I'm 32 and thinking of starting to train and box a few charity fights and maybe get into the white collar events. It this possible or am I living in a rocky film? I done a bit when I was 8 till 11.
I'm 19 am I too old to join college track team plz replay, I recently lost my family in a car accident when I was 18 yo that's y I take one year gap plzz replay
Great speech, Jason. I am 45, started boxing 1 year ago and now have 2 amateur fights in Masters category. I feel better mentally and physically than ever in my life. I agree with everything you said.
@@BruceLeroyUK Hi, just noticed your question. I haven't seriously trained since Covid started - more that 1 year ago. Still very happy about boxing. So far, I have 9 amateur fights. Hopefully will get back to boxing again. And now I am 49.
I'm a 25 years old girl and i asked myself this same question for many times before to start. Fortunately i decided that i wanted to do it anyway and i started boxing one month ago. Probably my best decision ever.
I'm 27 I live in Miami. I know where the 5th st gym is. I'm going to do it. And try to go pro !! Mind is made up ! Thanks for your videos I watch and apply them to my training
I literally just talked about this with my boxing coach today, I will be turning 21 next month I thought I would be too old to start amateur fighting but he said to me pretty much what you said in the video there's really no limit on your age once you have the right mindset you can achieve anything.
Anthony Joshua first started boxing in 2007 and by 2012 he had won the Olympic gold medal. so by all means it can be done with hard-work and dedication to the craft weather it be amateur or professional. men are at there peak from 27 around 32 but if you have a good defense we see it can be done professionally up until the likes of Hopkins ages. Boxing isn't just wanting to go pro or even amateur its more of a life style change just like any martial arts it takes a short time to learn but a life time to master. Anybody would benefit from boxing. it might be fitness, confidence, discipline or mental strength so in my eyes boxing is for any age. when my son turns 3 hes going to start boxing and i cant wait to be by his side and watch him progress.
I really like how wise you are, and how good you speak. Maximum respect for you! I'm 26, started boxing a year ago, and I'm just in love with the sport! Just can't stop it, Hehe and in like 6 months, my first fight will happen. I know that my enemies will have years of experience, but this is what I want, this is my life! This is not just a sport for me, boxing is a way of life!
keep it up bud I'm the same started 3 months ago been a lifetime fan but only got brave anuff to do it now 26 too and honestly believe can go far good luck hope you do too
This question went through my head for the past couple of weeks, I eventually decided to pick up kickboxing again, just because it's impossible to think about it so much and not give it your all. Your training videos are very helpful to work on my boxing thanks. Very wise words in this one and also very motivational keep it up!! I just discovered your channel btw ;)
I started at 20 and have shown potential as my coach says it, I’m now set to fight next year for my first amateur fight. Started at 190lbs fighting at 165lbs next year!
@@user-pc8fn9kj5s I gotta tell you bro you gotta put in twice or three times more hours in the gym to compete against the guys who’s been boxing for years. That’s the way I grew and now I’m fighting dudes whos been in the game since they were kids. I put in more hours than anyone in my club and it shows!
@@ricogaras9613 respect bro, I’m 18 and been boxing a few weeks, hoping I can push myself through the extra hours to catch up to these other guys who have been boxing for years.
Very nice thoughts about this question. I started training at 27 years old and been practicing a lot, it really became a medicine for my anxiety problems and for me it's really about who i became after i learned boxing. I'm so grateful for being able to meet the sport that i think i won't stop doing it, i feel like i kinda have to give back to the sport all the benefits it gave me.
10,000 hours rule. You gotta put in a lot of time to be good at anything. The earlier you start the more advantage you have over those who started later.
you are not alone. me too. i self-practice peek-a-boo style boxing for 6 months. I am natural weight lifter for 4 years, on and off. my peak deadlift is 160kg, squats 120kg rep max. transtioning to boxing is tough. im 26 right now. planning to represent my country in olympics. I wan to meet you in ring, i am natural cruiserweight category. pro: punching power, aggresion, strength; cons: stamina, speed, reflex....it seems my style is more of slugger and counter punching. in malaysia, there is no proper boxing training and no pro boxers and pro coaches. i try my best to be in olympic. harry singh add me instagram.com/asokumaraan/
Personally I don't let age get to me because unfortunately when I tried to get in fighting sports at younger age I was not supported to join. Later on when I could pay for my own training I did with lack of direction. Now that I'm older and doing Muay Thai I can see how many young people who get into these fighting sports take it for granted or go to the gyms to socialize or for the wrong purpose and they are not hungry to get better but feed their own malice and ego. Randy Coutour, Sergio Martinez and more great fighters have inspired me to join and get to work now before my time is really up.
