1984 was the year I turned 7, and was starting to get into and becoming aware of pop culture. Transformers launched and captured my imagination, and I fell in love with movies when my two older brothers took me to see both Gremlins and Ghostbusters during the summer. Became more aware of music and MTV around that time, so it was a great year for me.
In the "I Love the '80s Strikes Back" special for 1981, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog claims that he sued Grey Poupon because everyone at his stand-up shows back then thought his catchphrase was a reference to their product.🤪
Timex Quartz Watches- If a building that looked like a functional giant watch like the one in this commercial actually existed, I can imagine how much of a disturbance it would cause for people with the loud noises it would make, such as ticking. Lipton Rice And Sauce- This commercial marks the first time I’ve ever seen various people look overly satisfied eating something as simple as a packaged rice side dish.
3:48- really great to see this ad the week of King’s Quest’s 40th anniversary as the game was originally developed for IBM PCjr (and then released to Apple IIc and other ports).
I love the cheesy Grey Poupon ad. It is so over the top and I’m all for it. I did some research and the classical music piece that plays in the background is Handel’s Water Music Suite 2 “Alla Hornpipe.”
I know sorta what's going on in that days of our lives promo. Roman Brady is chasing down Stefano DeMiera. Stefano planted a bomb in the salem concert hall. It was during the Salem Slasher storyline.
Apple had it better with the Apple II/e. All schools had them well into the 90s and had some great games like Carmen Sandiego, Picture Chompers, Number Munchers, Pizza To Go, and the very popular game we remember most known as The Oregon Trail. And I always seemed to have been or one of my party members died of dysentery.

Such great memories. I turned 8 in 84 I remember all of this. I miss these times.
I also was 7 in 1984. Good times. Team Gen X

My family all watched V: The Final Battle together, and I had nightmares about the alien baby for years.
That definitely terrified me as a little kid! Still freaky

"Orange your kids!"
I thought for sure she was going to eat that giant spoonful of hellmans.
I vaguely remember this day. I was in 7th grade back then.
Love that Stroh's ad 3:02. "Alex, you better be drinking your water."
Apple IIc's $1,300 price tag is the equivalent of $3,926.80 today, so it's not shocking it didn't sell...
I always got the Apple IIc and IIe mixed up, as I used both in school back in the day! The one here did look nicer and the keyboard felt different.
At 1:48, it's Vernee Watson a.k.a. Will Smith's mom on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She also played a nurse on multiple Chuck Lorre sitcoms.

I love the Stroh’s commercial with the dog bartender (2:50)

Is that Carol Potter from 90210 in the VISA commercial at 3:12?

2:45 - Neat trick, but I question the sanitary nature of it…
Also, imagine having to take your dog to AA meetings...
@@80sCommercialVaultHey, at least Spuds MacKenzie wouldn’t feel left out being the only dog at AA.

Stroh's b) Alex was the driver of that truck
You Are The Jury-i'd say that the wife was plotting to have him killed
TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes-has to be a V blooper reel out there
Family Secrets-hopefully none were worth being disowned for
Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard-guy has plenty on hand for whenever Aquaman needs some
