*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

Brother Awesome babies do have a more liquid diet than adults. So she would pee more. If there is family history of diabetes you could talk to her pediatrician glucose test on with a home glucose monitor. It does require pricking her finger sad😢 but you should discus your concern with your pediatrician first 😊

My husband and I have cut all but 11 carbs per day! Was it easy???? No! But if you’re serious about your diabetes, you CAN do it! I haven’t eaten bread/pasta etc in almost a year. Do I miss it??? NO! Of course I did at first, but if you’re determined and stick with it, you’ll get to where you don’t! And, I was a vegetarian, I still despise meat, I used to eat nothing but pasta, bread, etc. But, I like not having to take insulin 4 times a day!!! We cook everything we eat, we don’t do fast foods. If we eat out we choose a restaurant where we can pick healthy choices. My husband lost a leg because of diabetes. If that isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what is! It’s mind over matter! Really, it is! You do NOT NEED bread to survive! It’s not air! I don’t know where everyone lives, but if you’re in TEXAS and have a Braum’s Ice Cream (I know, I know…the irony) nearby, they sell a low carb bread that comes to only 4 carbs per slice. I think it’s called Carb Watch. If you have to have bread, it’s a good choice. I wish they sold it in grocery stores. My husband allows him self a slice for toast every now and then. But he knows that’s 4 g of carbs he has to do without for the rest of the day. Yes, I’m the carb police, but he’s not losing another limb on my watch!!! Nor am I! ♥️

Wow you are amazing. I have arthritis and have found all the foods I am allergic to and cut them out. The result is that the arthritis is so much better. When I have told other ppl with arthritis what to do they say. I would rather be dead than cut out food. And I say well you will be. Even getting hip replacements seems better to them than cutting out some foods. I did the aip diet to find the foods I had an intolerance to and now live by following a plant based diet except for fish which I eat I also cannot eat gluten sugar It is hard at times but the lack of pain is worth it. My mother was morbidly obese and died at 58 and even as a child noticed how badly she ate no real nutrition she ate very little so I believe she was malnourished I really believe that people who are obese have allergies that they are unaware of. If they find what their body is intolerant to they would lose weight easily.

I found "Keto Bread" at costco and it showed "0 carbs" through the sugar alcohol and fiber. It was the first and only low-carb bread I tasted that was good a sandwich bread. It was fantastic when making grilled cheese. I am a diabetic who has controlled his sugar for over a diabetes and take no medication with A1C averaging below 6.0 with the last three 5.7, 5.3, and 5.8. I get checked yearly and only test blood occasionally. I starting eating this "Keto Bread" and didn't check my sugar, as I had in the past when trying something new, against their claim of "0 carbs." I work up one night and had the burning sensation on top of my feet that I had before I was diagnosed as a diabetic. I had to take one foot and rub the top of the other foot to ease the discomfort. I tested my blood when I got up. It was in the upper 180s and I had been picking up weight which I had maintained for over a decade. I hadn't had a reading for years like that. I then looked at the likely culprit and narrowed down the "Keto Bread" from Costco made by Franz bakery. Franz bakery won't make a claim that is is safe for diabetics and wrote that they have never marketed it as safe for diabetics (words matter). I controlled carbs and will cheat slightly as a rule, but only for spectacular foods and small portion. I threw the bread out and stopped short-cutting. Lost seven pounds in two-weeks without trying, blood sugar in below 120, and no more discomfort or pain. I lost over 70lbs when I was first diagnosed with diabetes using Atkins book as a guide. I am like you and usually around 10 carbs per day. Good luck to you. It isn't easy, but having seen my grandfather lose both legs with progressive amputations (he didn't know he had diabetes) up his leg when they wouldn't heal. It still drives me to take care. I earned my diabetes. I don't blame anyone but me for causing this health problem.

We use slices of cheese instead of bread when we make sándwiches! Works great. Of course you can make burgers, sandwiches, etc. using lettuce leafs. Iceburgers are actually better than a regular burger on a bun. A large leaf, mayo or the spread of your choice, a second leaf with the meat, cheese, tomato, onion, pickles whatever you eat on a burger place the leafs together, tuck the edges under and dig in. I love making mine with bacon, mushrooms and Swiss plus onion and tomato...sooooo yummy!

