I always really liked the Deacon. At the time it felt like it was left as a clue to the big Xenomorph mystery at the end of Prometheus. After Covenant though, the Deacon felt like an abandoned plot point that no one really wanted to acknowledge or explore further. And this is probably because Scott wanted to explore David and AI more instead of the Xeno. Looking at the whole Alien prequel arc now, I like the idea of the mural being of a Prime Xeno that the Engineers encountered and the Deacon is closer to this Prime species than David's Neomorphs and the eventual Xenomorph which would be the result of extensive experimentation. That being said, I still prefer the mystery of the first few movies where the Xenomorph was just this creature with no clear beginning and no motive other than procreation and survival. The ultimate nihilistic organism.
I kinda wonder if David will ever go back to this planet and finds the deacon and splices it's DNA with the other alien he created in covenant and then possibly whatever creature that spawns might be the Xeno OR closer to the xeno
Well they hoped-for Fans to see enough DNA via the Hammerpedes, the Trilobite and the Deacon as well as the Mural to see that the Engineers and LV-223 are connected to the Xenomorph without giving us the exact connection or which came first. While RS wanted to move away from ALIEN and the Xenomorph in sequels, it seems that we would have seen more Monsters we could trace some DNA to the Xenomorph but it was not to be the actual showing of the Origins of the Xenomorph like Alien Covenant has began to indicate. Some fans were not to impressed with the Deacon. But we have to remember that the Deacon was a Hybrid which had a lot of Human DNA. If we look at a Typical New Born Mammal inc Humans vs the Adult. Then the Deacon would likely have grown to a impressive 12-16 Foot Tall Specimen. That would have surely been something very Deadly compared to the Xenomorph

I think the Deacon is basically a proto-xenomorph. It's the first iteration that comes from the black goo after mixing the DNA of just 2 species. As the alien lifecycle continues, it incorporates DNA from different hosts to become a "perfect being." The aliens from the first 2 films were likely the most advanced as they came right from engineer ships and had presumably gone through hundreds or thousands of lifecycles. They appeared more "biomechanical" than even the neomorph that David created. The classic xenomorphs could be older than the Engineers themselves, not just a weapon created by them, which would explain why the Engineers have a mural that appears to "worship" the xeno.
Then there are those of us that have been in the univers for 30 years or more. Depending when you first watched one. Preteen around 1990 or so for me with Aliens.
It was pretty strange what they did with the Deacon in Fire and Stone/Life and Death. Those comics were really the best Prometheus/Aliens/AVP/Predator crossover. It would certainly make a satisfying film
I know! When I was watching this, and it got to the Predator fighting a frickin' Deacon, I was like:' That would have been badass!' This comic series would have made a amazing movie, maybe a trilogy if they did it right!
The nature of the Substance that Created the Xenomorphs & the Xeno's themselves make me think that the Deacon could evolve a means to reproduce, like morphing into a Queen of sorts.
We can only Speculate as to how the Dr Shaw Deacon would have procreated... we have to Bare in mind that the Trilobite was a Human/Facehugger of sorts Hybrid. While it may retain some Procreation methods we acocoated with a Xenomorph, it also has Human DNA. So we can only Speculate.... but it would appear that a Adult Deacon like we saw in Prometheus would stand at least 12 Feet Tall. Maybe it has some of the Reproduction of a Human? So maybe it would give Birth to Live, Trilobite like Creatures, or bypass that by being able to Give Birth to Baby Deacons itself. This would by-pass the requirement of a Host, which was one of the best things about the Xenomorph that made it Horrific. On the Flip side the requirement of a Host is a Flaw to the Xenomorph. If this Deacon could give Birth to say 6-10 Baby Deacons a Day, which can grow to Adult within a few Days. The Deacon would be a Great Threat. If its off spring grew as fast as the Neomorph then we have a Bigger Threat than the Xenomorph

First we need a scary movie with the atmosphere of Alien Isolation. Then we need an action movie, with concepts of Aliens Colonial Marines with all type of new Xenomorphs. Like the Raven, Spitter, Preatorian, Deacon and so on. (Maybe a scene like in the sewers of Aliens Colonial Marines or a club fight scene between Xenos and Marines like in the Aliens VS Predator Game). But my main accolade, would be your Voice Overs and Narrations. The timbre and cadence of your voice is highly appreciated as a YT content surfer. I am sure you have had someone point this out before. Personally, there are only a couple of YT Channels I can stomach and follow for any real entertainment; based on that fact. Most YT content creators sound either robotic, unenthusiastic or straight-up monotone with a never-ending drone that would easily break anyone's Willpower and restraint down and give up the location of a stashed Pulse Rifle, while a PoW on a bug world. well done sir! I do prefer the xenomorph being a product of nature with their own homeworld even though the Prometheus origin doesn’t upset me either. I feel like enough retconning and head cannons can connect the two together.

