    The snake eating its tail is called the ouroboros. It dates back to ancient Egypt and represents eternity or the cycle of life. Hopefully, a reincarnation of this notebook may earn a better review next time. Thanks for the video, Blake.

      Thanks for the info. I did not know that. I think with some small tweaks it could be a lot better. I hope I wasn't too hard on this notebook but for $48 I do feel that all the small details should be right.

    Very interesting !! I haven’t used an onion skin paper since the early 1960’s.
    I would buy this just for kicks if it wasn’t so expensive.

    I love onion skin paper. I don't have this hard cover journal, but I have Remy Road's soft cover notebooks. Fewer pages and more affordable. Love them! Someday I'll get this journal, too.

      Hi Deb, thank you for the comment. I will have to give one of the softcover versions a try.

  • @MarshaLove0723

    I did not buy this notebook because of the cost, but I love how inks look on onion skin and tracing paper.
    I would never try to write on the back side of this kind of paper. Even with TR paper, I only write on one side.
    I like to laminate my liner sheets if they are susceptible to catching bleed through.
    I know the hard cover is to protect the super thin paper, but I'd prefer a softcover version to make the overall notebook thinner.

    • @BlakesBroadcast
      @BlakesBroadcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment Marsha. I do really like the paper. It is fun to write on but the cost definitely makes this notebook a tough sell especially when you only write on one side.
      Laminating the guide sheet is a good idea. Does it change the feel of writing on the paper?

    • @MarshaLove0723
      @MarshaLove0723 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlakesBroadcast I don't usually do the full heat style laminate on guide sheets. I use the self-laminating sheets (which are like giant pieces of tape 😏) so the final product is much thinner. I don't notice a difference in writing feel, but YMMV.

    I see, this notebook is more for fun I guess 😂 We have in Germany "Butterbrotpapier" (basically white thin paper/paper bags as a "lunch box" ☺️) that we used as kids for craft things like advent calendar because you can draw pretty good on them. It was also very "loud" and reminded me immediately when you talked about the noise it makes. It is a lot cheaper though 😅😇

    • @BlakesBroadcast
      @BlakesBroadcast  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha, I think I know the bags you are talking about. This paper does look and sound like them but I would be amazed if you could write on them though.

      @@BlakesBroadcast actually, I tried it on the white paperbag (not with my fountain pen though 😉) and with normal Fineliner from FC it‘s a sharp crisp line.

    Great video! Blake what's your favourite notebook recommendation for someone who simply writes down their To-Dos as well as journals in the same notebook?

    • @BlakesBroadcast
      @BlakesBroadcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on your budget and the features you like. If you want a notebook with amazing fountain pen friendly paper I of course love The Paper Mind Mitsubishi Bank Paper notebook. A cheaper alternative, I like Midori MD notebooks.

    • @BlakesBroadcast
      @BlakesBroadcast  ปีที่แล้ว

      They list it as having 320 pages but if you are only supposed to write on one side it is actually 160 pages. That makes it very expensive for $54.

  • @jamesaritchie1
    @jamesaritchie1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Using onion skin paper for just about anything seems silly to me. This is doubly true for a journal, and triply true when it costs this much. This is a very expensive journal, and would be even if you could use both sides of the sheet. Being able to use only one side makes it twice as expensive. Just really, really silly. I hope this is just a fad because it's a complete waste of money. I can buy a journal with very high quality paper for much less than this thing, and I can use both sides of the sheep which makes it half again as cheap.
    And not onlt can't you use both sides of the sheet, that kind of transparency makes it look ridiculous. No, just NO!

    • @BlakesBroadcast
      @BlakesBroadcast  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is definitely more of a fad more than anything. That said people love Tomoe River and that is very transparent.
