I appreciate the price breakdown. I did the math on changing from my Nespresso vertuo pods to a system like this and that would save me $693 with my usage.
Hi JD, Thanks for the comment. So true! A little more upfront gets you much better coffee, far lower cost per cup, all the convenience and far more drink options! Fresh ground is soooooo much better than pre-ground in every way! Marc
About one week into this machine. Still dialing in our favs. So far 👍👍. I need to live with a new product for some time before weighing in on overall satisfaction. The single criticism I have to date is that water drawer has to be forcefully removed. Not smooth or easy. I’ve seen the same comment elsewhere. Maybe with time or little troubleshooting it will work itself out?! Side note: my experience with WLL very positive. Just maybe ease up on email frequency😎.
Hi JB, Thanks for sharing your thoughts - and the side note! The water drawer will remove easier with some use. One thing you can do is apply a little of the brew group lubricant (it's food safe) to the water outlet connection at the back of the reservoir. Use a very fine film of lubricant. That should make removal a little easier. Marc

Hi Jk, Thanks for the comment. I posted this video yesterday on The Gaggia Magenta Prestige. It has a very similar interface to the Cadorna Prestige. So my wife and I like different kinds of coffee (dark for me / light for her). Does this or any other super-automatic give the ability to switch between beans? Does the doser on this or any others allow for 2 [pre-ground] shots to be added?
Hi Rick, Thanks for the question. It's a rather significant price jump up to a Jura GIGA 6 which has 2 bean hoppers for easy bean switching. It's a very high-end machine and can even mix grounds from both grinders in 25% increments in the same brew cycle. The GIGA 6 and some other Jura machines can take up to ~16grams of pre-ground coffee in the bypass doser. Max dose in the bypass of the Cadorna is ~11.5g. Hope that helps! Marc
Having a tough time with the decision between the DeLonghi Eletta, Gaggia Cadorna Prestige and the Jura E8 or S8. I have watched all of your videos but having trouble breaking down the small differences. Any advice?
Hi Maggie, Thanks for the question. IMO the Cadorna Prestige is the best value in the group. Has features like milk prep order flipping based on drink type and color screen usually reserved for more expensive Jura machines. Beyond that, you get a wider selection of drinks plus the 4 user profiles which can store variations of each drink. I prefer the milk carafe system of the Prestige to the pickup tube system of the Jura machines and the water reservoir and used coffee drawer which remove from the front of the machine. I'm a fan of the Americanos on the Prestige - those are not available on the other machines unless made manually by adding hot water. Also like the quick customizing of any drink on the prestige where you are presented with all drink parameters before the drink is made. Want to make it a little stronger or taller just one time? That's easy on the Prestige. Hope that helps! Marc
Hi Mike, Here's a link to a side by side spec comparison of the machines: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/compare?products=NDU2ODM5ODAzNzA0Niw2NjEzMzQ2NTgyNTgy In general, you will get more features for a lower price in Gaggia machines. I do like both machines and IMO the Jura has subjectively nicer styling. But, it has lower capacities. If your doing a couple of drinks a day or only one person using it then the ENA 8 has you covered. For multiple users the Cadorna is a better option - especially if you want to make two coffee drinks simultaneously. Milk drinks on the Jura ENA 8 are a bit more of a process as that machine uses a pickup tube for milk vs. the detachable carafe of the Cadorna Prestige. Hope that helps! Marc

