Hey coach what's up I'm a fighter out of Detroit I started boxing at 19 had my first amateur fight in the Detroit Golden gloves when I was 25 was planning on going pro after that but I was shot in the arm 6 months later now I'm 32 and I still want it. Don't know why?
I've been in and out of boxing on my life I'm 30 years old now. Did some time in prison and been shot multiple times but I still have dreams I'm becoming a great
Boxing is arts that move our hearts to show the soul. What's surging through all thigns along makes boxing's box sing you know. Sometimes the rain will fall from skies. Sometimes 'twil snow. Boxing is all at once, and while to and fro, and so and so.... Box sings.... It teaches things....
Started my boxing journey at 42. Always wanted to get into boxing when I was younger but grew up poor so couldn't afford a gym membership, at least this was the mentality my moms sowed into me. Now I got my own money and all 3 kids are off at college so I get to focus on things I love to do, Boxing. Covid slowed things down a bit but now 44, doing a lot of training at home but feeling and looking great and looking forward to get back into the gym and sparring with these young cats to show I still got hands and a beast in the ring :-)
Don't let age stop you from doing what you want sir, as long as you don't have health condition that could potentially be aggravated by that activity just do it. Honestly I've even seen 60s in the gym trainers knows how to pace them and you yourself must know how to pace yourself as well. at 40s man that's still a good age to be boxing, some of my gym mates are that age and are really good.
At 61 years old I joined a pro boxing club ran by a former Lightweight world champion. Stayed for 7 years until I had to remodel my son's store. I did everything the young fighters did. You're never to old if your health permits.
Just turned 27. 330. Dieting to get down to 170. Endomorphic complex. I know I'll be down over 100lbs by September. I know it. But I am finally chasing a fight career. I'm chasing MMA though against boxing. I have no prior experience in the amateurs. I'd rather ask a professional though. The reality of someone at my age thriving in MMA vs boxing is higher correct? Thanks for your input coach cook. I'm actually using your vids on TH-cam in my home gym in my basement. So much appreciated.🙏 .
"You don't have to be a fighter to train like one" , that resonates with me greatly. At 55, I'm realistic with my goals in boxing. What pushes me, is my expectations of myself. I want to be the best I can be, nothing more.
Great comment, really. I began boxing with 40 years of age {now 45 }and I'm aware I won't become Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather or anybody with great talent who began boxing with 6-7 years of age, but the important thing is that one improve and learn something new and valuable every day becoming a better version of himself.
32 here, been contemplating starting my amateur career, was asking myself the question am I too old.. you gave me a lil bit of inspiration🙌🏽 good luck 🥊.
Same, my friend just got out of prison (15 years) and he’s now 40. Everywhere we go people think he’s a professional running back or a boxer. He’s kind of built like Tank/Floyd. I told him it’s not too late to get trained. 💪🏾
Coach…I’m almost 60 and I’m training boxing two hours, six days a week. Maybe I’m slow, but at my age I’m better than in my 30s. No punching in my head but hard training. One hour of box, one of conditioning.
That is what retiree in general don’t get ! Not because your retiree , your don’t have to work anymore . U still have to work , but the focus is working on yourself this time to prevent getting old ! Good hear some like you gets it.
@@sivi9741 Very well said. I just turned 62 and retired from working jobs but not from working my body. Focusing on Muay Thai and physical conditioning more now than ever before !
I started at 35. I'm the oldest in my gym. But I train 5 days a week like everyone there now getting ready for Olympic trials for Mexico. Best shape I've been in since high school wrestling. My gym do hard sparring, so I only get in there a few times per month and with my age comes a power that some of the young guns there don't have. I have to warm up more than all of them or else I pull something and it goes away slower these days. I plan to keep boxing forever. Thanks for letting me know about that Masters group. Got time to train for it!
I’m 37 coach Anthony , started 4 months ago , I’ve lost 20lb and counting , now I’m at 210lb f, I train 5 days a week about 2h each day ,I can’t get enough of it , is like therapy and antidepressant for me and it works , love the camaraderie and the discipline, your vid are very motivating . Thank you sir , god bless 🙏
I’m 32, always been a fan of boxing. I started boxing 6 months ago, I’ll never stop. Best decision of my life. The physical and mental sharpness it creates is amazing.
YOU KEEPING IT REAL IN THIS VIDEO…. I STARTED AT 21 AND JUST TURNED PROFESSIONAL AT 31..I COULD’VE DONE IT SOONER BUT I WAITED…AND IM TAKING THIS AS FAR AS I CAN .. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE BUT IT WONT BE EASY..