David could be the creator, though it looks more like he was following a blueprint or something, and the black goo’s aspect that makes a deacon/xenomorph could just be because the engineers wanted to recreate the xenomorph they could have found on some planet, maybe to weaponize it or for other reasons, we don’t know for sure just yet. I hope they don’t fuck it up in the next film. I loved Prometheus but I thought Covenant was quite rubbish.
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 I feel that having the xenomorph behave more like an animal is what's diminishing it's terror. It acting more like an ant colony in Aliens and it having a homeworld loses the mystery and the unnatural feel it had in the original Alien and in Prometheus/Alien Covenant. The creature was originally created to feel as unnatural as possible, to be a perversion of nature. I mean, it is "birthed" from a man and kills it in the process, it has acid for blood, it can survive the vacuum of space, it does not need to feed and it's instinct is not to survive, but to kill. It not being a creature of nature, but a weapon is what's so terrifying about it.

Since we are talking about Xenomorph variants, one of the questions we asked when we were kids in the 80's is what is the Xenomorph endgame? is it just to survive? Spread themselves across every world? Follow its programming as a biological weapon?
Another thing to I was thinking about just recently about Xenomorph variants. If the Xenomorph infected and subdued a civilization that uses living technology instead of machine technology like we do would that grant them the ability to spread across the galaxy or universe like the Zerg from Strarcraft or Tyrannids from Warhammer 40k? Imagine if Xenomorph facehugger successfully implanted its embryo in a living ship would the resulting Xenomorph be able to fly like the living ship? or perhaps the facehugger implants into embryo into a living creature that eats Iron ore and spits out Steel pellets would the Xenomorph coming out be able to do the same?
I've always thought they were just intelligent bio weapons, the derelict in alien was probably a weapons carrier which would explain why theres thousands of them inside with stasis fields to keep them alive during the travel time
@@rezkid16 I think so too, since some of that material was to create meaning restructure the DNA in a species, and I THINK the derelict Elizabeth and David hi-jacked was a destroyer ship of some kind completely different material than the first ship they explored

@AlienTheory, thank you for clearing up the information around the Deacon’s inspiration! So the Xenomorph’s pharyngeal jaw was inspired by moray eel’s, given what the Goblin Shark’s influence in the Deacon.
I really loved the concept of the various permutations of the pathogen creatures and the concept art that accompanied it. I wish we had gotten to see more of it in the actual films.
One of the earlier ideas for a Prometheus Sequel was to showcase various Organisms that David had Engineered from the Black Goo. Had we got a Sequel to Alien Covenant i am sure we would have seen David creating more Creations which would not have been Xenomorphs
I guess now would be the best time to say that like a year ago, I needed to drive across the country ( around 30ish hours and the beginning of the outbreak) and your videos kept me amazing company and sane. So thank you for being there and here now.

I personally think the deacon was terrifying. I would love to have seen it really come to play as a major antagonist... I was hoping the follow up to prometheus was going to feature it in a more direct role... From what I've read and seen in sketches.. prometheus was originally a much much darker and horror themed movie than what we got.. Scott seems to have a thing for having these great ideas, but going a more conservative route.. the amount of material he tends to cut is almost an entire movies worth alone. What could've been won't be...

Would love to watch a series of you doing a reading of fire and stone similar to your Earth War series. Love all your videos but your story narrations are my favourite to put on and do some modelling dioramas or drawing. The theory of the engineers wanting to irradicate humans in order to break the cycle of the deacon is a interesting idea. It's something that I hadn't thought of and haven't heard anywhere else until now. I love the universe they've created and would be willing to watch more about the comic version
Since the original "infection" seemed to morph with every generation, it makes sense that the xenomorph is its own form and will change according to the next host's DNA. That's what I've thought about the ever-changing form with each generation; it takes on characteristics of its new host and becomes a hybrid of the two.

The neomorph is cool for certain but do think i would have rather seen more deacons! Especially after seeing the fire and stone concept art. Figuring out their behavior and relation to the xenomorph is a story worth exploring! Also the kenner style deacon toy is neat!

