hey chief! i switched to topsoil and playsand for my leopard gecko. previously i was using cocofiber and playsand. thanks for letting me know what substrate to use! the cocofiber mix was dusty, so im glad i got it changed. edit: only problem i see occuring is that the topsoil i used came with quite a bit of wood/malch. my only concern is that while hunting it could possibly ingest one of these mulch pieces. edit: also i started my colony of isopods from the wild. i picked up a few from outside put them in a container (with all the stuff they need) and now i have at least 100. only issue is im not sure they would work in dry climates.
Thank you very much! This is very helpful You need to go to Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't's channel, one of the peeps there has a similar sounding voice to yours. (Sorry for my previous comment's wording)
I also have isopods , I have Porcellio scaber 'wild type red/orange calico as well as yellow calico' and Porcellio laevis 'dairycows' and I love the woodlice, I still wish to have Armadillidum vulgare wild type, Punta cana and St lucia. I keep my current ispods on coconut humus with mole soil mixed with leaves, moss and white rot wood and they are doing well.
Hi first amazing channel brilliant I'm picking up my first bearded dragon on wednesday but nervous just a wick questions can I feed my dragon isopod in UK we call them woodlice as a daily diet as they are easy to get in Wales keep up the great work
Hey chief If i spray the isopds enclosure then how will the humidity stay under the soil it will be all over the enclosure So shouls i remove the leaf litter whenever i spray the enclosure and put the leaf litter back in?
Hey chief can potting soil be used for cricket and all that other stuff instead of top soil? for the terrarium for bearded dragons? I have a big bag I found not even opened in my back yard i forgot I had. It says all purpose fruits vegetables herbs indoor and outdoor
Yes when I meant dry I meant bone dry no water haha. Even the arid species can’t handle 0% humidity. Also keeping them moist will help the breed more. That’s also a reason I say it.
My friend gave me a bag of leaves from her spider plants, potos, dried and some frozen banana peels that she had in her freezer. Can I use these leaves and banana peels in my isopod storage container once they're thawed?
Hi chief Can i use exo terra 5.0 uvb bulb for my calotes versicolr ( lizard species native to india) Its a tropical lizard And can i place it over window screen mesh ?
Hey I’m thinking about getting a 40 gallon tank for my Leo. Right now it’s in a 15 gallon. I have red light and a purple light at night. I’m thinking with my mom of only getting a basking bulb and a UVB light? Is it worth it? Do I still have to use calcium if I get it?
I’d say it’s worth it. As they are mainly active at night and they can see that purple and red so it’s like having the light on all day for them. Yeah still have to use calcium
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse I’m also seeing some of your Leo care guide videos right now. It said if your Leo is albino, (which mine is), you shouldn’t use UVB. But I heard the shade dweller uvbs are ok
Keep up the good work and great info and big thanks for not making dumb thumbnails for clickbait
Happy to help! Glad you like the thumbnails I always go for exactly what the video is about haha
Always so informative and straight to the point. Thank you!
Thank you very much!
Thank you so much for making this video! So easy to understand :)
Nice I can start my colony now
Yes start that colony!

Thank you very much! Yes I was going to say wood lice in the video but forgot haha. Yes you can feed them as a staple to bearded dragons
Hey, do you personally bake the leaves or is it only optional to be really safe?
Optional to be safe I never do
Love your videos I wanted to ask list the most easy to care for I’m been researching a lot of lizards for care like uromastyx and chameleon
I’ll make a video soon about that but crested gecko probably the easiest one
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thanks
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse can’t wait for the video. Also, do you know when it will come out?

Do you have to sanitize the leaves
No
Where do you buy all your insects?
You mentioned dem a die if dry out but think it a worth noting big porcellion can handle arid bioactive for beardies bredda

Yes
How many do we need to buy to start breeding and where do you buy them ?
I usually get at least 10 and you can find them on joshes frogs, eBay, or even Amazon
will you ever get ackie monitors?
One day I hope too
I think i missed it. How do
You breed them?
You just leave them be with all what I provide and they breed inside the tub. After a few months you’ll have hundreds
About how many isopods would you recommend for a 120 gallon bioactive enclosure?
20 is usually what I throw in
Hi chief
Can i use exo terra 5.0 uvb bulb for my calotes versicolr ( lizard species native to india)
Its a tropical lizard
And can i place it over window screen mesh ?
At the current rate of increase those Sterilite containers will cost more than gold bars in 2049

Can i keep 5- 10 isopods in 6 inch long by 4 inch wide by 2.5 inch tall small container ?
Yes
How many days a week should I feed my isopods
And can I feed them fish pellets instead of fish flakes
You can but they don’t eat it as well as flakes and you only need like one pellet or two.
How long does it take them to start having babies?
1-2 months and you’ll have small babies running around the tank
I remember trying to culture isopod, they all died in 4 days xd
Oh no! Hope the next time it goes well
That's actually impressive