Your video is right on. I’m 62 and joined my club 8 months ago. I’ve lost 40 pounds and feel as good as I did at 30. Attended the Las Vegas Masters tournament this past week, and I’m working towards participating next year. LOVE BOXING!!!!!
Thank you for your time this was a great video. I’m 39 now and I’m a MMA fighter, started training in 2001 and I’m a striker so boxing is a big part of my game. In 2015 I got signed to TUF and life stepped in and turned everything upside down. Things happened and they were tragic but the moral of the story is I quit. Over the past few years I started seeing my training partners and friends get into the UFC. I never talk to anybody about it or said anything but it was really burning me inside. So for the past six years I watched all of them become stars and some of them fall by the side. For a very long time I blame the things that happened in life for my reason to quit. This past November one day I just realized and just manned up, it wasn’t anyone’s fault but my own for quitting no matter how hard I got in life. I decided to do something about how I’ve been feeling and I walked into another MMA gym. Right off the bat surprisingly I realize that I can still do everything that I used to be able to do. In that same moment I realized how much I loved fighting and wanted to pursue it for that reason alone. I’ve been training my ass off every single day no matter what no excuses just for the love of fighting. From this the wheels have just been turning. I’m under a great new coach that sees the potential in me and I’ll be fighting this year under him. I will fight anybody anywhere any time. I’m just so excited that I get to display my art and have a second chance at this. I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to get signed to the UFC but in all reality I really don’t care I just want to fight. I have nothing to lose and everything to prove to myself. I’ve finally realize it’s not about all the glamorous things and the superstar shit it’s about what’s inside of you. We all have something special and it’s up to us to get it out there. Thank you for this video Coach I appreciate it.
Im 43. I know this is an old video, but it helped me! Im healthier and more active when i training. I might not be the best in the ring, but it motivates me to work harder every time i step in it for the right reasons.
I'm 39 and started 9 months ago at 38. It's humbling sometimes to train with the younger kids. But I'm so proud of myself. And the more I reflect on the training and gather evidence of myself doing hard things- it helps me show up as a better mom, wife and boss.
56yr old woman, start boxing for fitness at 51, absolutely fell in love with every part of it. And people like you who have made realise there's a rich and sophisticated culture around boxing that's just fascinating :)
I am 42 years old right now , I started Boxing at 19 years old. I Love Boxing, Muay Thai I have trained in it too. My Dad is 77 years old right now that is training for Boxing 🥊 his Coach won 200 fights in Romania made it to Pro Boxer. My Dad says I feel I’m to old? I said; Dad you’re never to old to box. My Dad has a lot of Passion for Boxing 🥊 in the end we both Loved your video Coach Anthony keep up the great stuff. Lance B. Kitchener, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 🍁
21. Started boxing at 19. Was at my lowest point when I started and you’re right. I’ve grown so much and gotten so much better mentally, physically from it. Life lessons, not to give up and keep fighting. Having it as a hobby is so beneficial, you don’t have to be a pro.
Dude. We should share watsapp or maybe discord's. I've been through the same journey as you.Started 2 months before I turned 19 and now 21, though I transitioned from boxing to Muay thai now
Unoriginal Username Started at 21. Turning 40 next month. Been doing it on and off for 20 years. I only got as far a white collar, but that's all I ever wanted. I work in tech, art is my real passion, but I love the fitness and self defense I got from boxing. The sport is for everyone at any age.
@@eon001 exactly, everyone at any age, i am turning 80 soon and just starting boxing, i wear some brass knuckles underneath my gloves and i can smoke the youngins using this tactic when sprring and they are none the wiser, they call me old man prodigy with hammer fists, not to brag but i ko’ed a 15 year old last week this way and i think broke his nose. my passion isnt tech but big phat asses on all races, i love fat white asses
33. Started over a yr ago for fitness and growing a love for the science day by day. Always was a casual fan as a kid but boxing makes u appreciate the grind and everything that comes with the community 🥊. Thanks coach 💯 🧠
I'm 72, I workout at a boxing gym 4x per week. I don't spar, per docs orders, but pad work, all the bags, mirror drills and roadwork is the best workout system I've ever had (and the most fun!) At my last physical, the Doc said I have the body of a 50 year old...and I do feel great! Thanks Coach-I watch these videos and incorporate them in my training!