But i dont think this comment is true. I returned the machine to the seller. Waiting for the sellers reply. Thank you.
Hi S, Thanks for the question. I am sure about the temps. They were measured using a thermocouple sensor placed directly in the flow from the spouts. Understand variables like starting milk temp, ambient temp, how temp was measured and other factors will impact results. For liquid volumes, they are an estimation. Amount of coffee dosed, coffee type and how much crema is produced, etc impact results. If results are consistently high/low one can adjust volume setting to be closer to what they want. Marc
Yes there is! Check out the Cadorna Barista Plus, which features a commercial-style manual frothing wand: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-plus
Thanks for the video! I would love to see a comparison video or at least hear your feelings on the difference between this unit and the Biblia? Today I ordered the Gaggia Classic pro from you with a bunch of accessories. But I think there's also a place for an automatic unit in our lives. We've grown board of chemex and other manual brew methods. I suppose the bablia would be cool to get an extra wand to compensate the classics single boilers. But I'm open to both. Thank you!!
Hi Michael, The Cadorna is more updated machine than the Babila. It has a nice color UI and you can save up to 4 versions of each drink in the user profiles. Unlike the Babila it can flip milk/espresso order prep depending on the drink being made. That makes a difference in drinks like the flat white. It also has the Americano which the Babila does not. The Babila has a little more control of espresso with more grind settings and flow control on the spouts which can slow down or speed up espresso/coffee brewing. As you mentioned it does have the manual steam wand. I always liked the deeper espresso control on the Babila but I've been using the Cadorna Prestige as the daily driver in the studio since last fall and given the choice I'd stick with it over the Babila. Marc
Hi Amanda, For your husband's Americanos it's hard to beat the value of the Cadorna Prestige. No other machine anywhere near the price that makes one step Americanos - Have to go to Jura machines at nearly double the price for the same functionality. The Cadorna is my daily driver in the studio here and I like the Americanos. For tea latte all super-automatic machines can do hot water. Most all will make a plain milk froth as well in a programmable amount. The carafe of the Cadorna Prestige makes that hassle free. Hope that helps! Marc
Mark, what would be your preference between the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige vs Babila? Like the double boiler on the Babila, but the easier adjustments on the Cadorna Prestige. The wand on the Babila would be nice for my daughter, but not a necessity. Thanks!
Hi Brian, Thanks for the question. The Babila was my daily driver in the studio a couple of years ago. I've been using the Cadorna Prestige daily since last fall. Given the choice I'd go with the Cadorna. I like do like the easier adjustment. Seeing all drink parameters before brewing and having the ability to adjust and save to a user profile is brilliant IMO. I like the slide out access to the water reservoir. Cadorna has a lot more drink options including the one touch Americano and true double shot flat white. Espresso purists may prefer the Babila which has flow control on the spouts and more grind settings. With the manual wand one can froth to latte art quality if desired. Hope that helps! Marc
In your tests how precise was the milk quantity coming out of the carafe? I've seen that my new Cadorna Prestige only dispenses around 2/3 of what it says on the screen. If I program it to dispense 300ml of milk, only around 200ml or less come out. Is this normal?
Hello. Great info! My wife has asked for a machine that can make her morning Latte with the touch of a button. She likes ordering the skinny vanilla Latte at Starbucks. For a Latte, what machine do you recommend? I am a bit confused with Latte Macchiato and Latte. I am considering the Anima Prestige and this Cadorna Prestige, but neither seem to make a Latte...vs a Latte Macchiato. Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks!
Hi CG, Thanks for the question. These machines are made in Italy where latte translates to "milk". That's why you rarely see "latte" on a machine. If you do all you'll get is frothed milk. What we call a latte in US is called a caffe latte in Italy. It does get confusing! But it's simple - make the latte macchiato, stir with a spoon and it becomes a latte. Key to the basic latte is a 1:5 espresso to milk ratio. But you can program to personal preference. The Cadorna is a big step up in capabilities from the Anima. It can flip milk prep depending on the drink being made. That feature makes a huge difference! The Anima always does milk froth first. The flat white, caffe au lait and cortado on the Cadorna are excellent. And, if you do straight coffee the Americano is a step above drip! Hope that helps, Marc
Hi A, Thanks for the comment and question. The Cadorna prestige produces a single type of froth. It's not as fine as what one can do with a manual steam wand but very nice and requires no skill. The big difference with the machine is the ability to flip milk/espresso prep order based on the drink being made. Makes a big difference doing espresso first then milk for drinks like thew flat white etc. Be aware here in the US the Cadorna is available in the Barista Plus model which has a manual frothing wand which can do latte art quality froth: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-plus Marc
Hi Marc, probably a redundant question but what would you suggest for a bean to cup or semi automatic machine with max budget around $2500 (to include the oracle touch in the mix) where the preferred drink is mainly a cafe latte 12 and 16oz. So far Gaggia, Jura, Saeco are the ones that have surfaced on top along with Oracle touch but I still need to make a decision and pull the trigger. I would prefer an easy cleaning cycle and profiles.
Gaggia Caderna Prestige vs Saeco Xelsis, both are very similar and under the Phillips brand. Marc in your opinion, which one is a better buy for silky smooth milk (not just foam) frothing for lattes, longevity and reliability. Looking for a bean to cup machine for my wife to be comfortable and have fun to use. Should the Breville Oracle One touch also be a consideration, though more expensive?
Hi A, thanks for the question. The Cadorna and Xelsis are similar. While both under the Phillips umbrella Gaggia operates independently and all Gaggia machines are manufactured in Italy. Saceo machines are not. That does not make one better than the other - just something to be aware of. Take good care of one-touch machines like the Cadorna and one should expect many years of reliable service. We get regular reports of >15,000 brew cycles on Gaggia machines. Good care consists of providing the machine with good water that's not too rich in minerals, descaling the machine when it alerts to do so and cleaning the brew unit as needed. The Gaggia and Saeco produce a similar froth quality. It's relatively smooth and not super airy/coarse. I personally prefer the milk drinks like the flat white on the Cadorna Prestige which froths the milk over the espresso last - very nice texture! You could consider the Breville. It's a more manual machine with grind into portafilter process. With the manual steam wand on the Breville you can texture the milk however you like and go right up to super fine latte art quality milk with some practice/skill required to get there. If you're up for manual steaming with the grinding/espresso more automated (and ready to go much faster than the Breville) you might consider the Gaggia Cadorna Barista Plus. It has a manual steaming wand so the same texture as you like as the Breville and much lower cost: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-plus More info and videos at that link. Hope that helps! Marc
