There has always been a knack to dialing in Mesas. You get it or you don't. Usually, getting it involves reading the instructions. Blows me away how many people won't do that. Many Mesa amps even have specific orders in which you're supposed to dial things.I've never boosted a Rectifier in my life. @tommywd40 I don't mind it in spirit, but the last thing I want is fot Mesa to be like Marshall, coasting by on former glory without making anything new.
@@STORMBREAKER_250 Double edged sword for Marshall and Gibson. When they release new things, they get criticized and ridiculed, so they release the familiar items and the same thing happens. I remember how much hate the late 2000s Gibson guitars got (think BFG, voodoo, and etc.) and yet they are some of the most collectible and "cool" instruments right now.
So, is this a Rev-F or Rev-G circuit base? I know you said you tweaked it, but curious what your initial circuit was based off of? I want one, obviously, because I collect 2-channel Rectos, but I already have 3 Rev-G’s, and don’t need another one. I only have 1 Rev-F, so if that’s what this was based on, I’m much more interested.
@ it does sound tighter than my Rev-G triples, but after Mike B. Worked on my 1995 Dual Rev-G, it’s a lot tighter than it was before. Not sure what he modded, but it tightened it up. Still doesn’t have as much gain as my Rev-F…That thing’s a monster! And clear as a bell. Even with all that gain, you still hear every note, whereas my Rev-G’s get a bit mushy and ambiguous in the notes. Still sound amazing, but not Rev-F amazing. My 92 Rev-F is an early one, and has the MK3 transformers. It’s getting fixed/tuned-up at Mesa right now. IMO, the Series 1 Single-Rec is the best of the Rev-G based circuits (sounds like a tweaked Rev-G), and the clean channel is warm and creamy. The Series 1 SR has an incredible amount of articulate gain, sort of like the Rev-F, but not quite as much.
So I'm confused is this like a reissue of the original '90s one two channel or what? I was just talking the other day how sweet the chromed out ones looked
Cant wait to hear dem dad rock tones!!!! EDIT lmao this is even funnier, they went the metal route by not knowing how to actually dial in a decent metal tone 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I played one for a while and that thing was a flub monster. Could never get a good tone out of it. On the other hand my 50 watt single rectifier is worlds tighter and the tone is fenomenal.
From an economic point of view, it totally makes sense to reissue products when the vintage originals have become rare and expensive collectables. Many fans will appreciate these reissues for several reasons. The new ones are more reliable, you can gig and tour with them without the risk of breaking the precious old stuff. And spare parts are available. The reissues might even be improved in some aspects compared to the originals. But for the brand Mesa Boogie it is a clear sign that they have lost their creative momentum. They have turned towards their own past. We will see how this brand will survive the next decades. Imagine Apple or Ferrari would decide to concentrate on replicas of their most glorious models. It would work up to a certain amount, i guess. But nevertheless such brands would loose their importance forever, because they are not progressive anymore.
It's hard to compare Apples fast living tech, that somehow is still often behind competition (where some of the stuff from 2014 is already considered "vintage" by them..) to music gear. Same for Ferrari/Porsche/Mercedes, there are many fans who would love to own something like the old real thing but simply can't, due to the high price, or it is to valuable/risky to drive around. In terms of cars you can only drive designs what the companies push towards you..unless you win the lottery lol, for safety upgrades for the better but for design choice and maintenance by yourself often to the worst...just look at new BMW's with these massive kidneys 😂. I personally would love to own an old SL, even if there was an alternative new version that not runs on gasoline.
@@g.koch.of course the big difference in car market is that you simply cannot sell new old models due to legal restrictions. At least for public driving. That makes owning and using reissues of legendary vintage cars like the Aston Martin DB6 a privilege for the super wealthy. At least in Europe I can imagine a ban on tube amplifiers because they are so ineffective in terms of power consumption. That would give brands that heavily rely on classic models a big headache. Don’t get me wrong, I adore both vintage cars and amps. But producing them literally forever won’t save the planet.
There are different revisions of this amp and some people will go out of their way to look for a revision F or a revision G. If this amp is based on those it will sell very well. Also they made the clean channel better which is a massive improvement on these amps.
I still think Mesa Boogie needs to come down on pricing but i'm glad they are doing this. People asking $6,500+ for a rev f rectifier...Common. Everyone likes to think their stuff is worth top dollar, no matter what it is.
Interesting how we see the MK IIC+ reissue in the back round, and we know how that launch went. Oh Gibson, how could you. lol The thing is, we don't see Mesa amps in this video, remember, they are NOT mesa. They are Gibson. That has to be made clear.

I guess ill have to wait for the guitartubers to dial it in. I already have a Rev G Dual so i won't be a buyer, but the black and chrome face plate does look cool.
I had a buddy that got one, but didn’t like it. I thought he was crazy, idk I loved it. 😂 I mean everyone is different, the amp he went with is still cool, I like em all really. This one was just kinda fat, kept telling me to try putting a pedal in front of, but he wanted to be more simple chain kinda thing. Like I said everyone has there thing.