Beautiful explanation coach. I'm 62 and still love my boxing workouts so much that I have a difficult time taking a day off. It just feels good and it's an EXCELLENT way to release stress. Never stop.
Boxing also shows you how tough you aren’t, and that can be a valuable lesson in life. I boxed when I was 16, I’m now seventy, had a few amateur fights and the regimented lifestyle was definitely not for me I liked partying and the ladies too much, but I trained in my 50s early 60s loved the work out. My experience has taught me respect for the fighters who put the hours in the gym, go to the nationals, turn pro, their whole life is boxing and there’s nothing easy about it.
I've been homeless and in and out of jail...boxing was a huge part of getting my life back together, boxing is my therapy...if I didn't have boxing when my mom died I honestly don't know where I'd be right now. I'm 38.
Thanks Coach for keeping everyone motivated I'm 52 started training when I was 50 wish I had younger but as you said you got to enjoy the journey. Keep up the great work.
48 and I have trained twice a week for about 3 years now along with running. I love it, I have seen huge improvements in my punch technique, combinations, speed and power. it’s great for fitness, gives you a new skill and helps in clearing & focusing the mind. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks..
I started boxing 7 years ago at 35. I have no desire to compete, but I love the community. The old saying "Get comfortable with being uncomfortable." is really important to me. When you've sparred with guys 50 lbs. heavier than you and you refuse to quit other aspects of life get a lot easier.
Just turned 35 and started two months ago! I've been a fan of the sport for years but it's great to put on the gloves and learn the skills. Hoping to have my first bout in 2022!
When I turned 37 last year I started to train in boxing and have been loving it. The journey is definitely beautiful. Almost turning 1 year December 8th. For anyone starting up, No matter what age just do it!
Great response! Coach touched on this briefly, but another piece of the puzzle is financial situation, for a lot of people (myself included) couldn't afford to not work. I didn't take up boxing until my late thirties, but I'm so glad I was able to return to the sweet science. I'm discouraged at all about the coach's response if anything I'm grateful for the journey ahead.
37 and been at it for a few months. In this short time it has already given me so much especially mentally. At 33 I started suffering panic/ anxiety and depression disorder. Since then I’ve been on a downward decline. I used to be so confident and in shape. That all faded away. Since I started boxing I see my old self coming back. I’m so grateful because boxing makes you want to be in the best shape so that you can perform your best. No plans to ever fight as I haven’t even sparred yet, but I won’t say it’s not a possibility. Would love to have been able to fight in a ring in front of a crowd at least 1 time.
39 and now getting into boxing for the enjoyment of the discipline and the journey. Thanks for the great video, will certainly be checking out the rest of your content.
Excellent common sense video. Thanks for being a teacher and inspiration for fitness minded individuals. I train 3-4 times a week on cardio and strength including heavy bag and speed bags. I am 61 and could fight a 5-8 round amateur fight with guys my age for sure. Amateur boxing humbles bullies and builds up quiet and passive kids in a respectful and honourable way. Thanks Coach Anthony !
I'm 63 years old. I'm not a boxer, however I am a martial artist (mostly Kung Fu and Pencak-Silat) and have been training 55+ years. I train 6 days a week (Kung Fu forms and conditioning in the mornings and strength training 2 afternoons a week) and will never quit! My advice to older practitioners is, "TRAIN!" :)
I was in and out of boxing but started taking it seriously at age 38.I am an Investment Banker, got into my first white collar competition same age. I still train heavy , spar heavy now at 43. Considering having one or two more White collar fights then " retire " to trainings & sparing only. Can't imagine what I will do without boxing. Its a deep passion now obsession. Love the confidence it gives, the Class it upholds , the fitness you derive. Friendships you build. Appreciate all you are doing.
Great points Coach. As a 62 year old who switched from bodybuilding to Boxer at 57 years old its refreshing to hear a point of view which keeps me motivated. I spar with the young boys so I personally under the difference in skill set and performance that a youngster can have but the journey as you say is something that I enjoy. A good boxing gym is like being a part of a family. Thank you for your tips and perspectives
