    3. Isotoner Slippers- Everything about this commercial is just brimming with so much cuteness. From the dog’s ears flying up, the dog delivering a pair of slippers to the woman, to the dog delivering a plushie to the girl in the end.
    6. McDonald’s- Having a birthday candle on the Biscuit sandwich like that is a creative idea. I bet that was one birthday that man would never forget.

A lot of memories connected to this time. I always looked forward to this time of year, as the day after, Dad would take me out shopping and to look at the things I was dreaming of for Christmas that year. (In 88, Super Mario Bros 2 and Zelda II were at the top of my list. I would get both, along with Bubble Bobbles that year.) The rest of the weekend, my Dad and I would decorate the house, put up the tree, and our outdoor display. The parade always meant the start of the fun for me over the weekend.

They just don’t make holiday themed commercials like this anymore.

World Class Track Meet was a reskin of an earlier NES title called Stadium Events. When Nintendo decided to release it as World Class, Stadium Events was forced to be pulled from the shelves. It’s now one of the rarest and most expensive cartridges on the NES.

They did away with the cutting of the tape with scissors and the countdown to "Let's have a parade!", which was disappointing. I almost missed it because I looked away.

26:59 Pretty sure Willard Scott and Clifton Davis rapping wasn't exactly something anyone was expecting either. 😂

Forbidden Broadway was hilarious. Had some of their CDs, and went to see their show in 2006. Wish it was still around. Broadway doesn’t feel the same without their satire.

The Cosby Show-was thinking this was going to be the"BIG FUN/Wretched"episode 🤣
Dear John-not pictured:John grinning ear to ear
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade-Clifton and Willard shouldve collaborated on an album
Day By Day-featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus before she hit it big on Seinfeld
Cocoon: The Return-sequel sadly lacked the magic of the first

Yay Williard Scott, Sandy Duncan, Frankie Valli, Bert and Ernie, Roberta Flack, Fred Travelena, the Four Tops, the Rockettes, and Santa Claus! I'm beginning to appreciate the older Macy*s parades more than I do today's parade. I tend to ask "who?" with most of the celebrities that appear these days.

WNBC! Also the talking baseball games was awesome, I had the Hess truck with the race car that really worked and I remember that Rayovac back scratcher from an earlier volume!

13:57 can't imagine these were played with for any longer than 5 minutes. Reminds me of one of those toys in that movie Big with tom hanks were he critiques the toys the adults made that arent fun 😂

Electronic sports games like this were popular from the late 70's to the early 80's and were very profitable for companies like Mattel and Parker Brothers. These games made sense in the time of Atari and Intellivision but by the late 80's kids could play something like R.B.I. Baseball for the NES and get a much better experience.

I feel like Willard Scott was extremely comfortable in his awkwardness and was most likely at least slightly inebriated when doing these parades. There is obviously some playful banter/flirtation throughout this but I never get the impression that Sandy Duncan was made uncomfortable or even slightly annoyed by it. It was a different time, not necessarily better but perhaps less judgemental.

@@80sCommercialVault I'm just teasing - it was pretty accepted behavior at the time, the only time it really seemed odd was with the NCAA dancers at the beginning. It's just funny looking back now. Not trying to cancel him I swear!

We need to bring back wholesome family entertainment, featuring sentimental songs performed by an orchestra and ACTUAL singers.
Even in this parade, you can see that they tried keeping things up to date with a little hip-hop segment, but it didn't completely take over.
There wasn't a fixation on making things young and sexy.
i haven't watched a Thanksgiving Day parade since the 90s.
    How are they today?
Can you imagine what the celebrity roster would look like?? 😆🤣