Marc, hi. I love what you do at WLL. Been a fan for years. I just received this machine from WLL based on this video. It is amazing. One question. How do I make a mocha latte? When and where do I add the chocolate syrup? Thanks.
Hi Johno, Thanks for the kind comment and your patronage. My second Americano is brewing on the Cadorna as I write this. The machine is still the daily driver for 3 of us in the studio! You can add the chocolate before or after depending on preference. For a nice look/presentation you might try drizzling onto sides of a clear glass prior to making the drink. Give a stir after drink is made. Some chocolate will mix in and some will stay on walls of glass. Marc
Hey Marc, I just bought the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige (cannot wait for it to get here this week), but I'm in need of some proper glassware to enjoy the milk based drinks. I've got some regular coffee mugs but that's about it. I was browsing the Whole Latte Love site for glassware, but there is so much out there to choose from. What would you recommend for milk based drinks, and maybe sperate shot glasses for espresso. Preferably something not too expensive (since I just dropped a very pretty penny on the Prestige LOL). Lastly, what does the silver tray do in front of the bean hopper on the prestige? Is it a cup tray, and if so how hot does it get? Thanks for all the amazing videos and great explanations. I'm really glad I've found y'alls site!
Hi Fox, Congrats on the new machine - I'm sure you will enjoy! Recently got a friend to dump his Keurig in favor of an automatic and he said: "so this is what real coffee tastes like!" @@Wholelattelovepage thanks for the response Marc! My spouse and myself have a Keurig as well. Hey Marc I think I have watched everyone of your videos and have been a lot of help and great info but I’m still struggling for some reason. I’m coming from a built in Bosch and trying to decide between the Jura s8 or Gaggia cadorna prestige. Price has no effect. What I’m struggling with is each machine lacks something I’m interested in. The Jura doesn’t do americanos the Gaggia does. The Gaggia doesn’t do the two styles of milk which I believe would be important to milk based drinks. I primarily use travel mugs Gaggia handles taller mugs better I think. I hear the warranty and customer service are better with Jura but you pay for it being that the Jura is more expensive. Currently I drink just coffee from home but definitely would be trying and drinking on a regular basis all the options ( rather than going to star bucks ). I had a local store that sold the Jura and fell in love with the drinks it produced. Made it easier to go shopping with the wife cause I would always stop in to have a drink and drool over the machine that I couldn’t afford at the time. So I know I would be happy with the quality but your videos have sparked my interest in Gaggia and you seem to be partial to them. With all of that said which do you think is a better purchase and why ? what are some of the main differences that one machine does over the other and Vice versa ? And have you done a comparison video of the two and if not that would be a great video lol. Oh and my understanding is that the Jura has a larger dose capability than the Gaggia 15 g vs 10g I think or something like that not even sure I know what or how that effects the coffee or what would be missing Lengthy o know but really struggling and these things are not cheap wish I could get them side by side
Hi Doug, Well, thanks for watching all the videos. Tough decisions right? I'm still using the Cadorna Prestige as my daily driver in the studio. If you know me from the videos I'm more of a espresso/coffee drinker and do occasional milk drinks - mostly flat whites. For regular coffee I've switched to Americanos here in the studio (2 a day) from the Cadorna. But, if money is no object and you know you love the drinks from the Jura then that might be the way to go. But if you'll be doing mostly coffee then I'd strongly consider the Cadorna. Another possibility is the Cadorna Barista Plus: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-plus Excellent price compared to the Prestige and crazy good compared to the Jura. It has all the same coffee/espresso functions as the Cadorna Prestige but milk frothing is manual. Now if you're all about convenient milk drinks manual frothing might not be your thing. But, going manual you can have whatever froth type/quality you want. Just takes a little skill/practice to get there but yoou can go right up to a superfine microfoam for latte art! Would wife wife like drinks with hearts on top? I currently have a Jura at home. I use it for long coffee and my college age daughter uses it for coffee and the occasional latte. It's a great little machine an ENA Micro 90. But if I had a choice I'd have the Cadorna at home for the Americanos and multiple users with their own drink setting. My wife does long coffee on it as well. I've made thousands of coffees on the Jura with no problem. Something like 6-8/day for over 2 years. One thing tht makes me a little nervous is the non-removable brew unit in the Jura. Brew unit is removable in Gaggia machines. But I've never had a problem with the Jura Best Value: Cadorna Barista Plus - but you've got to be willing to froth manually 2nd Best Value: Cadorna Prestige - just one type of froth but flipping the milk/espresso prep order based on type of drink makes a big difference. Features like Americano, true flat white w/a real double shot, color screen, easy programming and multi-user. Known Quantity: You know this machine and like the drinks so no risk except the higher price. On coffee dosing: Jura only doses that high when making 2 coffee/espresso at the same time. Otherwise the dose is similar and even lower than the Gaggia for a single drink. Make 2 coffee/espresso on the Gaggia and it runs 2 grind cycles to make them. Jura dose not do that. I'm guessing you've seen my video on the S8. But just in case here's a link: th-cam.com/video/xRrbwmFR9go/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps and good luck with your decision! Marc
Hi there I purchased this based on your review but so far I'm a little disappointed or I don't know how to optimise it or perhaps I'm using the wrong beans. I find that the espressos come out a little too watery. Also I find when I want to adjust it to add maximum ml in coffee, it doesn't regrind and just comes out very light and watery towards the end if that makes sense
Hi Johnny, Excuse my delayed response. I've been off line for a few days. But here to help. Could be the beans for sure but let's take a look at what I can help with beyond those. Don't know how many brew cycles you had done before this comment but it does take about 6 or so for the grinder and dosing to self calibrate in the machine. Those first few shots are always less than full strength. Here's where I start with settings for best espresso: First, adjust the grinder to it's finest setting. When adjusting finer the machine must be free of all beans or in the process of grinding beans when making adjustments. For your espresso set the strength to highest: 5 beans, temp to high and volume to ~1oz/30ml. Brew a couple shots and see how that goes. If needed make adjustments to settings if it seems to strong. If you want a larger espresso - like a double save the settings you like for a single and press the double button in upper right next time you make it. This will make your single two times automatically using two separate grind cycles so you don't lose any strength and things don't get watery. Hope that helps! Mrc