Thank you for this much-needed reality check, coach- much appreciated. I took up boxing just five months ago, aged 31, mostly for weight-loss/fitness reasons, and (in combination with diet) so far am down 95lbs. I still have a ways to go before I reach my goal weight, but the point is that I found this activity which made the immense weight-loss journey tolerable to me. I never did any kind of workout before, and after my first session was in a world of pain and discomfort, but that first session was enough to get me hooked to the point that I started going 3-4 times a week, and currently am training six days a week. My workouts are a combination of boxing, as well as strength & conditioning, and can vary from one-on-one work with my coach (mostly mitts and technique) to gym work to at-home heavy bag work. I train for 1-2 hours depending on what I'm doing that day. My body is sore all the time, and somedays I greatly dread going into the workout, but soon as I get those wraps on, I'm 100% all-in and ready to work hard. It hasn't been easy whatsoever, and I'm proud of myself for sticking to it, because previously I'd have run off at the first sign of discomfort. Just a couple of months into it, I had the idea to work towards a goal of having a handful of amateur fights within two or so years, and I'd still like to strive towards that goal merely to be able to say that I did it, but even if that doesn't ever end up happening, I think I'm ok with it because of everything else boxing has given me, some of which you've outlined here. For me, in addition to the biggest benefit of better health/fitness, it has been a massive confidence-booster and cured me of my previously long-standing depression + anxiety. I think a lot of folks who put on gloves might experience delusions of grandeur at one point or another, convinced that they will become a world champ... I even had that thought a few times, thinking I'd be some underdog legend who came from being almost 500lbs at age 31 to being a world champ... it's ok, maybe even healthy, to get those thoughts, but it's also important to be grounded in reality and know that sometimes certain (physiological) factors work against us. Sure, George and Bernard became champs later in life, but they had decades of training and experience leading up to that- not the same as someone who strapped on the leather at age 35 and worked for a decade to get there. Anyways, thanks so much for this amazing video full of truths and realities anyone looking to get into the sweet science ought to hear. I really love how you remained respectful of peoples dreams, even maybe leaving us a bit optimistic by reiterating anything is possible, all while stating time-proven facts. Much respect.
I’m 23 and training to compete in the amateurs. Been boxing for 2 years now (started at 21). Haven’t looked back since. I found my passion, I love this sport. Shout out coach anthony for keeping us motivated n going 💯
Im 25 and recently started training with a friend of mine who’s actually younger than me by about 2 years but his experience is CRAZY! I get discouraged a lot because of my age I feel I’m starting late but this video definitely helped a bit💪🏾🤘🏾
I'm so glad you touched on this topic. I'm a 56 year old educator who's been around the sport for twenty seven years and I've always trained as a boxer. I never aspired to be a professional, but I just enjoyed the training, sparring, and just being in that space. Many of my students and colleagues are definitely aware of my love and excitement for the Sweet Science! I have to give a shout to the AV Boxing club for instilling that attitude and dedication to the sport. Coach Anthony, as always, your discussions are on point!
I needed to hear this. Bought a heavy bag and proper gloves and it has changed my life. I'm enjoying this new adventure more and more everyday! I'm 37 yrs old and plan to join a boxing gym soon.
Started at 23 for Muay Thai last year. Thought I found it too late because typically, the successful Muay Thai fighters start at a very young age of 6+ but my drive/ambition/mindset allowed me to become obsessed with it and improved fast to catch up to most of the people in my gym.
@Jibrisky 4L you got this shit bro. I leveled tf up since this comment. Just to show you that discipline, consistency, mindset will take you far regardless of time if you do this shit everyday. Stay hungry.
@@flyingknee23How are you doing now bro? Ive been boxing since im 23 and ive had a blast of a journey man, Im a fucking menace! I hope the best for you.
I started at 39 and I needed this video to confirm my thoughts about me just training like a boxer I do love the knowledge technique and the stress realief Much love Coach Anthony
Speaking true wisdom. Living with a journey, growth, and purpose. This is also how I approach music, arts, dance, etc. Will be 37 this year. Feeling great...always thankful and full of gratitude. But I also know there's always more to improve on. I don't take a day for granted. - Continued elevation always. ✊🏾🙏🏾💎
I tried to go master amateur when I was 62. I was able to do 22 to 24 rounds 5 days a week, sparring 6 rounds twice a week. The problem is getting opponents at that age, which is next to impossible. Then my body just couldn't keep the pace.im 67+ now and still train 5 days a week, 6 to 12 rounds...3 minutes...plus 2 or 3 rounds on the speedbag. Plus weights. I started doing martial arts when I was 19. I still love to train. I may not be as fast anymore but it serves my purpose. Don't worry about the accolades....just keep training. You'll be amazed at your conditioning