I've been playing isolation and I finished it so many times but have you ever noticed some of the doors that say device invalid some of these doors can't be opened until you have the third actual card which is right by the ambulance bay so after getting that card I didn't go to the ambulance to the Inn Isadora I went back to the Scimed Tower and Lorenz systec spire And you'll find some androids in the garbage bag the orange one you know and a few people still wandering around but it is cool to get into all those rooms that you couldn't get into before
yeah you know this Prometheus stuff just doesn't wash with me it might've been a cool movie but I feel it definitely was not part of the alien universe one bit
I would absolutely love it if you did a reading of fire and stone. I have always been a fan of the films, but watching your videos of accounts of the earth war started off a whole Alien obsession for me that has helped stave off lockdown boredom.
The Deacon becoming the fully grown "Ultramorph" is the only Xenomorph we really need to see in the next film wether it's a sequel to Alien: Covenant or a sequel to Alien Resurrection!!!!! Preferably Alien Covenant because the Deacon is in the prequel series not the original series!!!!! If Ridley Scott does still decide to make Alien : Awakening (the third film in the prequel series) I will be completely content with the entire franchise as a whole & don't care of seeing another Alien film as long as this next & final prequel film is done perfectly!!!!! We honestly don't really need another Alien film after Alien : Awakening as long as it ties the prequel series directly into the original 1979 Alien film unless they remake a AVP film properly 💯
I love these videos by Alien Theory! I wish they had expanded on the Deacon more only because it went through to intelligint hosts both capable of speaking. It would be amazing to find out if this thing was smart could use tools or had a semblance of intellect that wasn't based solely on hunting and killing.
The extended nature of its previous lives [in the sperm of a male, then the womb of a female, then as a wandering squid, until finally the embryo in a large humanoid] made me hope that the genetic diversity would give it some manner of intellect. We see it as an infant at the end of Prometheus, screaming and wailing, but already quite large. If I were writing its story, it would triple in size by adulthood and wander the empty planet forelorn and lonely. Over time, it would develope its humanoid brain structure and understand that it was left here by its progenitors, and grow sad and angry. I would attempt to mirror the emotions felt by the human characters in Prometheus toward the Engineers. Why was I made? Is my purpose simply to die alone? The poor thing is so big, even if it could figure out how the derelict spacecrafts left on the planet flew, it would never be able to fit inside one.
If the deacon returned I’d like to see them explore the original concept of xenomorphs becoming more civilized beings after they initially are born and molt into their fully grown state. Imagine a space crew encountering an adult deacon with roughly fashioned clothes and with intelligence matching or even surpassing the engineers themselves
The fire and stone comics were a great addition to the Prometheus story. I liked that you got to see what happened to predators and androids that were exposed to the back goo as well
Deacon is cute. I’d like to see it take a large and sleek alien form due to its host being bigger. But also would love a further series on on anything else extended. 😻😻
I heard someone relating a story from the art director/directors of Prometheus who said The Deacon on the wall was just a nod to H.R. Giger. I've always thought it would be counter intuitive for Engineers to be worshiping something so inherently and mindlessly hostile. Seems against their Way.

It was stated in fire and stone that The engineer alien is so strong it can play with the engineers who were compared to godlike beings and as a fan of injustice comic series, I can see one fully armored with its special weapon going against superman one on one evenly who had punches along with darkseid to shake the entire planet.
Yes, please explore this further. I hold out slim hope that a third instalment will be made, and it will feature more of the Engineers and be more like Prometheus than Covenant.
The mural could also be a representation of something that the Engineers are proud of, like an accolade. Veterans, (myself included) usually have a wall dedicated to military career.
I like the idea of the Deacon becoming an entire mountain and an essential rebirth of life on the once dead planet, really gives credence to the name Prometheus
I think it was said, something like they worship their own creation & demonise it's destructive potential, being the very best & the very worst, but a lot was said, written, changed, even filmed, but cut/removed, just to keep it a Mystery-Box, and to have options for the sequel, so it probably doesn't mean anything (anymore)
The deacon wasn’t intended as an ancestor to the xenomorph, all it was meant to illustrate was that the pathogen will inevitably lead towards a xeno-like organism It’s never alluded to in any way that the deacon can even reproduce, but if it can then maybe generations of infection and birth COULD lead to the stereotypical xenomorph, but it’s not the point of the deacon to confirm that, it’s only purpose in the film is to show that the pathogen will steer towards a specific set of characteristics regardless of vector

I wanted to see a sequel to Prometheus so bad, just to see if that girl at the end would go find those god like beings on their planet, like she was going to find at the end, then the new alien comes out of the god being and it looks freaking cool as hell, I didn't know someone made more content about the new alien, I wanted to see this new alien in another movie, I love the entire Alien franchise, I think the whole story and lore about is so interesting, great video, got a sub from me!
It might make for a cool video game where the company sends a team to investigate the Engineer's homeworld and a Deacon infestation breaks out. The player would then have to survive against the Deacons as well as the enraged Engineers.

