This Laser project seems pretty good for gaming & SDR content. The ANSI lumen seems a little low for HDR movies. Debating between this and the AWOL 3500pro, if only the AWOL supported 4k120hz. The kickstarter price/early price is great! “PJ92”
@Secondwind_TV Aurora pro only accepts 4k@120hz signal but still outputs at 4k60. If I'm not mistaken, this can also only do 120hz at 1080p. I don't think there's any UST at consumer level that can do 4k@120hz. Go for the Awol 3500 if u have the budget. Has real pure triple laser and more brightness. With the new firmware, Dolby Vision is now supported. I went with the ltv-3000 model (released just end of Sept) and don't regret it.
I would recommend to steer clear of any crowdfunding platforms and just pay the full price if the product ever fully releases. I’ve been burned on crowdfunding more than once.
'PJ92" Thanks for another great video! I'm making a final decision today between this, Casiris H6, and AWOL LTV-3000 Pro. Watching your vids to help me decide..... ahhhh!
@@mattyfidfulOLEDs will never compete with lack of glare and reflections on a projector. Deep deep blacks don't get covered up by a view of the kitchen or the backyard through sliding glass doors. PJ92 Great video! I would have loved to see the picture quality with it projected on a wall with the light off. ALR screens are pretty pricey and for us, getting both at the same time isn't really an option right now but we do want to upgrade our projector. surprisingly I cant find a video were someone projected on a wall though so thank you for that! definitely think this is what we will pick as our upgrade from our pj20. wish i knew about the kickstarter before it was too late though 😔
Already backed the Kickstarter. Can't wait to get mine in hands. Now, I know these projectors are best with ALR screens but a good quality 135 inch screen is more expensive than the projector itself. Do you have any experience projecting USTs on a wall with absolutely no ambient light. PJ92.
the problem is not the light level its the wall - they are NOT flat no matter how good your plasterer is. it needs a tensioned surface that is ultra flat or it looks horrific and ALR IS NECESSARY on a UST projector.
Pj92 great projector for the money. Obviously the screen is the key here too. Not pulled the trigger on a ust projector yet but for a cinema experience for the money this is a super deal if you exclude the additional cost of the screen
I'm going on 9 years now with using a projector as my main living room screen and I still don't want to ever go back. The lack of glare and reflections has been life changing and I still get really great contrast despite not owning this ultra short throw projector in the video. Daylight viewing is the same as on any OLED TV.....you will be closing the blinds to keep the glare away from your super deep OLED blacks...you DO NOT have to turn lights off on a projector setup though. I can leave the living room AND kitchen lights on without having them show up in my image like they do on an OLED in a dark scene and they do not wash out the image to the point of barely being able to see what you are watching. You can see it clear, vivid, and crisp. OLED will look better, but you had better turn off any and all lighting in the house or it will show up in the way of your dark scene in a game/movie/show.

hey that PJ will take any input up to 4K/120 but will only output 4k/60 or 1080/120. It's a limitation of the DLP chip. Given that the XBox isn't actually rendering at 4K/120, its not a big deal.

I'm torn between this and the AWOL VISION LTV-3000 Pro. I watched both your videos, and was wondering which one you'd recommend. I do game, and will be ordering the 120" motorized screen. The nexigo with the screen is about $5000-5200. But the AWOL has a bundle that has both for $4k. Is the nexigo worth the price difference especially with it technically having less lumens.
Both are really good, and it's definitely a tough choice, but I'd be tempted by the Nexigo because of the hdmi 2.1 support for my gaming consoles. The lumens difference didn't make such a major difference.
I love triple lasers for extra colour gammut but black floor is still the downfall of usts. They need to start prioritizing that. Maybe not jvc levels but at least 5050ub levels would be acceptable
except all these projectors can do 150" so size it's a non factor most of the time. Sure a 5050ub may get a bit dim at that size, but there's other long throws for those bigger sizes. Real films didn't have great blacks, but they were nowhere near as crappy as some of these projectors. They are not even dark grey, they are mid gray at best and that's just unacceptable when more and more content has low APL scenes. It's also worth nothing that we went out of our way to get great blacks, even way back then on those projectors, using silver screens was common, so even back then people were complaining about it. I honestly think the reason people accept these is just they never tried something better. Otherwise these wouldn't sell. I can't see someone looking at both and saying, hey I want that one! the one that looks washed out! Like even if you want an UST, why not wait until they figure it out and in the meanwhile use a standard projector? You save money, you get 4 times the quality for the same price point.
