yeah but i think the point was the witches are so superficial (why they need to suck the life out children in the first place, in order to make them young) that when Danny calls her ugly her pride and ego couldn't handle common sense.
Actually if they listened to Sarah the might have won. She wanted to use the little amount of potion they still had on any of the kids to gain more time but Winnie didn't want to. Sarah also seems to remember the potion better than Winnie.
And Sarah looked like she was really offended and deeply hurt by that "ugly" comment. She knew she was Beautiful and to hear 2 guys called her ugly was just hurtful to her. Sarah deserves all the praise she gets, it's nice to know that Jay & Ice got what they deserved hanging up there in those cages all day and night long.
I think it’s funny how despite being villains, the Sanderson sisters are the more obvious protagonists of the movie. They have such character and charm that it’s hard not to root for them despite them trying to eat children.

What I can't understand is how the Sanderson Sisters survived being burned alive in a furnace. Perhaps, when the Black Flame candle revives the dead (in this case the sisters), its magic keeps them alive until the sun rises the next morning. After all, they did say it would bring them back for one Halloween night. So, as long as the Black Flame candle burns, the sisters CANNOT be killed. I mean, where's the suspense and the drama if the sisters could be killed so easily before the candle burns out?
I always wondered if they were to make a sequel, the Hocus pocus company would have to recreate the whole Sanderson house . from what I heard the house set was torn down for some odd reason.