For those of us that love bread but not the carbs there is good news. If you live near a Kroger there is a bread made by Lewis Bakeries that they sell is low carb. There is the regular bread (white, wheat, honey wheat) that is 5-7 carbs per slice depending on the kind you get. They also have hamburger and hot dog buns. It is about $2.00 a loaf. Now Lewis has introduced a 0 carb version. Also with hamburger and hot dog buns. You will pay more at $5.00 a loaf but at least we now have a choice. The breads are fresh and there is no difference in taste from the high carb breads. Wth that said, we can now have a ham sandwich with swiss cheese, lettuce, and mayo or mustard for less than ONE card per sandwich. Right now I can only find this bread at Kroger but I am sure it can be found at many grocers across the country.

The major problem isn't bread - it's modern wheat, produced by many crossings and manipulations in order to get Dwarf Wheat, which, unlike natural "wild" wheat has a very short stalk but a huge "ear" with big seeds. This actually has a protein wild wheat lacks - and which does you no good. It may even be why white wheat is addictive to many. So - get 100% whole grain Rye, or Maize, like tortilla's. Although they do contain complex carbs, they dont contain the results of gene manipulation, and they aren't addictive. You are happy to eat much less, in other words. If you can't get 100% Whole grain Rye - buy the flour from an organic seller, and make your own bread, or make pan breads fresh for each meal.

Yes - it’s also the way wheat is ground for flour. Around 1900, they invented an efficient wheat grinder that separates & divides the wheat into endosperm, bran, and germ. To “make” whole wheat flour, they mix SOME of the bran and germ back into the endosperm- which is pure white carbohydrate. Basic White flour is only the endosperm. The only flour with the Whole Grain is stoneground flour, which has much more fiber and nutrients. Because of the fats in the germ, stoneground whole grain flour can go rancid - so should be stored in the freezer.

If you study the history of the milling and making of bread, you will find that modern milling and baking are not the same as traditionally bread making. You are right about white flour. You did not go far enough to mention the added chemicals to mass produced bread bought in stores. In my childhood you bought bread in the store and in a week it started to mold. Now, a loaf sits on top of my frig and never molds. I bake my own sourdough bread with half white unbleached flour and whole wheat flour. Also, bread is gluten and there is nothing wrong with it. Low Carb thinking is madness. Go whole foods plant based.

I have type 2 diabetes. I don't eat bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, cakes, cookies, or anything containing wheat flour, including whole grains, or added sugar. My one concession is that I make almond flour bread. It is low in carbs, tasty and nutritious. Ingredients are, Almond Flour, Flaxseed meal, Baking Powder, a little salt, eggs and 2 tbs. of heavy cream. 3 and a half minutes in the microwave and voila! Only downside is that it's a bit high in calories so, if you are watching your weight it's a good idea to limit quantity and avoid fatty fillings.

I don't expect it to be like regular bread but it needs to be somewhat not nasty. I've made keto cloud bread...ah, no. I can't seem to stand almond flour even buying the one without the almond outer layer which I made the mistake buying that one first. Any thoughts or do I just give up bread? I don't need to eat it every day but a couple times a week would be a welcome treat with my eggs.

If you are diabetic, it's best to avoid the whole grain wraps and the Ezekiel bread. The carbohydrate content of the wraps, while lowish compared with ordinary white bread, is still too high. Without extra insulin, your blood sugar will go way above the normal range. The Ezekiel bread still contains too many carbs. Both foods do contain vitamins, etc, but you first aim is to normalize your blood sugars within the normal range (75 - 108 US units; 4.2 - 6.0 European units). Many doctors are soft with high blood sugars; get a straight talking one.