JT Van V Also young guys can put me down but I have also put young guys down. So it feels like if I'm still young but I always have to keep that in mind so I don't cripple myself as I get older.
I am 35 and started training boxing some months ago. So far I love it. I just want to see how good I can become. I try to build up personal goals, the next one is starting sparring against the others in my gym. After that sparring at other gyms. I try not to look back and regret that I didn't start this earlier, that won't take me anywhere. I stay focused on my goals and want to achieve them one by one. Peace!
Sometimes we just need somebody to tell us these kind of things to keep going, to stop expecting motivation from someone else, thanks for telling the reality of training and getting better.
Personally i find this video one of my favorites. The way you motivate us to go for for what we want at any age, keeping in mind that is all about the process, not the result. I think at some point in our lives we've been holding our potential back for that kind of questions. Thank you so much for your words! Greetings from Peru.
Great advise TJ. I really enjoy your practical angle you put on things. I'm an old guy 45, who's boxing with my oldest daughter who 14. She's pursuing as an amateur and I'm training for my 50's & 60's and beyond. I completely agree with the benefits of boxing. I'm in better shape than 90% + of guys my age and that is due to this incredible sport.
Push your self and remain optimistic, don't defeat yourself mentally before the fight even takes place, if you love it, you'll even love the down falls of it in knowing that you got through them! GOODLUCK
I am 33 yrs of age and I started training 3 months ago. I am still recovering from a heavy illness, every time I go train it's very heavy but so rewarding. Don't second guess yourself but go try maybe you wil like it. My dream is to one day fight a amateur boxing fight ( bucket list ) Thnks for all the nice and clear explanation in your vids. You guys keep inspiring :-)
hey guys, don't quit, I'm 60 and love it, they have a over 60 league I want to compete in, I know basically it's over and all about being realistic, I still train and absolutely love it, it still feels cool, accept the straight hits, lol , one of the greatest workouts , cardiovascular and muscle defining thanks jt,
Deontay Wilder started at 19. He's a beast. Anthony Joshua started at 18. Both of them are very successful now, and considered as some of the best present-day boxers.
If you want it bad enough, and you have the motivation and drive to get it, nothing can stop you from achieving your goals. Age is a factor as J said but it just another challenge to overcome. My buddy started MMA at 26, hes 31 and Pro fighter now, He had over doze armature fights, and now working on his Pro career. I see guys in there 40s all the time fighting at the local shows.
Inspirational, I'm 26 & sadly I don't really have a legit boxing gym where I live. I still plan on giving it a shot since I'm not really interested in going pro but you never know, it could sprout into something.
Thank you. Im 37. I started watching you a couple years ago. Ive learned everything I know from your youtube videos. I have no ambition to be a champion, but because of videos like this, I drag my 100lb combat bag to the gym next door, and work on your training suggestions. Speed drills, shadow boxing, proper technique, and treadmill running. I never thought I could do it till I tried, and you have given me the knowledge to atleast act like I know what Im doing and not hurt myself. This is late in coming but THANK YOU.
Whole lotta respect to you, coach!! I started boxing 6 months ago, I'm 29 and was in horrible shape. But, it's unbelievable- i can see the change in me on a monthly basis. I'm not sure where I would like to go from here, except that i can't imagine me going forward without hitting the punching bag. Boxing for life:)
You have convinced me, Age is just a number. Im 37, 18 months ago I had serious motorcycle accident and shattered my leg broke my back ribs sternum yada yada yada. I have a 2nd dan in shoto Khan and was in the Scottish team. A year before my crash I switched to Thai and K1. Kicking was my thing. not so much a kicker now so been boxing for the last 9 months, Im in love man why the hell did I not box from the start. im running the London marathon in April 2018 and going for my first armature fight after that. I was 93Kg when I started, down to 77 now.......... love your vids mate......... Peace.
This was not exactly what I was expecting but I like this guy so listened anyway, I started kickboxing at 40 and to say it changed my life is an understatement, it's the single most important and best thing I have done to enhance my life. He is so spot on with his opinion that what you get from boxing/kickboxing/ MMA etc is in the process of becoming whatever it is you want to become. I had my first full contact fight after only five months of training and although I lost I was so proud and 'shocked' to have even been asked by my trainer if I wanted to fight, he believed I was good enough to hold my own and so did many of the others in the gym, for me, that in itself was a victory. I had never before in my life stepped in a ring and I'm not what you would call an aggressive or very tough person but kickboxing gave me enough confidence in myself to go through with the toughest challenged I faced in my life - fight training! That was where I really learned about myself, the fight was just the lid on the box to show I had got there. Go for it, all of the combat sports are fantastic 👍👊
Hey, just found out about your channel today. I'm a 31 years old guy with belly fat, long time fan of boxing. Has left the gym for ~12 years now. With no boxing gym around, your series of video will really help to get back into shape. Thanks!
great vid! what you said about "the process" and how boxing can change you really resonates with me. sometimes. most of the guys at my gym are either younger or have been boxing longer (or both) and sometimes i feel "old" but the constant learning and growth i experience (physically and mentally) keeps me feeling young and hungry for more. JT, you are a fantastic teacher and motivator. your channel is such a valuable resource. keep doin what u do! BIG thanks!
