has its pros and cons.
@@overnightdelivery and even so, it still needs a lot of planning. I just project it in my wall, but it took a lot of work. Remember you also have to put the projector somewhere. Too low, it can be blocked by objects. Too high, the screen curves on the roof.
Not to mention you also have a projector in your line of view if you don't plan on mounting it on the roof
@@teneesh3376 These are short throw projectors that only need 5 feet between the projector and the wall to create a 100 inch projection. Not like a long throw projector where the light can be blocked easily by objects in the way. Yes you may need a tripod or a small chair to set the projector on but that's not complicated for a quick setup.
If you're talking about a permanent location like mounting to a ceiling in a specific room, then YES that requires planning. But the point still remains that you can't simply move a big screen Television around easily if you want to.
@@overnightdelivery you also forgotten a few things. Projector speakers are terrible. So a sound system is needed to get a decent experience. Either a full blown one or a sound bar. Both can set you back around $100 on the Facebook marketplace. But also. Ultra short throws are an investment. Like $4000. Not as expensive as big TVs, but still more expensive than the mid range TVs.
So an ultra throw plus a sound system is a lot. But I agree, advantages and disadvantages. A short throw is fine and relatively cheap. I have a short throw, but that still sorta blocks my view. Not a lot. But I need to sit up real straight so that lower right corner isn't blocked
@@teneesh3376 So we're not really disagreeing. They both have advantages and disadvantages. Agreed that TVs are still more practical in most cases. Just not all. Any 150 inch TVs that may exist would be crazy expensive and heavy. So projection will still fit that nitch. Until some crazy tech comes up with paper thin TVs that are massive, weigh almost nothing and you can roll up and bring with you. 😁

Bruh, what is the point of releasing this nice hardware without 4k120!? Need 120hz for 40fps mode in ps5 games.
4k/120 hz is only possible on 3 chip projectors like the Epson LS12000 and JVC stuff. It's a limitation of the DLP chip.
