I first heard Schubert's Unfinished Symphony conducted by Schillings on 78s when |I was 6. That recording made an impression on me. Schillings was very well respected in Germany with a very severe disposition until his death in the 1930s.
If only all of Wagner's music were this enthralling! Great performance, and fine sound from the recording and transfer. I have never actually heard any Max von Schillings recording before, so his name was all I knew of. The legend of he being a wonderful Wagnerian is apparently true! Best wishes from George