I trained for a year like 5 years ago. I'm 31 now and had years wanting to get back, bit you know life and jobs are tough, but recently got back to boxing. My body was completely destroyed and in worst shape as ever before. Got almost 2 months since I'm back and my whole life has changed so much in a great way I'm absolutely thankful with Boxing for making me feel this way again.
I started boxing from 18 to 23yrs, then i took some time off, until i was 26 I'm now 27 I'm preparing to do a transition from boxing to MMA with the right mind set. Thanks to you dude for the motivation. More importantly for the lifestyle change but who knows where this road will lead when hard work pays off.
I'm also thinking of transitioning into mma but not now, I started boxing at 17 (pretty late) and I'm 19 now. I want to transition into mma after a few years.
When I was a kid in by 20'ies I boxed as amateur. I was nick named canvas back, I'm now 58 and still love the training. Bag work and skipping the main routine. Keeps me healthy. Minor training injuries only. I would recommend it to any age. Get into it. Love your tube show keep it up. ..Tim Oz.🇦🇺
Jason! You always have such excellent advice. As a mother and a 27 year old, I received a lot of negative comments and reactions when I decided to start boxing. The decision has put my life on the right path and I'm so glad I didn't let other peoples' opinions sway my choice or my determination.
Lynette Kelly Thx Lynette, I always like hearing from you! People don't want you to do things that scare them. Either they don't have the courage or don't want to see someone succeed. Even people close to you can react this way. It's awesome that you have stuck with it and made great progress.
Thanks for the support love your videos it gives people courage and motivation to keep going ecspeacally as a women trying to fight I'm 27 chasing my dream with faith
I'm 47 and I box 4 times a week. I find boxing to be a sport you can do into your 50s unlike football which I simply can't play any longer due to all the injuries.
This video is really inspirational I'm nearly 29 that's why I'm hesitating to join in any boxing gym but it's seems no problem at all finally it made up mind to join soon I know I'm old for boxing but deep in my heart I'm still strong and have powerful determination if ever I don't succeed I will take it as experience to share to everyone too and let them know what is like to be a 29 yrs old in boxing Thumbs up to this video 100%
Thank u! Needed to hear that...no support makes it hard to keep going & fighting as an unattached makes my dreams seem impossible. I will keep/continue winning because I promised my family if I lose one time before I make it I’ll hang em up. Not losing means much more to me than jus winning. I’ve been a Loser all my life outside of the ring the pain from real life hurts and hits harder than any punch or kick all at once. Being those 3 things a loser, the pain, always hurt outside the ring makes me great at Everything inside the ring because I can show how much more an opportunity means to me. All I’m great at is breaking things, trying to find an occupation other than fighting...smh
I just turned 38 and I have been doing Muay Thai since 2006 and haven’t looked back. Now trying to focus more on boxing not to become a champ and fight mayweather but to be a champ to myself. Just do it and have fun!
I really like how you speak about topics in your video. A lot of knowledge and really solid advices. I started training boxing when I was 26 and it is over 2 years now. I Don't want to start in any competitions, but it really keeps me very fit and is a lot more interesting and exciting for me then regular workouts. Keep up the good work! Love your channel
Well said JT! You should be a sports psychologist. I started boxing with Title 9 mths ago and just recently started private lessons at a real boxing gym. There are days when I ask myself what I am doing. People think am I a little crazy. Thanks for the reminder of all the physical and mental benefits of the process! I am afraid of getting punched in the face though, lol. I just hope I can punch them back even harder! Peace out, bro!
I first started boxing and Muay Thai when I was 16. I had plans to go pro in either MMA or boxing after high school but Asian parents never approve of their kid's dreams so I went to college instead. Gained weight due to partying and eating bad food on those late night study hours, killed my cardio after I got hooked on cigarettes and losing tons of sleep, eventually dropped out to join the workforce. I now work as a Physical Therapy Aide and personal trainer. I'm now 28 and I enjoy my life now. Though being a pro boxer or MMA fighter is still in the back of my mind. I'm not as good as I was back in high school so I never bothered to pursue it.