28, trained casually for a few years but finally got a real coach and boxing gym. Man boxing just gave me a lot of confidence and taught me discipline. Love sparring, love the skills and the people. Better coping mechanisms than booze haha. I’ll never make a career out of it but I just want to be a solid sparring partner for competitive boxers haha.
Great video coach! Thanks for keeping it real and being positive and encouraging. 51 years old. Boxing off/ on since 8. I don’t compete any more, but the training and camaraderie that I have experienced over the years is priceless. Keep up the inspiring work!!
I Started Boxing at 30 yrs and am now 33 and will be 34 in July and have fought twice in the Amateurs , Had a couple of injuries but making another effort to come back and get my first win in 2022 and also now teaching my 10 yr old sons Boxing. At First wanted to be a World Champion and that's still the Goal, but going to be the best fighter I can and Hopefully reach that ultimate goal but if not will still be very proud and happy with myself for taking it as far as I could and I know it will be farther than what I started!!! Then my next goal will to be a Boxing coach and I've already started training my kids so that way I'm getting familiar with Coaching and if my kids want to take it further that will be Awesome and if not I'm always proud of them for Learning the Great Sport. And will continue to be a trainer because I still want to be involved in the sport that I love. Boxing Has changed my life and family's life for the Better and It will always be a part of my Life,Like you say Coach Ant Boxing Life🥊🥊
What a great speech sir! I started boxing at 40 and now that I m 48, and I m determined to keep training as long as my body allows me to. No need to say that my physical condition overall is 200% better than 10 years ago. I love sparring with usually younger guys, even I have to tell them sometimes to take it easy on me, but thats just fine. After every practice the level of fulfilment is really refreshing and motivates me for more and more. Did I say how much I love boxing??
I remember starting at 21 and thinking I was too old. Never wanted to go pro, just wanted to train. I ended up getting better than people that trained longer. Done white collar shows on and off for fun. Still at it at nearly 40. Still don't want to go pro, but I love training, and that will ever change.
Very helpful video.. I started my boxing/Muay Thai journey a little over a year ago after putting it off for so long. I always loved the sport but never thought I'd fully jump into it. Biggest regret would be, I wish I started earlier but in retrospect, I'm actually right on time. It fits my goals in.life and the amount of confidence and clarity I get from it is so rewarding. By the way, I turned 44 this past June. Who knows, maybe I'll step it up to actually competing soon but for now, it's me vs me.. If anyone out there is having doubts about stepping into combat sports, don't hesitate, just do it. Keep showing up and enjoy the process.
Great vid coach! I was a bodybuilder for 15 years and competed at a high level in national comps. Health reasons forced me to change direction in life and my friend who is a professional boxer had me come into the gym and train with him. I fell in love with boxing and feel like an athlete again! When I started I was 275lbs and couldn’t move for shit. Feet stuck in concrete haha I’m 239lbs now and far more athletic. I’m 38 years old, wish I would have found it earlier in life but you’re never too old!
I hear ya bro, was into bodybuilding for too long, kind of feel like i wasted a lot of my youth years, but I didn’t realise how much I loved boxing until I started. I’m 38 now an I have been boxing for a couple of years and in in the best shape of my life .
Refreshing to see this, I’m married at 36, got 3 kids a dog and run a building company. Grieving and boxing has been the best metaphor of life! Great video brother, keep up the good work 🥊 =========
Great video! I first started at 23. I'm 29 now. My consistency fell off with going to the gym about a year and a half before covid because I had knee surgery and my son was born. I still always practice shadowboxing and footwork for fun. I plan on getting back to it as soon as I'm done with coaching wrestling for the season 💪🏾
I Kick boxed and boxed for many years. Fought pro am kick boxing in southern Ca. When i got to my mid 40s up until I was 50, I was gong to a boxing gym with several brothers who were all national silver glove champs and had other good fighters. If I was in shape I did well. If I wasn't (which was more often than not, because I had to work, have a family, etc...) I would barely survive sparring or get lumped up. It got to the point where I just couldn't work out enough to keep up with these young dudes who were working out 6 days a week, three hours a day and actively fighting. One father whose teenage kids boxed there, said; " I had over 200 amateur fights and was thinking of sparring with these guys until I saw you in there!! ) Lol. I must have been getting lumped up! The thing is, I still had reflexes and skill, but if you don't have conditioning, forget about sparring with good guys. Conditioning is a must. I've been Arm Wrestling for the last couple of years. I'm 57 now. I have to drop thirty pounds to get to the weight class I want to be at. If I do, I was contemplating doing some boxing again. I can still fight, BUT, if I don''t get in condition, forget it!!