I am not much for trying to create things to pretend they are something they aren't, particularly like fake meat or cheese etc or low fat stuff that's filled with sugar.
BUT I did a romaine lettuce cheese burger for the first time 3 weeks ago and it was surprisingly actually excellent. I used 2 romaine leaves halved and put on top of each other, so 4 leaves on top of each other more or less. I really felt like I was eating a regular old burger and didn’t miss the bread at all. It was very satisfying. Eating the burger with your hands with the lettuce really seems like eating a traditional burger with a bun. IN and OUT will even sell you a lettuce wrap burger, they call it “Protein Style” and that’s what you need to ask for (secret menu) to order one and it will be lettuce and no bread.
Also you can do a portabello mushroom burger with the portabello's as the bun which I love all mushrooms so I will try that next with some feta cheese and grilled onions.
I have been doing lettuce wraps for my tuna salad (albacore tuna, finely diced in a food processor celery with the liquid squeezed out, tarragon, fresh cracked black pepper, lemon zest and half lemon juice, mayo) on romaine and iceberg lettuce and it was also great. I made little tuna fish tacos with the lettuce instead of tortilla. I also made an egg salad (hard boiled egg, hot Hungarian paprika, bunch of dill (I used dried but fresh is even better), fresh cracked black pepper, salt, finely diced celery and onion liquid squeezed out, squirt Gulden's spicy brown mustard, granulated garlic powder and mayo. I'd put the egg salad on romaine lettuce and eat it like a taco. damn good!
I have also done zucchini spiralized into pasta with EVOO and butter, fresh cracked black pepper and pecorino romano. Excellent too! .... damn good. I have yet to try spaghetti squash.
It took me a year of KETO but now I don't miss bread or pasta, rice, potatoes, corn, tortillas etc at all.
.......One other thing, they are now making LOW CARB tortilla's (La Tortilla Factory, Mission) which depending on the size whether taco size or burrito have 3g -6g or so of NET CARBS per tortilla. I have yet to try them. Unfortunately they aren't cheap...like $4.99 for 8 medium tacos size.

    • @freesoul3371
      @freesoul3371 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@ellenm2873 HELLO, Ellen...I really don't try to mimic things and pretend I am eating pasta or rice even though I have done spiralized zucchini I am not trying to fool myself that I am eating pasta. To me it's ZUCCHINI with the ingredients that I love with pasta which is OK as the zucchini goes well with the traditional recipes, CAPICHE? I love my homemade "OO" pasta linguine and clams and pasta puntanesca or a simple capellini in EVOO/Butter, Cracked Black Pepper, Garlic, Locatelli Pecorino Romano, fresh Italian parsley. So zucchini is great and I can make my white clam sauce exactly as I used to and instead of pasta just substitute in the vegetable zucchini instead of the starch carbs of pasta and eat my clams and garlic sauce which really is the dish. So I amazingly don't miss pasta at all. This took me a long time and for people NEW to KETO I think trying to pretend you are eating things sets you up for failure on KETO.
I have never done rice cauliflower even though in the past 1.5 years ago I massively consumed Basmati( my go to rice for everything and middle eastern dishes, lamb etc), Jasmine(Asian dishes) and regukar long grain white rice (mexican, southern cuisine) but pounding all the rice, pasta, breads, potatoes, corn, tortillas etc has got me to the pre pre diabetic stage which I am trying to reverse. Rice although I love it and LOVE all of the bad carbs like pasta etc I don't miss it either as I like Asian stir fry with lots of veggies and meats/seafood. I just use every LOW CRAB veggies you can incorporate into Asian cuisine asian dishes/stir fry with chicken, pork, shrimp beef etc. I like stir fry broccoli, ginger, onions, peppers, garlic, napa cabbage, bok choy, cauliflower, mushrooms, peanuts, cashews, sesame seeds, eggplant, green beans etc. I eat cauliflower every week. I'll eat an entire head of cauliflower for dinner with boneless skinless chicken breast but never have I rice it yet.

Being a newbie to keto, I’m amused at the 100’s of recipes that try and recreate bread and sweets! I think it shows how addictive sugar truly is.

He should have listed a whole grain wrap that is supposedly good. I looked a couple up and they had a bunch of bad stuff in them.
The Ezekial Bread is not a good choice for many people. One guy who has diabetes did a test with it. 2 hours after eating 2 slices his blood glucose was still in the high 140s. It supposedly has a GI of around 36 and a GL of around 4. I don't know if the numbers are inaccurate or if it has other ingredients that spike blood glucose.
If you want to consume either of these, I would do a blood glucose test of your own. Test it prior to eating, 30 minutes after, 1 hour after, and finally 2 hours after. Then make your decision.

Nightshade bell peppers and cucumbers however have lectins and need to be cooked to avoid leaky gut and linked to memory loss. Eggplant has oxalates.

I love Ezekiel Bread. If eaten it for years. I get it from the freezer section in the store and kept all but about 6 slices in the freezer and the slices I kept out, in the fridge. I like it best toasted

veggie alternatives sound delicious but how nutritious are the store-bought varieties? In Europe, the Netherlands export hothouse vegetables, grown in artificial soil - can't imagine that there are many vitamins in them!!
