Booked this course the morning of play (Tuesday). Downloaded the course app and because it was my first booking with their app I got a $10 discount on a $55 12:08pm tee time with $1.99 booking fee. Drove the 50 miles from Huntington Beach to the course. Got there 2 hours early. Scoped out the place. The starter told me I could check in, grab a cart and tee off whenever. Paired up with another gentleman on the 1st tee an hour before my scheduled tee time. Back to back triple bogeys, then a 3 putt bogey from 7 feet…Settled down, enjoyed the challenge and wonderful condition of a course I’d heard about, but never played. 4:07 round. That’s lightning quick by SoCal standards. Their tee time prices seem to change for each hour of the day. Quite pricey on a weekend, but very reasonable during the week for the fantastic course conditions and scenery. The worst part was having to drive back home when it was done. I will return again later this year because I forgot to properly prep by watching Brett’s awesome videos!🤣 It’s courses like this that make you scrutinize some local munis and their pricing for what they offer. Golf is golf if the course has reasonably playable greens and the rest is ragged, BUT real rough, real fairway grass, geography and a tranquil atmosphere certainly has value.
It’s taken a little while, but the increased cost of golf is certainly separating the good courses from the mediocre ones. I completely agree with you, conditions go a very very long way!
Great golf course design. Played it many times and my favorite in SoCal. They need to add white sand to all bunkers, and repair their edges (remove weeds, rocks). Add ice water containers on several holes due to the heat. It would look great with white sand. Played here immediately after a morning rainfall, as the sun was shining. The sunlight amplified the wet grass’s color to levels I’ve never seen. The property looked stunning.
Solid drone work, commentary/format, and shots made. Also, love that you're using labeled markers/chapters for the holes. Hole 7 - Marble Ridge looks like a potential score wrecker. What a dunk on #8 -- celebration well deserved! Keep up the quality content! Definitely going on my bucket list -- checked rates and was very pleasantly surprised.
@@TerminatorGolf For sure. I can't think of a single (non-exec-9) course I've ever played where a par 3 is index 1. #17 at Worthington Manor (MD) is probably the most similar and I think it's index 4. PB Dye (MD) has a couple challenging ones ones, but I think their lowest par 3 index is 10 (stunning hole). Most of the "downland" style courses I play regularly in Japan have some very tricky layouts, but they're rarely over 190 and the par 4's always blow them away due to the challenge of hitting to a precise position for approach to avoid crazy slope lies
@@okimike5963 There is another here in SoCal with a Par 3 as the #1 stroke hole. Hidden Valley Golf Club in Norco. Not that far from Oak Quarry with a similar feel, tho the last time I played there they needed some tlc on several of the fairways.
Oak Quarry is impeccable and you captured it great Brett! I agree the new routing is better and you came to play! That 5 iron on the par 5 #4, long birdie putt on hole #8 and sand shot on hole #9 were epic!
Not the greatest, but playable. The bunkers on #2 were being filled with brand new sand while we were there…I’m hoping they will do the same throughout the rest of the course, as they are all in dire need of a top off
That was the only criticism I had when playing there a couple days ago. I visited two of the bunkers, not by choice. Out in two both times. Ugh. That’s on me, not the bunker, but some on the back nine looked like they needed some TLC. The stand in hole signs are still there covering up the original rock hole markers as it took awhile to understand the course has been rerouted.
If you play there… one of the members walked down and put a bigass eagle statue on the par 3 signature hole. Look left from the tee box, bring out a shitty ball, and take aim. You won’t regret this

I've played this course many times. You captured the true beauty of this course. Nicely done.
One of my old faves!

That shot on the second par three is something special. Such a hard hole. !!!! Nicely done
Imagine being this good at golf
Just played this course this past weekend. Driver off of #3 (old #1) is a BOLD play
For such a short hole, I believe there’s about the same amount of risk in laying short at the bottom of the hill! That hill is nasty

For a par 3 to be #1 handicap, you know it has to be a brute!

Going to this course on tuesday! cant wait
Solid round, amazing course
This course looks like a video game course, it looks epic!
Great putt on #8!
You play all these courses that are awesome

It’s not everyday when you show up to a top tier course while also absolutely flushing the ball 🤪 Confidence was sky high, just wait til the Back 9!
that course looks spectacular!
That is as dramatic a golf course as I've ever seen. Would love to play it.
I sense you coming to So Cal in the future….
@@TerminatorGolf Only if you have little Thai caddies........
Always hear good things about this course, never played it. Definitely need to get myself out there now, what a stunning course.
I hope the video does some justice to the property, as it truly is stunning! Get on out there when the heat dies down soon!
Damn this course is sooo sick!
no doubt... thats the kinda course that could humble you.. .but you played it well.... great vid
And this course certainly has humbled me before! Not this time tho 😎
This vid is so well put together. The drone shots are killer 👌
Thank you!! There’s plenty more for you to enjoy!
The course cut out of a quarry near me is spectacular, but that 8th hole might just be one of the most dramatic holes ive seen!
Great video man!
I love this course! My first time there I lost nearly 14 golf balls... haha. Now I only lose about 3-5 🤣
Some courses have a tendency to just swallow golf balls…this is one of them!
Nice front 9. Haven't played their in years. The new layout looks awesome. I need to get back put there..
It had been a few years for me as well! Prices jumped a little, but the course never disappoints
that putt was icy!!!
Nice round.
How was the condition of the bunkers? Some of them looked like they haven't been maintained at all.

Love this course. I feel like it doesn't get the SoCal love that it deserves.
I feel that it’s just a little too remote for the LA crowd….but it’s certainly one of the best around!

What kind of putter is that
Ping Redwood Anser 303ss
I have the same putter at 34” in black w/ headcover and Super Stroke Grip, potentially for sale.