Did you fix this issue? User fault? Warranty repair?
@@phillashley641 I ended up contacting their support and after a bit of back and forth they sent me another carafe to try. That fixed it
Hello.
Hope that helps,
Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage Got it. Thanks a bunch.
Hi Marc, which one makes the better froth, cadorna milk or cadorna prestige?
Hi HG, Thanks for the question. They are very similar in froth quality. Perhaps slightly airier from the Prestige.
Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage thank you Marc!
Great video. How would you comparing the frothing option on this machine to a machine with a wand milk frother?
Hi A, Thanks for the comment and question. The Cadorna prestige produces a single type of froth. It's not as fine as what one can do with a manual steam wand but very nice and requires no skill. The big difference with the machine is the ability to flip milk/espresso prep order based on the drink being made. Makes a big difference doing espresso first then milk for drinks like thew flat white etc. Be aware here in the US the Cadorna is available in the Barista Plus model which has a manual frothing wand which can do latte art quality froth: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-plus

@@Wholelattelovepage awesome. Thank you!
Easy, Gaggia Cadorna Prestige! Most bang for the buck. Pull the trigger!
Marc
Is there a way to switch beans without grinding all that’s been added? Is the finger guard removable to allow manual removal?
Hi Mark, The finger guard is removable using a 2mm Allen wrench.
Marc
It has a manual steaming wand so the same texture as you like as the Breville and much lower cost: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-plus