I don’t if it would be easy to dial in the real Dual Rectifier when you‘re used to an Axe Fx 3. There you can adjust the sound to a degree which is impossible on the real amp. I‘ve played a Dual Rectifier once in a Music Store and I remember it as a fizzy and boomy beast.

@@saintmanuel I get that but Fluff (Mister Recto) is not a Mesa artist anymore
@@DerSilvano I see, you´re better informed than I am, since I´m not really following him. Once a artist/musician/YT-Person becomes more of a salesman, I´m out. Ola at least has his own line of guitars and interviews besides his testing, so I´m still subscribed.
This thing has been heard on so many records. Good on Mesa for making a proper reissue.
Thanks for being here!
Is that what you think this is?
Going to make Triple Rectifiers in this configuration?
Make a 25 watt version please. 😭🖤🙏🏻
Finally! Mesa/Gibson, if you're reading this, will you finally start offering the chrome-chassis again on a full-time basis? If so, custom order on other amps? I'll be grabbing this Rectifier re-issue for sure, but the chrome-chassis is just so goddamn badass looking lol 🤟
Also don't worry, all the chirping is just in good fun, we'll all be buying one anyway 😅
I'd love too buy one too bad this'll probably be over 3k.
Mesa is just gonna be pumping out reissues from now on. Great job, Gibson
In this instance, it isn't a bad thing. Try buying a used IIC+ or 2 channel recto and you'll see the price gouging.
Supposedly this is a cross between Rev G/F.
Rectifier crushes the mk2 c+
So I'm confused is this like a reissue of the original '90s one two channel or what?
I was just talking the other day how sweet the chromed out ones looked
Cant wait to hear dem dad rock tones!!!! EDIT lmao this is even funnier, they went the metal route by not knowing how to actually dial in a decent metal tone 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Will the Triple Rectifier be getting a throwback design too? I would be interested in one myself if that were the case.
Nothing beats the power of the triple.
I played one for a while and that thing was a flub monster. Could never get a good tone out of it.
On the other hand my 50 watt single rectifier is worlds tighter and the tone is fenomenal.
Very cool! I'd love to try one out
Do they actually have 2 rectifier tubes ?,sorry for the dumb question
Rackmount version as well?
It is back 😍
From an economic point of view, it totally makes sense to reissue products when the vintage originals have become rare and expensive collectables.
Isn't Badlander series the modern version of the Rectifier? They aren't going anywhere anytime soon it seems.
So rad, except the Bold/Spongy switch being on the front. Option should always be on Bold
You are on fire!! Also bring back the Roadster/Roadking!
I really want to hate the "legacy brand" direction that Gibson is taking Mesa in... but God damn if they're not tempting me...
Seems like they’re improving Mesa, which is surprising. Almost everyone prefers the older Rectos.
This feels more like a Gibson cash grab than a "return to form" for Boogie, IMO.
So what changed? Is it Chinese?
Recorded with Headphone amp VOX Metal?
Better than ever but I don't think I own it yet
I’ve only had the Fortune to use Amp Sims of said Amplifier…
Knew this was coming. Waiting on that Mark IV 🙏
Well seeing Mesa is owned by Gibson now. The catalog will be full of reissues soon.
I know what the first thing I'd play on this thing is:
"Forfeit the game before somebody else takes you out of the frame and puts your name to shame, cover up your face, you can't run the race, the pace is too fast, you just won't last."
what rev is the amp based on
c, d, f or g ?
this is the amp i didn’t mod back in the day and biggest regret not holding onto during my chase the tone days …. miss it so much
i’m in
Bit of a F/G hybrid with an improved loop
i just put my deposit down at sweet water. i’ll be one of the first customers to have one
@@mrshredder0076 how are you enjoying your amp?
I have to pick it up from the FedEx office tomorrow or saturday
Can’t wait
need it
I guess ill have to wait for the guitartubers to dial it in. I already have a Rev G Dual so i won't be a buyer, but the black and chrome face plate does look cool.
Really wants this.
What guitar is that?
1:07 deftones - elite...
Umm, should have had Ola or Kyle Bull do this. Didnt you learn?
I had a '99 two channel Recto and I did prefer it to the 3 channel that I bought later.
Finally, a proper not fart sounding amp 😺
I don’t if it would be easy to dial in the real Dual Rectifier when you‘re used to an Axe Fx 3. There you can adjust the sound to a degree which is impossible on the real amp. I‘ve played a Dual Rectifier once in a Music Store and I remember it as a fizzy and boomy beast.
Quizás podrían probar usando unas Paul Reed Smith para sus demos...
Why did you stop making it just like the 90’s I’ve had other model after that an the 90’s will always be my favorite wish I never sold it😞👍🏾
Needs a maxon ST9Pro+ super tube in front of it. Mesas need boost