I'm honestly not a fan of the newer lore of the creation of the xenomorphs, but I'm old and grew up around the time of the Dark Horse AVP comics.
It would bother me if David straight up created the Xeno however i think he was following a recipe of the Engineers.
I do prefer the xenomorph being a product of nature with their own homeworld even though the Prometheus origin doesn’t upset me either. I feel like enough retconning and head cannons can connect the two together.

David could be the creator, though it looks more like he was following a blueprint or something, and the black goo’s aspect that makes a deacon/xenomorph could just be because the engineers wanted to recreate the xenomorph they could have found on some planet, maybe to weaponize it or for other reasons, we don’t know for sure just yet.
I hope they don’t fuck it up in the next film. I loved Prometheus but I thought Covenant was quite rubbish.

@@GreaterGrievobeast55 I feel that having the xenomorph behave more like an animal is what's diminishing it's terror.
It acting more like an ant colony in Aliens and it having a homeworld loses the mystery and the unnatural feel it had in the original Alien and in Prometheus/Alien Covenant.
The creature was originally created to feel as unnatural as possible, to be a perversion of nature. I mean, it is "birthed" from a man and kills it in the process, it has acid for blood, it can survive the vacuum of space, it does not need to feed and it's instinct is not to survive, but to kill. It not being a creature of nature, but a weapon is what's so terrifying about it.
I have always liked the design of the deacon. I hope it does show up again in the comics.
Deacons are my daughter’s favorite alien of the alien franchise. She’ll always rush in when i say there is one…such a alien nerd, she draws the deacon a lot! And REALLY WELL…..😅

Since we are talking about Xenomorph variants, one of the questions we asked when we were kids in the 80's is what is the Xenomorph endgame? is it just to survive? Spread themselves across every world? Follow its programming as a biological weapon?
Another thing to I was thinking about just recently about Xenomorph variants. If the Xenomorph infected and subdued a civilization that uses living technology instead of machine technology like we do would that grant them the ability to spread across the galaxy or universe like the Zerg from Strarcraft or Tyrannids from Warhammer 40k? Imagine if Xenomorph facehugger successfully implanted its embryo in a living ship would the resulting Xenomorph be able to fly like the living ship? or perhaps the facehugger implants into embryo into a living creature that eats Iron ore and spits out Steel pellets would the Xenomorph coming out be able to do the same?
I always thought about it as if it were bees or ants, they just do what they need to do to survive, but they have a virus like mentality.
I've always thought they were just intelligent bio weapons, the derelict in alien was probably a weapons carrier which would explain why theres thousands of them inside with stasis fields to keep them alive during the travel time

I really loved the concept of the various permutations of the pathogen creatures and the concept art that accompanied it. I wish we had gotten to see more of it in the actual films.
One of the earlier ideas for a Prometheus Sequel was to showcase various Organisms that David had Engineered from the Black Goo. Had we got a Sequel to Alien Covenant i am sure we would have seen David creating more Creations which would not have been Xenomorphs
Please do a series on Fire and Stone!! The implications in Fire and Stone change so much of how the prequel films are understood, it's incredible.

I commented above. I'd love for him to turn Prometheus the Complete Fire and Stone into an audiobook/motion comic like he's done for other Aliens and Predator comics... It'd be a massive undertaking, but I for one would appreciate it!
I personally think the deacon was terrifying. I would love to have seen it really come to play as a major antagonist... I was hoping the follow up to prometheus was going to feature it in a more direct role... From what I've read and seen in sketches.. prometheus was originally a much much darker and horror themed movie than what we got.. Scott seems to have a thing for having these great ideas, but going a more conservative route.. the amount of material he tends to cut is almost an entire movies worth alone. What could've been won't be...

The theory of the engineers wanting to irradicate humans in order to break the cycle of the deacon is a interesting idea. It's something that I hadn't thought of and haven't heard anywhere else until now. I love the universe they've created and would be willing to watch more about the comic version

Since the original "infection" seemed to morph with every generation, it makes sense that the xenomorph is its own form and will change according to the next host's DNA. That's what I've thought about the ever-changing form with each generation; it takes on characteristics of its new host and becomes a hybrid of the two.
I've always suspected this. That the resulting lifeform was a derivative of the host.