Really good advices jason! i started boxing at 25 because i always liked boxing but i never had the chance to enter a boxing gym . i moved in and two blocks from my new home there was a gym,it was my chance. i began just to get myself in shape and do something new, then in the gym i started to spar with the others guys and i liked even tho i always recieved a good beating, i sucked big time lol. but i kept working and improving, slowly, and then i decide that i wanted to get the licence and make a fight so at least i would have know what it's feel like. mi debut was at 26 it was a draw but i liked and now i'm two months from 27 and i keep fighting,i dont know if i'm gonna get to the pro's but i just live for today, i enjoy what i do and try my best, the time will tell.. i really can say that i have improved a lot but the truth is that it's harder to learn and get your body conditioned when you start at my age,i have to work harder than the young folks but i dont mind, i love what i do,and i dont regret anything (all the time invested in the gym, to quit alcohol and drugs,to get pain in the body almost every day,to get a broken rib during a sparring sesion, etc etc)because i felt that i had to try it. boxing gives you a lot of positive things that most of people can't see. if anybody have doubts or fear about get into boxing, i would say dont think too much about it, just go and try your best because you only regret the things that you didn't do. thanks for your videos jason, you helped me big time when i was a nobody in the gym lol (and still do) (excuse my english please)
I boxed at 16/17 left, and want to train again at 25! It kept bothering my spirit like I gave up, and I need to do it. Mental strength, willingness, and feeling the Loss is inspiring.
When I was a kid, my parents wouldn't let me do martial arts because they felt that it was violent. I was kind of a lazy kid anyway and my parents made me do a bunch of activities that I didn't even really want to be doing. By the time I was 19, I had the money and freedom to come show up at a taekwondo gym. I went to two classes every single day and stayed to practice inbetween classes as well. I mean, as soon as I was able to jump into it, I was 100% committed, practicing for hours every day. I didn't even really know what boxing was... I mean I had heard of it, but that's it. I continued doing martial arts every chance I could though (there were some life circumstances that got in the way, like the husband that I had and then being a single parent who could rarely even afford Cheerios). When I had enough money, I showed up at another gym. Every gym I have trained at, I have trained damn near every single day, often staying for around 4-8hrs. I just would not rather be doing anything else. I got a bad rap in traditional martial arts for always punching people in the face. I realized that's what I was really good at and I decided to just try straight boxing (I was 24 at this point). A lot of guys were scared of me, girls did not want to spar me, but I've taken my fair share of beatings too. My nose doesn't bleed and I don't stop what I'm doing. I would often spar multiple times a day, fighting around 8 different dudes. I'm 25 now and I think I'm pretty good. I don't know if I will ever compete, but I love boxing. :) I think having to wait so long to be able to do this (or any combat sport really) is part of what made me value it so much. My parents still judge me and they half-hate me. They don't want to hear SHIT about my boxing or my other hobbies. But I do it anyway... and I laugh in my head about whatever judgements people have against me... they usually think they are preaching nonviolence, but they will be the first to break out in unnecessary violence when they are mad... it's stupid. I don't let my emotions affect me like that. I also have people who don't really know me make comments about "You want to act like you're so tough..." Yeah, ok, whatever... you try running around the country signing death waivers, fighting guys you've never met before, often weighing more than 50lbs more than you, not knowing what they're about or what they're gonna' try to do, and you tell me if you think you're tough. I don't think I'm tough... I don't think anything... I DO things and one of the things I DO is that I box.
Great video I like your answer: are you ok with getting hit in the face, are you ok with hitting someone... For sure boxing makes you stronger in your mind (and in your body), now there is a gap between training and fighting for real.
Lot of truth in this video, also your goals change throughout life, when younger I trained to spar and learn skills for my self defence. Now I am mainly interested in fitness and weight control, still enjoy hitting bags and mits but not so bothered about hitting people anymore 😀
Your a great motivational speaker I applaud you for everything you do taking time out of your schedule to help us Trainers and boxers Thanks much always look forward to hearing from you keep up the good work #Hard work Dedication. .
I'm 24 just walked in a boxing gym for the second time in about a year (so I'm not entirely new) but still a lvl 1 rookie. I've always been interested in boxing since a young age, always invisioned myself fighting in a ring. I know im not too old but wish I had started earlier. If you want it you can get it! It's all about how hungry you are!
I am 24 been doing boxing for 14years on and off. I've been overweight my whole life; currently 140kg at 180cm. I have decided to dedicate myself fully to boxing and become olympic champion. Pray for me! 🙏
Im 15 and started boxing few months ago, I did it just cause I wanted to get my body fit and cause video game characters :P (Little Mac) but over time I started to grow love for the sport and I am thinking of becoming a pro when I'm older but always thought I was too old cause alot of boxers started when they were like 8 or younger, but this video really helped me :D Hopefully the next time you see me will be in the pro ring ^.^
Keep going my friend,I started at 14 and I always thought I started late, but I too am planning to go pro just like you,the only situation where your dreams won't come true is when you tell yourself its not gonna happen, other than that nothing can stop you.
