Well yeah. His betrayal and escape with Gwynevere caused turmoil and strife that allowed Mordred the opportunity to ursurp his father and bring the end of Camelot.
Lancelot is also a French creation, a "perfect" knight...
Such a sad day when Lancelot gets into smite before someone like Gawain or other AngloSaxon knights.
I hope we get a a Black Knight skin for him

Heroes of legends were considered and looked upon as gods as well just by their deeds and actions done alone in their past. Goes to show that even mortals can be looked upon as a deity in history

For those who's interested: for all his popularity, *Lancelot as a character is relatively new to the Arthurian mythos.* He was introduced into the cycle with the Romance stories coming from France in the XIIth century. In the original Welsh legends, which date as back as Vth, _he didn't exist at all,_ and the greatest warrior of Arthur back then was... Kay, the Slayer of Giants, the Hunter of Palug's Cat, the Prince of Plunder.
Even if the introduction of Lancelot removed Kay to the background and turned him into a comic relief, he still remained as the most devoted ally of Arthur, a skilled and capable warrior in his own right, he stood beside the king from the very beginning to the very end, and never betrayed him or otherwise fell into darkness, unlike the "noble" Lancelot or, say, Gawayne.

@@toni2296 Well, after Lancelot went berzerk and killed Gawayn's nephew Gareth, Gawayn goes all "vengeance will be mine" and basically drags Arthur and everyone else into the conflict with Lancelot by force. It's all downhill from there, and this is one of the straws that will eventually kill the king and break the Camelot apart.

The whole point of the cinematic is that its ironic. He's no where near as noble as he seems. Especially considering the vision implies he Betrays king Arthur

To be fair, smite re-interprets characters heavily for the game, but I think it’s funny to focus on humility and the Knight’s oath when revealing Lancelot bc the most powerful things about him (imo) were all the ways he fell short of his ideals despite truly believing in them and desiring to live them out. Usually that’s what these trailers intend to do more than anything: show off the character and what makes them unique. I still think the trailer and design are great, just pointing out something that made me chuckle.
If Merlin's vision is true, then all is going to Morgan Le Fay's plan.
Lorewise, lancelot betrays Arthur. In devine comedy, he is in deepest circle of hell even. Along with all other traitors

The newest assassin coming to smite. With an ability to mount his horse in a stance change like mechanic, gaining him access to a new set of abilities. Enemies can knock him off of his steed, however. In his mounted form he can't basic attack or use relics. But can still fire his abilites (ult included). His shield will reduce basic attack damage from people he is facing. He has a dash that can be refired if it hits an enemy. And he has a two stage ability with a sweet spot for extra damage and affects. And yes, his mounting is a normal ability

So his mount (which is possibly his 3) is the switch stance, so we're going to get six abilities between his 1, 2, and ult for on foot and mount stances. That seems pretty cool.

I predicted Lancelot was the one they teased for this year. was Hoping Mordred be the next Arthurian character but maybe in 2024 he'll be added. (I dont see them adding another Arthurian Next year). but design wise he looks awesome and like how they reference the original Lore with Merlin's vision of Lancelot fighting Arthur

No. He is going to Mount up like awilix, with guan/hatchiman movment (on one ability, prbl his 3) All But ult abilities will be changed and dismount him. His ult mounts him up too, but as a sideffect

Awesome addition to the roster of gods but I do wish they would add more gods from the Mayan/Azteca, Polynesian, Slavic, and voodoo pantheons.
Prolly getting Maui and a voodoo god still this year...

This time he's gonna have 2 God kits in 1 ability and 6 passives in each of his normal abilities. And his ultimate is gonna be like king Arthur's is 20 seconds without it being charged and if it is its a full hp execute.
I would like it if the next arthurian character they bring in is Gawain as a guardian or Mordred as a hunter. Or both! Just to fill out the list a bit more

After the release of Jade Emperor, I just have to keep my expectations low so I won't be as disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the visual design team did great as always, but the skillset is boring, lame and brings nothing new to the game. We need more god releases like Cliodhna for example.
No. Fuk no. Game needs normal mages too. And Jade has a cross lane ult and bullshit escape selfbanish. While cliodhna is just annoying with their cc and survivability.
Jade is very solid caster doing his job. We cant have just all gimmic gods.
Not every god needs to be a gameplay renovation. Some gods can and should have simple, straightfoward kits
The Issue with Yu Huang is that his kit is just too flavorless, regardless of simplicity.
@@FranBattery95 Well, for someone like me who's been playing this game for a very long time and mastered every god in the game, I do kinda need and hope for some new fun/unique kits, otherwise it gets repetitive. The thing is, most of the gods in the game *do* have simple/straightfoward kits, and that's been going for a while. I mean, Baron does have a simple/straightfoward skillset but he's nowhere near as unfun to play like the Jade Emperor for example.