Marc
@@Wholelattelovepage Thank you Marc. I hope you and everyone at WLL have a great holiday season. You've earned it!!
Hey Marc,
I just bought the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige (cannot wait for it to get here this week), but I'm in need of some proper glassware to enjoy the milk based drinks.
Recently got a friend to dump his Keurig in favor of an automatic and he said: "so this is what real coffee tastes like!" If drinking multiple coffee beverages a day the investment is worth it! Here are some ideas for glassware, shot glasses...

Here's a nice price on a set of 4 espresso cups and saucers
@@Wholelattelovepage thanks for the response Marc!
My spouse and myself have a Keurig as well. We stopped using k cups and started using a reusable cup with fresh ground whole bean coffee that we have, but it wasn't ever as convenient to use or clean. So I totally get where your friend is coming from!
Oh and my understanding is that the Jura has a larger dose capability than the Gaggia 15 g vs 10g I think or something like that not even sure I know what or how that effects the coffee or what would be missing
Lengthy o know but really struggling and these things are not cheap wish I could get them side by side
But I've never had a problem with the Jura
Best Value: Cadorna Barista Plus - but you've got to be willing to froth manually
2nd Best Value: Cadorna Prestige - just one type of froth but flipping the milk/espresso prep order based on type of drink makes a big difference.
But just in case here's a link: th-cam.com/video/xRrbwmFR9go/w-d-xo.html
I hope that helps and good luck with your decision!

Question: why would I choose this over the accademia?
Hi WZ, Thanks for the question.
Pros for the Cadorna Prestige:
Updated color UI
More drink options like proper double shot flat white, cortado, Americano, XL latte & Cappuccino
Store 4 version of each drink in user profiles.
Quick and easy one time drink customization for strength, length, temp
Pros for the Accademia
Flow control on the spouts
More grind settings
Auto steam clean of milk carafe by pushing over handle
3 levels of programmable milk foam density
Manual steam wand for latte art quality frothing
Hope that helps!

@@Wholelattelovepage thanks for the follow up. I owned an accademia years ago (5 or 6 years ago)and loved it....it’s held up well over time then? No design changes?
It looks like the milk could splash quite a lot with this system and make a mess, does this happen?
Hi Ben, Thanks for the question. Not in my experience. Always the chance of a random drop here or there but so long as the cup is properly positioned and frothing components are kept clean it's not an issue.

I just bought a Gaggia Cadorna Prestige, I wonder if I can make a latte using Oat milk instead of fresh milk? Is anyone making Latte with Oat milk please? Any issue?
Hi Vincent, Thanks for the question. You can use oat milk. Some brands may produce a better froth than others. If not having good results with a particular brand try another.
