UPDATE 9/14/19: I moved the GPS antenna as recommended in the comments, it’s now nestled above the center air vent. The GPS works great now!

Just a thought... you can purchase 0bd2 splitter so you can utilize obd2 features of your new unit while retaining whatever uses you prefer.
The direct connection makes using apps like "torque" really nice.
Minute 6:32 saved my life. Lol I spent days looking for this cord and finally found it "ONLY" after looking at your video.

The gap between the air vent and the head unit looked better than the gap between the new air vent and dashboard, which was more obvious to me

That screen is really good for youtube when you have friends with you and don't wanna use their phones but use the speakers of the car and the screen in the car.
In the settings you can change the colors of the buttons to match the color of the green lights.

I just posted a video with my solution for that. It’s not perfect but it is a lot better for the time being. The whole car is a work in progress lol

Ive worked in a toyota dealership as a tech for over 10 years, so 100% i was required to do a better job than what was shown in this video, otherwise i would have gotten fired before long. I always try to better myself by learning and this being a "tutorial" should provide such material however not only did it, not provide me with any useful information but misleads public into thinking this is how a head unit should be changed. If he wanted to disregard public opinion he could always turn off the comment section.

Lexus fucked us with these dashes, they crumble in the heat. Lexus was offering to replace them for free for awhile, not sure if they still are doing that. Google "lexus sticky dash"
I had an 04 is300 sport design and lexus did not replace the sticky dash. Years later my parents get an 08 is250 from a car auction. They take it to get an oil change and tell me that the dealership changed out the whole dash for free. I didn't believe them and so j called Lexus. They confirmed that there is a recall and will replace for free.

@xXwatermelon You have to buy a USB CarPlay adapter if you want CarPlay or Android Auto. I’ll be putting up a video pretty soon with how I set mine up. :)

Change the launcher. You will be glad you did. I use FCC Launcher.

My 2010 vent doesn’t sit flush like urs do u have any idea why not? Do i need the 09? Are they different
The boot up time is to long should be instant for a car it's got some cool features though

I think You're having gps issues because of gps antena placement (it's surrounded with metal). Try to put it where air vents are or even on top of dashboard. Hope it'll help.
That’s a good point, I’ve heard people put it near the air vent but I didn’t realize why. I‘ll give that a shot. Thanks!
UPDATE: Just moved the antenna, it’s now above the air vents but still under the dashboard. GPS works fantastic now. 👍🏼 Thanks again for the tip!

How do you get the AC controls on screen, mine is NOT coming up
Just got the same unit. Looks great. One question. Your OEM
unit was fully operational before your swap? The AC controls are not responding on mine. I think it’s because my OEM unit had stopped working. Just curious if you had any similar issues.
Led mod time now, and some gps systems need 3 points of connection (the receiver needs to see 3 satellites), it will be a little difficult but either insert the receiver into the defrost (make a square cutout) or into the dashboard.
Extra information, gps doesn’t need continuous connections to operate. The more stable of connections there is, the more real time it will be, versus more jumpy.
I bought one for my car and as I was putting together my headunit there is no plugin for wifi but only for the GPS

Thanks for the video. I got several questions for you.
1.Does this use the OEM mic for phone calls? Does it seem to sound the same to the person on the other side of the phone call?
2. Can you get into the back up camera screen while it's in that 30 second boot up, when you initially start the car. Or, do you have to wait for the entire boot process?
3. You figured out the F° vs C° thing yet?
4. Play store working yet?
5. How about a video using the Android Auto with this unit... From staying there car to getting there app going, and usage. That would be helpful.

1. Unfortunately my car did not have a mic built-in so I cannot day whether this would use the OEM mic. It does have a 3.5mm headphone mic input, so I installed my own 3rd party mic. If the original mic has the same 3.5mm jack then it should work the same. :)
2. I will need to get back with you on this one, I have not installed my backup camera yet.

4. Not yet. To be honest, I’ve been a little lazy in this area. I found I could download the .apk files straight from chrome and download pretty much any app without the play store.
5. That’s a great idea! I’m in the process of testing a USB dongle for that right now, I’ll be sure to incorporate that into the video. :)
I have a 2009 is250. The screen went completely black. No lighting whatsoever. The radio still works , I can change the stations & and the volume on the steering wheel . The ac is still on. I press buttons on the sides of the screen and they are functional. Will this retro fix my problem with the screen?

I have the 2006 is350 and I was wondering if the backup camera wouldn't work anymore if I changed it to the android one.
heard that on the 2006-2007 models the backup camera and ac buttons do not work with this head unit.

Nice work! thanks for all the descriptions. I was looking into getting one of these for my 2012 ISF. I have the Mark Levinson speakers system in it and not too sure if yours had it as well. I wonder if there will be any issues as it plays through a factory amplifier. Also, can you do me a favour and time how long it takes from when you start up the car and put it into reverse right away, do you have to wait 20 seconds for the rear view camera to show an image on the screen. This will be deal breaker for me if you do. Thanks!
I don’t have the mark Levinson system, but even still the new head unit did downgrade my sound quality a bit. I do believe there is a fix, I just haven’t found it yet. And I don’t have a backup camera installed yet, but I will answer that question when I post that video so stay tuned!
Guys im having trouble wiring it to my mark levinson system, volume is extremely low, do i need an optic fiber amplifier adapter??
I have cheap chinese camera hooked to the screen and it works after few seconds after starting car in reverse while the head unit complete starting takes 25-30 seconds

Hey man, do you know which model you purchased? There are a lot of different processors and ram options for this model. I’m assuming most people get the 6 core 2gb ram model but the 8 core and 4gb is only $60 more. I’m wondering if it’ll make that start up time much faster
It was let you go through options much faster , the loading for switching from “audio” to “settings” menu ,or starting gps to somewhere will be more unnoticeable that it’s even processing the higher the numbers are. Plz correct me anyone if I’m wrong thank you.

I have an indentical looking unit but noticed mine is different from yours from your rear inputs. On my 2010 IS250 I do not have a radio antenna. My deck also just has an empty hole where yours has a mic input. Is this where you connected an external mic to? Also have you installed a backup camera to this unit yet? I would like to know how you would run the wires from trunk to dash.

The dashboard gets sticky and damaged when cleaning it with chemicals and polishes , just use a wet towel and clean dashes .
I do live in Canada and winters can be between -30 to -40 degrees, do you think this will hold up in that weather?