The neomorph is cool for certain but do think i would have rather seen more deacons! Especially after seeing the fire and stone concept art. Figuring out their behavior and relation to the xenomorph is a story worth exploring! Also the kenner style deacon toy is neat!

I've been playing isolation and I finished it so many times but have you ever noticed some of the doors that say device invalid some of these doors can't be opened until you have the third actual card which is right by the ambulance bay so after getting that card I didn't go to the ambulance to the Inn Isadora I went back to the Scimed Tower and Lorenz systec spire And you'll find some androids in the garbage bag the orange one you know and a few people still wandering around but it is cool to get into all those rooms that you couldn't get into before
yeah you know this Prometheus stuff just doesn't wash with me it might've been a cool movie but I feel it definitely was not part of the alien universe one bit

The Deacon becoming the fully grown "Ultramorph" is the only Xenomorph we really need to see in the next film wether it's a sequel to Alien: Covenant or a sequel to Alien Resurrection!!!!! Preferably Alien Covenant because the Deacon is in the prequel series not the original series!!!!! If Ridley Scott does still decide to make Alien : Awakening (the third film in the prequel series) I will be completely content with the entire franchise as a whole & don't care of seeing another Alien film as long as this next & final prequel film is done perfectly!!!!! We honestly don't really need another Alien film after Alien : Awakening as long as it ties the prequel series directly into the original 1979 Alien film unless they remake a AVP film properly 💯

Design wise its really cool! But for it to in the favorites category i’d probably have to see it do something within a story personally.
I love these videos by Alien Theory! I wish they had expanded on the Deacon more only because it went through to intelligint hosts both capable of speaking. It would be amazing to find out if this thing was smart could use tools or had a semblance of intellect that wasn't based solely on hunting and killing.
The extended nature of its previous lives [in the sperm of a male, then the womb of a female, then as a wandering squid, until finally the embryo in a large humanoid] made me hope that the genetic diversity would give it some manner of intellect.
We see it as an infant at the end of Prometheus, screaming and wailing, but already quite large. If I were writing its story, it would triple in size by adulthood and wander the empty planet forelorn and lonely. Over time, it would develope its humanoid brain structure and understand that it was left here by its progenitors, and grow sad and angry. I would attempt to mirror the emotions felt by the human characters in Prometheus toward the Engineers. Why was I made? Is my purpose simply to die alone?
The poor thing is so big, even if it could figure out how the derelict spacecrafts left on the planet flew, it would never be able to fit inside one.
I enjoyed this video. The Deacon could be used to interesting ends. Keep up the good work.

If the deacon returned I’d like to see them explore the original concept of xenomorphs becoming more civilized beings after they initially are born and molt into their fully grown state. Imagine a space crew encountering an adult deacon with roughly fashioned clothes and with intelligence matching or even surpassing the engineers themselves
The fire and stone comics were a great addition to the Prometheus story. I liked that you got to see what happened to predators and androids that were exposed to the back goo as well

I heard someone relating a story from the art director/directors of Prometheus who said The Deacon on the wall was just a nod to H.R. Giger. I've always thought it would be counter intuitive for Engineers to be worshiping something so inherently and mindlessly hostile. Seems against their Way.

I think it was said, something like they worship their own creation & demonise it's destructive potential, being the very best & the very worst, but a lot was said, written, changed, even filmed, but cut/removed, just to keep it a Mystery-Box, and to have options for the sequel, so it probably doesn't mean anything (anymore)
The deacon wasn’t intended as an ancestor to the xenomorph, all it was meant to illustrate was that the pathogen will inevitably lead towards a xeno-like organism
It’s never alluded to in any way that the deacon can even reproduce, but if it can then maybe generations of infection and birth COULD lead to the stereotypical xenomorph, but it’s not the point of the deacon to confirm that, it’s only purpose in the film is to show that the pathogen will steer towards a specific set of characteristics regardless of vector

I wanted to see a sequel to Prometheus so bad, just to see if that girl at the end would go find those god like beings on their planet, like she was going to find at the end, then the new alien comes out of the god being and it looks freaking cool as hell, I didn't know someone made more content about the new alien, I wanted to see this new alien in another movie, I love the entire Alien franchise, I think the whole story and lore about is so interesting, great video, got a sub from me!

It might make for a cool video game where the company sends a team to investigate the Engineer's homeworld and a Deacon infestation breaks out. The player would then have to survive against the Deacons as well as the enraged Engineers.