I'm 57, still box for fitness, but no more actual fights or hard sparing. Light sparing with head gear ok. You have to know what your body can take and how MUCH you should let it take.
I just celebrated my 70th birthday 🎂 I’ve been boxing 🥊 for 9 years. I work out 2 or 3 times a week with my trainer. I love it. I recommend boxing for older people. It develops balance, strength, coordination, and mental agility. Thanks for your encouragement Coach.
I started my boxing journey at 38 just to try something different. I've been in shape most of my life, but I wanted to switch things up from just weight lifting. One of the best decisions I've made in recent years. I have no actual plans of fighting, but I train twice a week and spar once a week. It's taught me soooo much about myself and has given me much more confidence in myself. I'm 42 now and I tell all my friends that they should do it. Not necessarily to fight, but the amazing benefits that come with the training.
Same for me. I started at age 32 for all the reasons you stated and boxed for 2 years. Then got my youngest son and took a 4-year old sabbatical because of multiple reasons. During those 4 years, I mostly did some weight lifting. This year I picked up boxing again and I'm really glad I did. It's the best way to relieve stress and stay fit, both mentally and physically. Such a beautiful sport!
I'll be 60 this year and all I want to do is learn the skills for self defense since younger bullies get a kick out of beating on older people because of lack of respect and hate.
thank you for introducing me to Masters boxing. i knew i am well past anything professional, but the chance to be an amateur is a vastly more lofty goal... the chance to actually compete and say "I did this. I was here. I came, I saw, and I got my ass handed to me in a real ring, and I'll be back for the next one"... was more than what i thought was open to me. i'm a fat, old, woman... i'm 45... and i'm doing this first to lose weight and get in shape, but i found a passion in doing it, and now i have at outlet for my skills, once they're honed.
I started at 26. Most I'd do is some amateur fights. It's just fun way to stay in shape, you can always spar. Also it's nice to know you can handle yourself if something happens in the street. I even went ahead and learned kick boxing too and may do amateur MMA.
I am 27 as well, been boxing/kickboxing for at least 3-4 years and jiu jitsu for about a year and a half now. I talked to my coach about a fight but who knows what is going to happen with this stupid vaccine shit. I don't think I can get one unless vaccinated and I don't plan o ndoing that anytime soon.
@@905legends I'm the same way about the vaccine but Osha agreed to the businesses with 100 employees have to get vaccinated. So I guess I have to get the shot soon because I don't run a business that can cover my cost of living right now.
Started at 57 after having a heart attack. Had a blue collar boxing match that year and another the next year at 58, won both. Now 59 and getting ready for another bout next month.
I’m 60 and on April 2 I’m attempting to set a new world record for sparring 150 x3min rounds against some of the best, taking place here in Australia . It will be live streamed, stay tuned! ❤️🥊 Phil McDonald
Fantastic video! I appreciate the encouragement, but also the honesty. You addressed all the important aspects. I’m 51, just started boxing a couple months ago and am loving it. I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for all the great content 🙏👍🏼
I started this year, im 32 years, really strong, i always worked out, i cant lie tough, i hoped to be a champion one day, im wanna try it with my best efforts, it really doesnt matter if it will happen, but im going to try it with all my heart!
I am a 59 year old gal who started boxing TODAY because my dance class was cancelled. I live in a small town in Mexico with limited options so I’m feeling excited and privileged to begin a new style of “dance”!
this is a great video and honestly an overall life lesson. Its never too late to start doing something your interested in. I'm 28 and just started last month. I know im not gonna be a pro, but the workout is fun, the training is fun, the people are fun. Its just like any sport. If you like basketball are you gonna stop playing basketball just because you arent going pro? No, you're gonna keep going to open gyms, you're gonna keep playing pickup, you're gonna join adult leagues. Just have fun with it.
This is a great video and I ask myself what to do daily. I started my martial arts & kickboxing journey at 20. Now I'm 70 and broken. It's not the age but the miles. This is encouraging for me to just "train" and box. Fighting is something in my past. Thank you for the encouragement.

