Bless mom Galy, I know she wants to help but I remember when I was 19 years old and I was working a job. I came to my dad and asked for some money and he said to me don’t you have a bank account? I was like yes, I do so from that moment, I realized that I had to fin for myself. He did his job now I have to be an adult and budget my money, so I do agree whether you have ADHD or depression you still need to budget your 💴
Even when you pay off your house, there is a monthly payment for taxes and insurance which is still substantial.
I would consider net pay after taxes not after 401k and health insurance. You don't have to do the last two but you must pay taxes. In my budget it shows a net after tax amount and then payment towards health and 401 k. It helps me feel more positive to look at it that way as well.
My nephew took Foundations in high school. He says it was the most valuable class for high school and college! Very true!
Sarah from Atlanta, those numbers were astounding, if someone scammed me for multiple six figures, I for sure would not be going forward after 3 years of marriage. Really sorry, I myself have been married to a crazy person for 30 years, for the kids, and fully regret not getting out a long time ago.

Always have your accounts notify you by phone (security code) if your account needs to be accessed.
Also, check all your accounts electronically once a month as a hard and fast rule.

She needs to leave her spouse. He will do it again. I left my husband of 15 years. We had 4 children. he forged my signature and stole all the money from a joint 401 account. It took 5 years to divorce him. Gather your evidence against him and get yourself a good divorce lawyer. Because of his fraud during the marriage, the judge who granted our divorce gave me the family home and alimony for 5 years.
She is not thinking about her children, not at all, she is solely thinking about her feelings and not wanting to be divorced, honey, he's already divorced you when he crossed the line and took your money, leave him now before he does it again and before he ruins your children's lives. Wake up.

Wanda's numbers aren't right and y'all didn't catch it, she said she makes 188 a year and monthly net is around 6. That's like 75k net annually, even in Cali there ain't no way.

Renting for a bit when moving is a great opportunity to temporarily downsize and actually save money relative to owning. Also, you can take your time selling your other property

Rick, Covid didn't do anything to you, you chose debt. Taking responsibility for your actions is what Dave would point out, and so would I for that matter. You are not a victim you made choices. Poor choices. Good news is everything can be fixed, you just have to make the hard choices and be diligent about getting out of debt.
The 24 year old son who died in a car accident, I suspect she didn't want to say his name because people would recognize him. If I'm right, that life insurance policy could be huge. Honestly, the advice they gave her should have included seeking advice from tax/financial planners. I love them telling her to wait at least a year, though.
Sarah's call was alarming. Unfortunately she is very naive. We need to know what "business" the husband has where he lost 386,000 dollars. Thats unreal. I like Jade and Rachel but they failed to ask how this 386,000 dollars was used. Is the 386,000 in the husband's offshore bank account? We have to do better with the questions. Things don't add up. Sarah is very aware of her money but shocked it disappeared?

@@auroramorales822 Agreed, it was handled so wrong. I actually listened to the call again. You could tell by Sarah's voice inflection that she was leaving out details and not being forthright. I keep going back to the total of $386,000. On top of that, how did he get to this money? This is my opinion on what the truth is. Just an opinion. She gave her husband the money knowingly. She wanted to help his "business". Then after he lost everything she felt dumb and changed the story to, "the husband took the money." One of the more interesting calls.

Sarah I hope you are reading the comments. You are teaching your children how to be treated in a relationship, that someone can lie and betray them and that they stay in a relationship. Go to therapy for yourself dear, therapy is not that expensive, most insurances cover it or some organizations have free sessions. know you are in shock, but your children will thrive better with a healthier mom than a dysfunctional two parent household home. It’s also hard to make decisions with all the postpartum hormones raging through. You can afford a nanny, don’t feel alone: we the internet of stranger moms of children under two are routing for you.

All I can say re Sarah is I had a 2nd husband (kids step dad) that robbed me of over $250k that I got in partially an inheritance. When we married we combined finances. He slowly & sneakily drained $$ over a period of time but when I got inheritance it was in limbo for a while before I could get my trust set up & that’s when he robbed me. By the time I found out it was too late. I will never combine finances again. I would be well over a million worth but for this . . . .

ADHD meds for kids almost always leads to more psych meds that leads to depression that leads to....... Parents, please look at alternative schooling for your kids. Most kids will not have ADHD or any other alphabet psych label if they are not cooped up in school 8-9 hours a day. School for 3-4 hours then play. Broke my heart that the children are already labeled.

I really like Jade and Rachael together ! I would just note- for Floyd- he may just want to be sure of the SS amount- it’s possible that he may be just months away from his FRA ( before 70 of course) and the amount could be a good amount more per month if he waits til for example 66 years and a few months…
Jade, if your hearing is off then so is mine. That guy DID say the bonus was £3000 and that by the time it got into his account, it was about £2400. Then suddenly it was £24000 ... very confusing!
He said $30,000, but after taxes it was $24,000.
The caller that made over 175k and was experiencing divorce. Sounded like there was some lifestyle creep going on. No one asked if she had any bills. Also no one asked if she was utilizing the every dollar ap. She owed 50k to her ex making great income. California is expensive but not that bad. Her mortgage was 3k.

The lady Wanda hopefully gets a personal loan for that money. Even if the interest is 2% higher then the heloc. If shit goes sideways and she doesn’t pay it they can’t take anything.
Lloyd- $200k in a 401K & $2k a month in social security won't be a very comfortable retirement. It is better than many but it isn't really that much to live on from 65 to the end.
Wanda how do you make 188K and only bring home 6k/month? So confused…

The hiding purchases thing is wild to me. If you don’t trust each other with money, there is a deep issue with your relationship. The only purchases I ever hide from my husband are his birthday and Christmas gifts for obvious reasons and even then, he knows the purchase has happened, but it’s just hidden to be a surprise