JT I am 54 and I incorporate your boxing tips into my karate training. I like how you explain things. I think you know what the hell your talking about. I enjoy your tips. As goofy as this sounds, I wish had known this 30 years ago.
Great video! I started boxing with a lot of doubts and now there's nothing more clear than the fact that I just love to train, so I don't spend time thinking how far I will get, cause I know I already became a warrior and that's what matters :D
im 35 turning 36 jan 4th, i played fb most my life still in great shape. i smoke a lot of bud, think im bout to get clean nd focus on boxing to see where it may take me. wish me focus.
very wise, I started boxing to lose weight cuz I was 300lbs and decided to try competition cuz im committed and said fuck it, got down to 165 and won the VA/NC Golden Gloves this past April just before my 28th birthday, lost at regionals to the MD/DC Champ in a really close match. I regret not starting younger but as you said I didn't have the maturity and mind set until I was 25 and it has changed my life and opened many doors, just go for it cuz youll regret it more if u don't even try. Awesome videos man! this cat knows what hes talkin bout.
I've always had a out-of-this world cardio and speed. I've just started running again after like 5 years, and i did 6 miles in 45 minutes, and i was not even close to winded. My pulse what pretty much "in rest" though i had a good pace the entire run. That, with the fact that i always had a gift for learning extremely quick should work in my benefit, even though i just turned 27? I'm thinking of signing up, and give it my all, and everything more, just to see how far it takes me.
im 24 years old, hadnt played sport for about 8 years, was a drug addict for 6 years, i started boxing 2 months ago, and i train daily. i have noticed a major positive impact on my health and mental well being. Regardless of whether or not i will become a successful boxer in the ring, it is definately one of the best decisions i have ever made in my life
I'm 37 and started about 6 months ago. I was a State metro basketball player in my younger days. I now wish I had traded a basketball for some gloves years ago.
its not to late to have an amateur fight and get a taste of it. It's funny because I have my son playing B-ball, I'd rather him do that than box. It's all perspective I guess.
JT Van V My knees no longer can handle the impact stress from repetitive jumping so I eventually stopped playing. I'm still in good shape but boxing has really increased my stamina and endurance. I've grown to appreciate boxing not only for the fitness aspect but also for the art of it. Boxing keeps me mentally sharp in my everyday work and family life. I'm actually competitive by nature, but it'll be years until I feel i'm ready to fight. There's so much to learn and develop, but i guess in life we're continuously learning which is the beauty of it. Thanks for all your videos. And remind your son: 1) on defence - never reach 2) on offence - When on the dribble you have a better chance of beating your man by attacking the weaker side of his pivot, which in turns make him swing his hips to change pivot foot to counter the change of direction. Never go to his stronger pivot side where he can just slide back quickly. Buy yourself that valuable split second.
Turning 34 and im going into month 4 now in a boxing gym . Not spared but now tech sparing . Learning a lot allso from your drill vids on nights off and my confidence is now getting there in the gym . Im slowly not being the old guy in the corner training on my own im getting amonst it
And my reason .. just to put my self out of my comfort zone i dont even no if my coach nose that i want to compete or i dont no if i do so my self yet . What i do no is if you stick it you make good progress as i can c it in my self . Thanks for the vidios there helping a lot
I started when i was 21 and by a year and a half i was real serious and got in crazy shape,I was 135 lbs then and very fast, but my coach was big on conditioning so everyone at the gym was punching machines but didn't really have much technique, I had my first amateur fight and I won, then my life just led me in different directions, I didn't pick it back up seriously until 32 I'm now almost 35, and I am 180 now, slower than the 135 lb me of course but now my power and technique and ability to take a punch and also my defense is way better than back then...when I'm there I feel young, and the growth reminds me of when I was in sports as a kid and was improving as time went by, It does wonders for my attitude, my health, how I eat and how I think, I LOVE IT. Almost obsessed with it...i wouldn't stop if someone paid me lol...still improving as well..and let's not forget!! I does not hurt your self defense!! Something WE ALL need from young, middle,to old! Do what your heart desires you only live once!!!
Best boxing videos on TH-cam! I have my first ever boxing match 14th June and I have been training hard even thou its only 3 x 2 min rounds and I mix it up by going to 3 different gyms and learning from each trainer, but also watch all your videos and get that extra advice and tips which I implement into my routine. I haven't sparred as much as I would have liked but I have been sparring amateur and semi pros, some good and help you but others are just laying a beating on you lol but it's a learning process, and as for this subject I'm 30 and have only been boxing for a couple of months but I have seen such an improvement in such a short term I aim to take this sport as far as I can, my fight will be recorded so I will try and upload the footage win lose or draw. I would say no matter your age just go for it and have fun and see where it takes you
Awesome channel! Im 40 with a pro record of 22-4-1 (12KOs). I think right now the game for me is more mental than physical. Whatever I've lost in physical ability has been made up in knowledge and "tricks of the trade". We definitely got the same mindset. Again, great channel!