Did some time in prison and been shot multiple times but I still have dreams I'm becoming a great
what if you had shoulder surgery and gallbladder removed
and then Nikola arrived in America and there was light.
💯💪🏽
Inspiring!!!
This is great! I'm 42 and started boxing last year. It's one of the best things I've ever done! :-)
Had a similar upbringing. Enjoying boxing training at age 31.
At 61 years old I joined a pro boxing club ran by a former Lightweight world champion.
Stayed for 7 years until I had to remodel my son's store.
I did everything the young fighters did. You're never to old if your health permits.
Good work!
Never too old 👌

Just turned 27. 330. Dieting to get down to 170. Endomorphic complex. I know I'll be down over 100lbs by September. I know it. But I am finally chasing a fight career. I'm chasing MMA though against boxing. I have no prior experience in the amateurs. I'd rather ask a professional though. The reality of someone at my age thriving in MMA vs boxing is higher correct? Thanks for your input coach cook. I'm actually using your vids on TH-cam in my home gym in my basement. So much appreciated.🙏 .

I started boxing at 59. Boxing has improved my life in so many ways: mentally; physically; emotionally. Boxing is the fire!
Great point! That's what it's all about!
Q: Do you spar? If so, do the younger dudes resent sparring with you because they have to "take it easy" with you?
Wow ... Inspiring
"You don't have to be a fighter to train like one" , that resonates with me greatly. At 55, I'm realistic with my goals in boxing. What pushes me, is my expectations of myself. I want to be the best I can be, nothing more.
❤❤🙌🏽
Great comment, really. I began boxing with 40 years of age {now 45 }and I'm aware I won't become Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather or anybody with great talent who began boxing with 6-7 years of age, but the important thing is that one improve and learn something new and valuable every day becoming a better version of himself.
great! 👍
Truth brother! Get some!
Great philosophy.
I’m 39 years old and I started boxing when I was twelve but I went to prison and did 15 and I’m bout to start my amateur boxing this year! 🥊🥊🥊🥊
that''s inspirational bro- wish you the best! 💪
💯🙏🏽👍🏽
That’s amazing!
I’m 70 and started boxing 2 months ago and I love it. I train three times a week. I feel fantastic and getting stronger.

