    That fan was a huge disappointment. The Recon package is still the best package Jeep has ever produced. I will ultimately love the JL, but in the 4 I test drove were all louder with more wind noise than any JK I have ever driven. It will take 3-4 years for Fiat to fix all the issues that they have now. Yours looks great though.

      SaintNick71 there are a few growing pains with the JL. Besides the loud fan, I have experienced no real issues. Thank you for watching!

      SaintNick71 - I've been looking at the Recon package but it is only available with the 4 cyl 2.0l turbo, and not the v6 3.6l. I'm on the fence about that.

    Correction - the hood vents are NOT functional. I saw a video by jeepinformant, they were removed and they don’t have vents all they have is a water drain hole.

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I appreciate you bringing up this highly-debated point. If water can go in, air can escape. The vents aren’t wide open, but they don’t need to be. A small opening is all that is needed when hot air is trying to escape. At speed with cooler airflow over the hood, hot air is pulled out quite effectively. Hot air rises and between the pressure differences and air coming in the grill, the hood vents function as intended.

    @americanjeeper, nice overview. So what is the size of your tires running on the stock rims?

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      G-Man, wow this seems like so long ago but it’s only been a few months. I am running 37 x 12.5 R 17 Firestone Destination M/T2’s with 1 5/8” wheel spacers. It’s not ideal and a temporary solution, but the setup has performed well so far.

    • @grein46087
      @grein46087 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AmericanJeeper great thank you, the spacer is what I am trying to avoid. I may just need to break down and get a different set of wheels

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      G-Man that solves the problem. They are on my short list for sure. I had never run spacers before in 4 jeeps, so I thought I would give it a try this time.

    Quick question. How did you mount the jack on the bumper there, looks nice would like to do same.

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Purogarrote I used mounting holes intended for lights and used some pieces from a universal hilift mount.

    The JL is a definite upgrade over the JK, I just wish they weren't so expensive! I will be sticking with my JK for now. I have subscribed and just watched all of your videos. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more videos to come. Please take a look at my channel and subscribe!

    I think they are both great vehicles. There are pros and cons to both the JL an JK. JL has yet to be proven. Time will tell. But Jeep will eventually work out the kinks.

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tazzel they sure are. There are quite a few things better about the JK, but that is for another video. Thanks for watching 🇺🇸

    I was wondering what kind of acceleration and Mpg change you noticed since putting on the 37s

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cameron it really depends on how you drive, but I am at around 16-18 still. Going 80 vs 65 on the highway will make a huge difference because at higher speeds you will be in 6th or 7th gear instead of 8th. This is still about 2-3 mpg better than my JKU Rubicon with 35” tires.

    Actually the top hood vents are not functional. They only have a drainage hole for water

    Would you choose the 2018 sports s JL or the 2018 sahara JK ?

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mopar Charger personally if given those two options I would choose the Sport S, but it would depend on pricing and options. The Sport S and Sahara are very comparable off road, but the Sahara has more creature comforts available for more money. I am most concerned with off-road performance and less about the tech, so I would get the Sport S and use the money I saved over the Sahara to start modifying the Jeep.

    • @moparcharger8642
      @moparcharger8642 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      American Jeeper thanks for the honest opinion 👌🏼. I subscribed to your channel...well the 2018 JL sports is abt 34k and the 2018 Sahara JK is abt 35k... almost the same but the JL interior is amazing, dashboard, speedometer, the shift gears, backup camera. Is going to be a hard decision between the JL and the JK.

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mopar Charger thank you for subscribing. It is a tough call because both Jeeps are great. If the Sahara is that close, it may be worth it. Are you going to take your Jeep off road?

    • @moparcharger8642
      @moparcharger8642 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      American Jeeper well we get some snow, and I would like to take it to the beach (sand).. basically just for that. And of course a daily drive

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mopar Charger either one will do great. Tough call there but for me I would do the JL. Have you driven them both? The automatic transmission in the JL is super smooth.

  • @bskarpa
    @bskarpa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Actually the hood vents are not functional. They backs are solid plastic with a hole at the bottom to let water drain. Sorry this leaves you with 49 now.

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bobby S they are functional-I have verified water and airflow as have many others. The foam insulation is semi-permeable.

    • @bskarpa
      @bskarpa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AmericanJeeper then why is there only a small oval hole in them? 1"x 1/2" is NOT functional. Show some videos of you taking them out so we can see a functioning Hood vent. I've seen them taken out and they are for water management. The vents on the quarter panels are more functional than the hood lol.
