Winifred let here pride get the best of her, as she does throughout the entire movie. They should/could have given the potion to Ice or Jay or one of the hypnotized children. After draining their lifeforce they would have ensured that they don't turn to dust at sunup. That also would have given them time to brew more potion and suck the lifeforce out of everyone else. Then they could have launched a surprise attack on the group in the cemetery after dawn when the group believed that the witches had turned to dust.

Even though Dani just got to Salem, she picked up the town’s history very quickly. Dani knows all about the Sanderson sisters, what they’ve done, and what they used on children. That is why Dani was able to fight off from drinking the potion, at least, long enough for her brother Max and Allison to show up and save her and Thackery Binx as well.
Why are they just standing there freaking crying when they should’ve just tried to pry her mouth open or I mean they could sucked it up #babies but I didn’t really like this scene it was kinda scary I mean if it were me in Dani’s situation I’d kick and just keep on fighting them

The first film blended mild horror and comedy so perfectly. The sequel leans much more to the comedic side, but it was still okay. It will never be a patch on this classic though.