What's your name bro I'd love to watch some of your fights online
🙏🏽💯
Respect. Definitely left something for me to move forward.
Im 39 n bout to do mma
Be like wine brother get better with time all the best👍🏿
How is your fighting journey Mr Poole? I’m praying for your victory not just inside of the cage or ring but outside as well. God bless you!

21. Started boxing at 19. Was at my lowest point when I started and you’re right. I’ve grown so much and gotten so much better mentally, physically from it. Life lessons, not to give up and keep fighting. Having it as a hobby is so beneficial, you don’t have to be a pro.

Never stop.
I’m 58 and just got back in the ring after 15 years. Still nervous and still a thrill.
I've just turned 59. Stated boxing 3 years ago and I'm doing my first white collar event in March. Love boxing. Feelnso fit and fresh.
I just joined a boxing gym, and I am 68 years old. I am doing it for strength, weight loss and hand eye coordination.😊

‘I’m not a fighter, I just train like one’ ….this is my new motto. Thanks Coach Anthony!

All praise and thanks to God I'm young I started at 16 and Im 17 years old , please pray that I have a bright career too
37 and been at it for a few months.
55 here - and I didn't start until I was 49. In fact the membership to my boxing gym was a birthday present to myself when I turned 50.
How is it going
Been training boxing for over 30 years and teaching it for nearly 20. This is a very truthful breakdown of how boxing can help everyone. ❤
Hey coach, I'm 39 and I have my first fight next month in Vegas at the masters tournament. This video is right on. Thanks for all your tips.

I am 68 and I am learning to box for conditioning and I love It!
I'm 51 yrs old & I love it! Can't wait to get involved as a way of life!,

Many of my students and colleagues are definitely aware of my love and excitement for the Sweet Science! I have to give a shout to the AV Boxing club for instilling that attitude and dedication to the sport. Coach Anthony, as always, your discussions are on point!

Started at 23 for Muay Thai last year. Thought I found it too late because typically, the successful Muay Thai fighters start at a very young age of 6+ but my drive/ambition/mindset allowed me to become obsessed with it and improved fast to catch up to most of the people in my gym.
In Thailand they start at 6 but in western countries that age is more like 16. Don’t let this deter you! You are young enough my friend, go for it!!!

I'm 24 turning 25 next month. Felt like coach was talking to me when he said put the pedal to the metal.

Started at 33 and now I’m a 4-0 masters boxing champion 🔥🔥
Great content as usual Coach. You don’t have to fight to train like a boxer! I’m using this line on my non-fighters. Appreciate you!!

@@JerreMuesli 100%!! I was just telling someone yesterday what a mental workout it is as well.
I'll be 60 this year and all I want to do is learn the skills for self defense since younger bullies get a kick out of beating on older people because of lack of respect and hate.
Im 26 and ive trained for 8 years but ive never had an amateur fight... i feel like i have something to prove to myself
💪🏽💯
thank you for introducing me to Masters boxing. i knew i am well past anything professional, but the chance to be an amateur is a vastly more lofty goal... the chance to actually compete and say "I did this.

Im 40 and I'm starting boxing My debut boxing match is June 24th never too old just train and listen to your coach
Love your content coach! Currently in training for my first amateur fight on February 18th and I’m 23 years olds
Dope!!!!
Same man! Not for February. Maybe for the summer. I'll be 23 by then
Best of luck to the both of you
@@christianupshaw4976 thanks!

61 and i want to learn. Your message was very inspirational and you seem to be a man of great integrity.
Fantastic video! I appreciate the encouragement, but also the honesty. You addressed all the important aspects. I’m 51, just started boxing a couple months ago and am loving it. I really enjoy your channel. Thanks for all the great content 🙏👍🏼
Who else feels like he is wearing mask under his chin?
😂 definitely look like a Covid mask
Didn’t see it til you mentioned it and now it’s all I can focus on 😂😂😂
I started this year, im 32 years, really strong, i always worked out, i cant lie tough, i hoped to be a champion one day, im wanna try it with my best efforts, it really doesnt matter if it will happen, but im going to try it with all my heart!
I am a 59 year old gal who started boxing TODAY because my dance class was cancelled. I live in a small town in Mexico with limited options so I’m feeling excited and privileged to begin a new style of “dance”!
I’m 27 and I start my Journey today very excited!! Wish me luck🙏🏾
this is a great video and honestly an overall life lesson.
62 years old and still spar. Dancing and boxing keep me feeling young. 👍🥊 #boxnburn Santa Monica #cod mpls #Gleason's #Brooklyn #WTF Manhattan.
Started at 26.. now 34.. Still training.. love learning techniques. I've sparred a few others who compete but still just want a few fights in.