El Chapo Guzman Pudo! I started when I was 6 but got really serious at about boxing at 16. Been doing it since. It really is about the mindset like he says.
Besides my Dad and uncles matching me with my cousins in the back yard my first organised fight I was 9. It was a 3 2 minute round fight at the country fair. I am still in the gym at 62. I love this game and will stay in it until they put me in a home some day. JT is correct about the old gyms where they wanted to see if you would quite before they wasted time training you.
I'm 37 and seriously thinking about getting into it. I'm a 6'1" flyweight who can switch stance without thinking about it, and have been doing karate since age 9, and from what I've seen from the two gyms I've tried out to, I think I'll have an advantage in footwork, and I have a deep understanding of balance and body mechanics. From karate and also from half a life of skateboarding, I can say that my tolerance for pain is very high, even when getting clocked in the face. I currently train iron skin kung fu where you hit the entire body with iron rods to build callous and train your nerves. Also, I could easily cut down to bantamweight ;-) Been training for a year and a half consistently on my own and feel even more motivated. Thanks for your perspective and your vids. I use a lot of your stuff to train
this was the best video I've ever watched...and the reason is that you report the correct causes of how to do it for whatever it is.but I would like to say that more clearly.life is not a game and a lot more like a sport like the boxing that the mind, the soul and the body have to work 100% for a successful level !to all the young ones out there.forget about your muscles big size is, fashion girls nighttime dinner without program.you have to put your mind to work because the body can not and when it can not your mind can work.you have to give yourself!! all !!!out there are many young people wanting to be a star boxing world Champ or successful proffesionals..... but.... before you start thinking about something you are not something special unique in this life there are crazy men who train endless hours for many years and at the end may not do it and the same ones do not expect to be anything different without first having given everything.boxing is art is life is wake up and make program your food your life how to take your healty is like the ring .you cant play without tacticts without take your self just jump and start hit and you win.. lessen your heart sit days nights hours dont even think the time..training find your soul guys maybe you be great fighter one day who cares if you dont you know is not for everyone to be champion and so what ? you lose in something and you dont be the best !! and ??? you still be a warrior and you doing something great..maybe more than the other 50% that is not enough for you ? is really hard to get on top guys from nothing jump on ring and K.OUT EVERYONE ..how much did they work you know??? 101 % everyday that you must do and again and again maybe you work familly kids but look still if you dont make it all this time of what you learn and start being it will be so nice feeling after some time so dont give and dont think be successful think to be better every day . eat -relax-sleep- no stress -go training- eat- relax- sleep ! repeat 5 days on week 2 rest.
Beautiful speech thank you sir I'm actually almost 30 but been told being a southpaw with the stamina and speed and power that I should give it a try and will.
i started boxing thx to ur channel. I found a realy old boxing gym with old expirienced trainers. What i most like about boxing is, that its hard to have an Ego. Because when u think ur better then somebody there some who can always smack that ego out of u 😀
I'm 30 years old and just won Mississippi Golden Gloves so age is just in your mind!!!
I'm 32 and thinking of starting to train and box a few charity fights and maybe get into the white collar events. It this possible or am I living in a rocky film? I done a bit when I was 8 till 11.
At what age did you chose boxing ?
I’m nearly 30 that’s what I did few charity fights now I’m fighting for a novice championship
I'm 20 and this really motivated me. Thanks
Mauro The Phenomenal you’re at the perfect age right now it’s all up to your trainers decision if and when you go into the ring
41 years old joined a gym a month ago. Lost 20 lbs and dropping fast!!! I love it!!!

@@justinyes7005 did you start boxing?
Great speech, Jason. I am 45, started boxing 1 year ago and now have 2 amateur fights in Masters category. I feel better mentally and physically than ever in my life. I agree with everything you said.
Danylo K. Still boxing regurlarly?
4 years later, still boxing? No need to reply if you’re not.
@@BruceLeroyUK Hi, just noticed your question. I haven't seriously trained since Covid started - more that 1 year ago. Still very happy about boxing. So far, I have 9 amateur fights. Hopefully will get back to boxing again. And now I am 49.
@@kdanylo 9 amateur fights. That's impressive. Hope you do get back into it when you're able to. Thanks for the reply.
Me to at 47 I got quick hands
I'm a 25 years old girl and i asked myself this same question for many times before to start. Fortunately i decided that i wanted to do it anyway and i started boxing one month ago. Probably my best decision ever.
