I remember, back in the olden days when I was a younging, ha ha, in Late 1980's; Oh Snapper Rocks was a Local's Spot. You didn't mess with them, no drop ins back than or you would likely get 'localised'.. .. p.s I'ld love to send you a clip of me and my brother sharing a wave on Mal's back in 2000, When Rainbow Bay still existed! Well it was the end of Snapper riding into Rainbow
There was a few guys going out with water cams and a guy on a jet ski filming most of the good days . I think a lot of peoples footage goes on Instagram . The rip sucks to swim against with a camera 🎥 and obviously taking bombs on the head 🤣
Can tell, on a day like this it’s hard. You paddle most likely against the current and the crowd. Plus you have people jumping from the rocks and they are back at the top of the peak. Your best chance is to get on one of the peaks when the wave doesn’t connect all the way or to wait for someone to fall. The crowd here is one of the reason you see so many drop ins. People get frustrated.
@@julesprual nice sounds like you surfed it a fair bit, I was thinking of moving there, but probs will stick to a less well known part of the coast, may not be getting the super bank wave but at least get some waves
What part of the east coast is this? I'm from California, but I used to live in Sydney years back. It's amazing how fast and unpredictable (in terms of closing out) this break is.
The famous Snapper Rocks, the Northern part of NSW and Queensland is like this on the points, super racey and tricky with high S-SSE Winds at 20-25 knots.
@@jakesboardreviews How I missed that break, I don't know! Thanks for taking the time to tell me where it is. I thought I knew most of the New South Wales Coastline. With the wind and the rocks, it reminds me of some breaks in S. California, from Laguna to La Jolla. But Snapper Rocks is way faster. It's amazing. Talk about critical timing to drop in.
Im live in Recife, Brazil..
My dream is Surfing this wave.
Snapper ♥
Great footage legend ✊🏻💯🇦🇺🤙🏻
loved this whole video. what a day.
I'm a Hawaii boy but really like MIck, he's something special. His speed, his velocity getting down the line is perhaps best in the world.
The only people that are allowed to surf our waves in Australia are Hawaiian people they are legends
Great waves to celebrate my 70th Birthday.
Looks like sandspit or rincon , my boy killed that 1st wave

Quite a few heroes besides just Mick and Mikey out there. That goofyfoot in the trunks had some pretty insane kegs.
Looked like Nic Vasicek
Yeah totally everyone here is top level , Mick and Mikey just get eyeballs 👀 on the videos 😁
That grab rail cutback on the first wave was insane. I miss Mick on tour.
Was that the Vas on the backhand? Go the Vas legend looks hefty😅
It's still pumping today LOL, nice long swell and still 900 out .
Yewwwww 🙌🙌
3:16 sick.
That lineup looks crowded af. Bet there were a few fights in the parking lot and beach🤣
Any know of any footage from the water? Would be insane

@@Surfdays.australia Thanks man hope to see some!
How hard is it to get one of those waves? Looks really crowded.
Really hard probably, unless you’re a local or Mick Fanning.

Who was that at the end on the gray board regular foot, came flying out of a barrel around 4:40?
Dorrington I think
Brenno the midget
Refreshing lack of terrible soundtrack.
wow

Literally trying not to hit people on your way through....hectic
is it the sand or the swell direction
Both
A few snot wipes in this clip.
Ain’t a god damn thing new in surfing in the last 100 million years
Was that the midget Brenno at 3:55 on nearly the wave of the day!?
Bring him your largest great white.💯🥸
Can't imagine how many bombs Fanning must have had out here over the years.
3ft Hawaiian. 🤙
still always fun😁
4:04 OMG.
NO SLOMO please
Watch Mick wipe out and then don’t see him at all video.
What a zoo.