+Sara D'amato wicked!
+Sara D'amato I'm a 24 year old guy and had the same question. Kick some ass!
Lol your 25

Wish you all the best just staryed boxing at 26 last year , and i believe anyone can do it age is just a number !
Forever Win man me too ,i hope you make it bro may God be with you good luck
Forever Win how's the boxing career going buddy?
I literally just talked about this with my boxing coach today, I will be turning 21 next month I thought I would be too old to start amateur fighting but he said to me pretty much what you said in the video there's really no limit on your age once you have the right mindset you can achieve anything.
+RossNotoriousCarr Very true!
MR Bandito also he was a specimen and was still young but good fact.
good
But you people need to understand how easy it is in the heavyweight division kmt!
Hormones usually peak at 25, some men at 28. But experience and drive is also a factor

This is not just a sport for me, boxing is a way of life!
thank you! and that rocks!

I'm 26 and the in the SAME exact position as you Chris. I am on track for heavyweight champion of the world now! Lets get this together!
Im 17, i started before 4 months ago, a lot of people tell me that i am too old and that i dont have a talent, but your comment have motivated me .
Chris Redfield how was your fight?!

OMG man I feel like crying I have exact same problem I've got general anxiety disorder
Atleast you give people hope I’m 29 and I wanna go pro good luck to me I watch your videos all the time
10,000 hours rule.

***** yes that is right on the money, you see it a lot these days. Back then it was different.
Peace!
Are you still boxing pal
Great motivation and video. I'm 17 from uk been boxing for 5 months I love it! Hope to get far in 10 years
Cameron Talbot u still boxing bro? How’s it going?
Still boxing how you going?
***** solid work!
My first amateur kboxing fight coming friday. I will find out. Been training hard. Get hit everywhere during training.
Robert Lam good luck, let me know how it went
Thanks. Will do. BTW I am 39. :-)
I wish you all the succes man age doesn't matter the love for boxing is amazing

Push your self and remain optimistic, don't defeat yourself mentally before the fight even takes place, if you love it, you'll even love the down falls of it in knowing that you got through them! GOODLUCK

Deontay Wilder started at 19. He's a beast.
Anthony Joshua started at 18.

Heavyweight boxing is totally different than other weight classes tho, older fighters is very common amongst heavys

Go for it, all of the combat sports are fantastic 👍👊
great comment, thanks for the insight on your experience
BIG thanks!
SIMPLY P thanks for your comment, I really like hearing about different people's experience.

I'm 28 I'm doin it thanks for this video man for real....
This video is really inspirational I'm nearly 29 that's why I'm hesitating to join in any boxing gym but it's seems no problem at all finally it made up mind to join soon I know I'm old for boxing but deep in my heart I'm still strong and have powerful determination if ever I don't succeed I will take it as experience to share to everyone too and let them know what is like to be a 29 yrs old in boxing
Thumbs up to this video 100%
+Merciless Meng keep fighting to help you heal from the inside out. You'll discover that you have many sides to you. Focus on you for now

I really like how you speak about topics in your video. A lot of knowledge and really solid advices. I started training boxing when I was 26 and it is over 2 years now. Peace out, bro!
man you're so good, a living example of the benefits of boxing. I wish I could give 2 thumbs up and a bunch of sub's.
Great motivational speech. Mad love from Finland!
Thanks JT! This really motivates me even more!
Really good advices jason! i started boxing at 25 because i always liked boxing but i never had the chance to enter a boxing gym . i moved in and two blocks from my new home there was a gym,it was my chance. i began just to get myself in shape and do something new, then in the gym i started to spar with the others guys and i liked even tho i always recieved a good beating, i sucked big time lol. but i kept working and improving, slowly, and then i decide that i wanted to get the licence and make a fight so at least i would have know what it's feel like. mi debut was at 26 it was a draw but i liked and now i'm two months from 27 and i keep fighting,i dont know if i'm gonna get to the pro's but i just live for today, i enjoy what i do and try my best, the time will tell..
i really can say that i have improved a lot but the truth is that it's harder to learn and get your body conditioned when you start at my age,i have to work harder than the young folks but i dont mind, i love what i do,and i dont regret anything (all the time invested in the gym, to quit alcohol and drugs,to get pain in the body almost every day,to get a broken rib during a sparring sesion, etc etc)because i felt that i had to try it. boxing gives you a lot of positive things that most of people can't see. if anybody have doubts or fear about get into boxing, i would say dont think too much about it, just go and try your best because you only regret the things that you didn't do.
thanks for your videos jason, you helped me big time when i was a nobody in the gym lol (and still do)
(excuse my english please)
gabilxc that's awesome buddy, thanks for sharing your story.
I think having to wait so long to be able to do this (or any combat sport really) is part of what made me value it so much.
I started boxing with 32. Of course I'll never be a champion - but I'd start boxing any day and age again. It's really a lot of fun!
Great video I like your answer: are you ok with getting hit in the face, are you ok with hitting someone...
For sure boxing makes you stronger in your mind (and in your body), now there is a gap between training and fighting for real.
China Non-Stop yes true, fighting for real is another situation altogether
Lot of truth in this video, also your goals change throughout life, when younger I trained to spar and learn skills for my self defence. Now I am mainly interested in fitness and weight control, still enjoy hitting bags and mits but not so bothered about hitting people anymore 😀
Your a great motivational speaker I applaud you for everything you do taking time out of your schedule to help us Trainers and boxers

Paul Hornbogen Thx Paul I truly appreciate the comment and feedback!
Just Remember People Gorge Forman won The Heavyweight champion at 45 it's a state of mind
very wise, I started boxing to lose weight cuz I was 300lbs and decided to try competition cuz im committed and said fuck it, got down to 165 and won the VA/NC Golden Gloves this past April just before my 28th birthday, lost at regionals to the MD/DC Champ in a really close match. I regret not starting younger but as you said I didn't have the maturity and mind set until I was 25 and it has changed my life and opened many doors, just go for it cuz youll regret it more if u don't even try. Awesome videos man! this cat knows what hes talkin bout.
Thanks for the video mate, I'm 19 years now and planning to start boxing for the first time.
I'm really motivated right now
I've always had a out-of-this world cardio and speed.
I'm thinking of signing up, and give it my all, and everything more, just to see how far it takes me.
benzema111 what have you got to lose man we all die in the end anyway so make the most of it and just try rather than fail to try. Keep me posted
"What are you after ?"
Honestly JT, i would like the WBC light-heavyweight belt
Great advice there Jason you made a lot of good points. I really enjoy it we need to videos like this. Stay positive my friend!
Kenny Nabors thank you Kenny!
My gym whooped my ass when I first got there. Some borderline psychopathic shit but it definitely helped develop some character
I love this video. Thank you. Very well thought out.
A close family friend started boxing at 19 and he is now fighting pro
Slick Rick thnx im 19 too nice to hear
How long did he compete as an amateur before turning pro?
Great advice. Man I totally agree with you. Go and get it.
19 years old and I’ve been training to be pro since I was 12. Youre videos help out so much!
im 24 years old, hadnt played sport for about 8 years, was a drug addict for 6 years, i started boxing 2 months ago, and i train daily. i have noticed a major positive impact on my health and mental well being. Regardless of whether or not i will become a successful boxer in the ring, it is definately one of the best decisions i have ever made in my life
Richard Manning Thanks for your comment Richard, no doubt it will change your life for the better!
brilliant video thanks a lot, so lucky to have quality lessons from experienced guy.
And remind your son:
1) on defence - never reach
2) on offence - When on the dribble you have a better chance of beating your man by attacking the weaker side of his pivot, which in turns make him swing his hips to change pivot foot to counter the change of direction. Never go to his stronger pivot side where he can just slide back quickly. Buy yourself that valuable split second.
ahhh thank you !!
I would say no matter your age just go for it and have fun and see where it takes you
Cool, way to work and thanks for your comment!
Awesome channel! Im 40 with a pro record of 22-4-1 (12KOs). I think right now the game for me is more mental than physical. Whatever I've lost in physical ability has been made up in knowledge and "tricks of the trade". We definitely got the same mindset. Again, great channel!
+Joaquin Zamora thanks! Congrats on your success in boxing
How old were you when you started ?
El Chapo Guzman Pudo! I started when I was 6 but got really serious at about boxing at 16. Been doing it since. It really is about the mindset like he says.
I'm 39 in 3 weeks. First novice fight coming up same weekend. Best thing i ever did 💪🥊🥊
Karol Geraghty how did your 1st fight go?
Got my ass kicked in that one..
But so worth it!
thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.much appreciated!
Besides my Dad and uncles matching me with my cousins in the back yard my first organised fight I was 9. It was a 3 2 minute round fight at the country fair. I am still in the gym at 62. I love this game and will stay in it until they put me in a home some day. JT is correct about the old gyms where they wanted to see if you would quite before they wasted time training you.
lisar3006 I love hearing your background experience, thx again!
Same as me bro
It is never too late, always believe in yourself ,I am 37 years old, and I stil keep doing it i still dream of big summits
i started boxing thx to ur channel. I found a realy old boxing gym with old expirienced trainers. What i most like about boxing is, that its hard to have an Ego. Because when u think ur better then somebody there some who can always smack that ego out of u 😀
